Deprecated has inked a multi-album deal with Unique Leader Records. The label issued the following statement:
"Forged from the crucible of some of the industry's most influential bands, comes the
tempered, hulking monstrosity that is Deprecated. Cast from members of the mighty Suffocation, Decrepit Birth, and Disgorge, Deprecated is the embodiment of agonizing brutality.
"While the solid foundation of original members AJ Magaña, Derek Boyer and Torrey Moores oversee the composition of Deprecated's material, the addition of Terrence Hobbs and Matt Sotelo fuse to be one of death metals more formidable string sections to date. Both Terrence and Matt being of polar opposite styles in their respective bands bring their influential talents and unyielding ferocity together with that of Deprecated’s old school approach to exploit and pulverize ones adrenal gland in its vice.
"After the tracks for the 'Deriding His Creation' re-release were recorded, the final piece was to be put in place by utilizing one of the industry's top engineers to ensure the albums message was clearly stated. Zack Ohren of Castle Ultimate studios known for engineering releases for bands such as Suicide Silence, Severed Savior, Decrepit Birth, Suffocation, Immolation and Six Feet Under, just to mention a few, brings the over indulgent aggression of Deprecated's music to a mirrored finish ensuring fans of all that is heavy to question the direction that death metal has so unfortunately taken."
The official worldwide street date for “Deriding His Creation” has been set for October 1st, 2013.
We Butter The Bread With Butter has just premiered a new music video for “Alles Was Ich Will” with CraveOnline. Check out the video below.

Everyone's favorite alien overlord and lead-throat thing of GWAR, Oderus Urungus, will take a brief break from his arctic slumber to get "fucked up with the fans" for the debut of the GWAR-B-Q beer.
The beer was created from a recipe by Rob Chalmers especially for the upcoming GWAR-B-Q (August 17th in Richmond,VA), but as a special treat for the fans Oderus himself will be travelling (via bat-shaped helicopter, of course.) to Ybor City, Florida to officially debut the brand-new, mind-altering product.
"This is another milestone on the road leading to the GWAR-B-Q, the new GWAR album, and the brand-new GWAR show we will be putting on tour this fall," said the hardest-partying front-creature in rock. "I am looking forward to meeting with the fans, getting incredibly wasted, and then vomiting all over them. Then we will sell that!"
The event, which is presented by GWAR, Cigar City Brewing, Crowbar Live and DMD will feature free samples of the all new GWAR B-Q Beer as well as Brutal Burgers topped with GWAR-B-Q Sauce.
"Next product? GWAR meat!" said Oderus. Admission to the event is five dollars at the door. The first fifty fans wearing GWAR gear or attire will be admitted free. In addition to the guzzling and the gorging, the event will also feature live music from GWAR ATTACK, (GWAR cover band), American Fix, Black Tides Roll and Doom Wolf. The event is 18 and up. More...

"A power-trio in the grand tradition of early Sodom, Venom, and Motorhead, the three nuclear zombies of Shitfucker gnarl together ancient blackthrash and toxic hardcore-punk into a blown-out brew bubbling over with disease, degradation, and devil worship. Portland’s punk metal combatants Toxic Holocaust recently completed the recording for a forthcoming new full-length.
Titled "Chemistry Of Consciousness," the 12-track beast of an offering was recorded by the band, mixed with Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou at his own GodCity Studio, and mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, From Ashes Rise, Nails) at Audiosiege Engineering.
Elaborates Toxic Holocaust founder Joel Grind: "I'm excited to announce that the new Toxic Holocaust record has been completed. We recorded it ourselves like we did last time but this time around we had our friend Kurt Ballou mix. It's sounding so crushing! Lots and lots of distortion! Musically I went into a more punky territory than the last record while still maintaining the Toxic Holocaust sound. I look forward to everyone hearing it!”
"Chemistry Of Consciousness" is set to deploy this Fall via Relapse Records. Further details – including cover art and track listing - are to be revealed in the coming weeks.
The tune comes courtesy of the band’s full-length debut, "Scorn," initially released earlier this year via a collaboration between Throatruiner and Mordgrimm Records. "Scorn" was recorded by Dave Otero at Flatline Audio (Cephalic Carnage, Catheter, Cobalt) and delivers a demoralizing brand of blackened doom through seven asphyxiating odes of hatred, disease, and despair.

Check out the song "Slaughtered" below, which features Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater. The following press release was also issued about Lalu:
"The latest in a long line of releases from the composer, including group and collaborative efforts with other artists in the progressive rock/metal realms as well as previous solo excursions, several of which saw release via Lion Music and other notable labels, Atomic Ark bears the most extensive works from Vivien Lalu to date.
"A cinematic masterpiece boasting an array of beautiful and expansive elements as well as some darker, ominous passages, Atomic Ark surges with over fifty minutes of prime progressive prowess, the album was fully conceived and composed by Lalu. The composer also enlisted an all-star lineup including vocalist Martin LeMar (Mekong Delta), bassist Mike LePond (SymphonyX), guitarist Simone Mularoni (DGM) and drummer Virgil Donati (PlanetX), in addition to countless guest contributions, to complete the album. Of these notable guest appearances, the massive track "Slaughtered" -- which has today been unveiled -- features solos from keyboardist Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment) and guitarist Marco Sfogli (James LaBrie)."
The "Atomic Ark" album is confirmed for release via Sensory Records on September 9th in Europe and September 10th in North America. Stay tuned for more album updates and additional music from the album to be released in the coming weeks. More...
SPV/Steamhammer has signed a worldwide deal with NWoBHM cult act Battleax. The deal is not only for a new studio album called "Heavy Metal Sanctuary," which is due in early 2014, it also includes the deluxe re-releases of "Burn This Town" (out in October 2013) and "Power From The Universe" (out late summer 2014) with new covers, extended booklets, and lots of bonus material.
The current line-up consists of the original members Dave King (vocals) and Brian Smith (bass) as well as Mick Percy (guitar) and Paul Atkinson (drums). Dave King and Brian Smith say about the signing:
"We think speaking for the whole band that we are all elated to be joining the SPV family. A label with great worldwide distribution and also featuring some of our favourite bands. It is wonderful to have the opportunity to re-release our old classic albums again as well as introduce our fans to our new more powerful sound. After a long and hard struggle we have finally managed to complete our new album Heavy Metal Sanctuary which we know will delight our fans worldwide.
"We do not think it will disappoint in either the songs or the production, and we feel that although it sounds modern and 21st century, it is still classic Battleaxe! We thank all our loyal fans all over the world who encouraged us to reform (indeed some even demanded it), even though some of you were not even born when the original albums were first released. Now because of this new deal, we will be able to see many of you in 2014 on the European festival scene and possibly around the world. Finally of course many many thanks to Olly Hahn and all the staff at SPV for making this dream come true! "
SPV/Steamhammer A&R Olly Hahn ads: "Sometimes you have to do something....and I did. As a child of the NWoBHM due to the lack of informations you had to buy by the cover. In some cases the cover were good but the music average, in other cases the cover were not really good but the music was killer. This happened to me when I bought "Burn This Town". The whole album, as well as the second one "Power From The Universe", are classics for me and I know for many metal fans too. And I heard the new songs which are really strong and will surprise a lot of people. Yes, the band is ready to deliver...so are we!"

Danish thrashers Caro are pleased to announce the release of their new album, "Letchworth Village," set to hit stores on July 17th, 2013. The following press release was issued about the album:
"Letchworth Village marks the second full-length for Caro, and although they stick to their roots on this release, Caro manages to capture a tornado in a bottle.
"Fast riffs, screaming solos and guttural vocals that some describe as a cross between Barney from Napalm Death and Randy from Lamb of God, Caro's hard old school thrash is nonstop aggression. Letchworth Village captures the high intensity gritty and energetic live performance of the band and captures it in the studio. The bands aggression can be heard in every track you listen to.
"Caro is a thrash band from Frederikshavn, Denmark. The band was formed in 2007 under the name Omen, but changed to Caro in 2011. The band is inspired by different bands and playing a mix of thrash, death and progressive metal. To date the band has toured extensively in Denmark and Europe as well as played numerous festivals both in and out of their home country. Caro is a touring band and looks forward to playing in your town soon." More...

Chicago's Diamond Plate has officially revealed that the band's upcoming album is titled "Pulse." Fans were kept in suspense each day last week as the album title was uncovered one letter at a time.
The follow-up to Diamond Plate's 2011 debut album, "Generation Why?" (reviewed here) was recorded with producer Neil Kernon (Judas Priest, Nevermore, Deicide) at Studio Chicago. Diamond Plate comments:
"During the months of recording, the album took on a life of its own. Our goal was to capture the energy of a live band, and working with Neil gave us the freedom to create the music we've always wanted to play. A straightforward explanation of the title 'PULSE' is that it represents music, or life, in its purest form. The real meaning behind the album can only be discovered by the person using his/her ears."
The artwork for Pulse was created by artist Gustavo Sazes (Morbid Angel, Arch Enemy, Sepultura). Check it out below. "Pulse" is due to be released on August 20th in the USA via Century Media/Earache Records and on digital formats in Europe on August 19th. More...
Dream Theater’s self-titled album – the band’s 12th studio release overall, and fourth with Roadrunner Records – will be released this coming September 24th, 2013. Guitarist John Petrucci comments:
“I see every new album as an opportunity to start over. To either build or improve upon a direction that has been evolving over time or to completely break new ground. This is the first self-titled album of our career and there is nothing I can think of that makes a statement of musical and creative identity stronger than that. We’ve fully explored all of the elements that make us unique, from the epic and intense to the atmospheric and cinematic. We’re incredibly excited about Dream Theater and can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”
The nine-track disc was recorded at Cove City Studio in Glen Cove, Long Island, with guitarist Petrucci producing and Richard Chycki engineering and mixing. It’s the band’s second album with drummer Mike Mangini, and the first one on which he was a part of the writing process from the beginning. More...

Thanks to everyone for love, support, inspiration and encouragement over the years. Tuska Open Air Metal Festival promised to be an event to remember this year, with huge acts such as King Diamond, Wintersun and Nightwish taking command of the main stage! With finally perfect summer weather and a lineup that challenged many other summer festivals, Friday came with much awaited anticipation!
Many of the bands this year were scheduled at the same time, perhaps the cause of this was that in the past there have always been four stages, but this year there were only three. Only two of these stages allowed media to shoot footage and photos, which led to a massive and unfortunate stress factor to an otherwise phenomenal festival experience. In addition, overcrowded photo pits with unqualified photographers led to an unfortunate decline in coverage from other medias this year. Die hard Tuska fans and Medias still showed up in hordes, and showed why Tuska is still the metal festival to be at in Helsinki! More...
