Finnish act Children of Bodom, which recently signed to Nuclear Blast Records, has issued the following announcement about canceling upcoming shows due to frontman Alexi Laiho being hospitalized:
“It is with great regret that we are forced to cancel tonight’s show in Oslo as well as tomorrow night’s show in Malmö.
"Alexi was rushed to the Oslo hospital earlier this evening with extreme stomach pain. The doctors in the emergency unit checked him and while we are still waiting for a diagnosis, they made clear that he will not be able to perform within the next 48 hours.
"We apologize to all our fans who have bought tickets to these shows - we will try to reschedule both Oslo and Malmö at the earliest possibility. Keep your fingers crossed with us that Alexi will get well again soon!”

Galaxicon is officially releasing its debut album "Old Gods" on July 7th, and is streaming all six tracks from it over on Bandcamp, or stream it all below. The Memphis band plays a hybrid of doom/sludge with an old school style. "Old Gods" was recorded and mixed by Alan Burcham at The Secret Team Headquarters in Memphis, TN and mastered by James Plotkin at Plotkinworks. Art design and layout are courtesy of Enfectious Erf. Galaxicon previously released an EP titled "Rapture of the Deep" and a split with The Unbeheld in 2011, both releases which are streaming on the same Bandcamp page.
Every week we catch up with metal bands from around the globe to share their best mosh pit stories. While the pit is frequently home to drunken antics and bone breaking action, if you ask enough metal bands for bizarre pit stories, most of them will eventually have a memory or two of overly-amorous show goers.
After last week's lengthy story of a Meshuggah show enhanced by brain-altering fungus, today we've got a much shorter and sweeter tale of a metal fan who just couldn't quite wait to get home to express his affections with his lady. Shaun Glass, guitarist for Dirge Within, had this story to share:
One time - I believe in Houston - we were on stage, midway through our set I look up to see the whole pit stop and stare. What were they looking at? A guy was giving some girl oral sex against the wall of the speakers of the PA! They obviously did not care that 500 metal heads were also watching ha!
In other Dirge Within news, the band recently dropped off the Shockwave Festival, and also shot a music video for "Memories," which will be released soon.
Check back in again next Tuesday for more pit stories shared by metal fans and bands. If you've got a story of pit love, feel free to share below!

Indie Recordings is proud to announce the signing of Norwegian act Posthum. The label commented:
"The sound of Posthum is the sound of dark, Norwegian forests and endless snow-covered plains. It is melancholic, atmospheric and hypnotizing Norwegian Black Metal. They released their debut album 'Posthum' in 2009 receiving great reviews from the underground press, and triggering a strong demand for a swift sequel.
"The band was formed in 2004 in a small town in the east of Norway, and until 2009 Posthum kept fairly isolated from other musical communities and bands. This resulted in their music not being particularly influenced by the trends in the scene, and despite their obvious roots in Norwegian Black Metal Posthum sounds new and fresh. Their debut record ensured them some well-deserved attention that lead to a European Tour with legendary Satyricon and Shining (SE) the same year.
"In fact, Posthum’s first concert ever was supporting Satyricon and Shining in front of a completely sold-out venue with 800 fans in Antwerp, Belgium. Not a bad way to start their career. Since then Posthum has played at Under The Black Sun Festival in Germany, done several shows in Norway and a toured Europe again with Nargaroth and Chaos Invocation. Since their debut the band has earned a reputation for being a rock solid live band with emphasis on good songs rather than image extravagance."
The band also commented on its name: "The name Posthum means 'after exitus,' which especially refers to compositions and tributes to dead artists. For the band Posthum is a tribute and reminder to all life that has existed before them. It’s fascinating to know that what surrounds us are the results of the efforts of ordinary mortal explorers, of flesh and blood, and that one day we too will be history, but what we leave behind is something very alive, the music.”
From the depths of a dingy basement to gearing up for the release of a debut album, "Lager than Life," and hitting the road across the US, Boston’s Sonic Pulse has come a long way in two short years.

Additionally, "The Great Food Truck Race"-winning Grill 'Em All truck will be serving metal themed burgers before the show from 6:00pm-8:00pm. The following press release was also issued by Metal Blade:
"Revisiting the electrifying sounds of bullshit-free 70s rock, Gypsyhawk are a breath of fresh air compared to the endless onslaught of breakdown obsessed bands cluttering up heavy music. Marinating their wares in whiskey and weed, they hurl out blistering riffs and irresistible hooks and grooves, doing their damnedest to ensure that everyone at their shows is having as much fun as they are. With Revelry & Resilience, their second full-length and Metal Blade debut, this vibe bleeds from the speakers from start to finish, determinedly putting a smile on your face and compelling you to throw your hair around, no matter how much or how little you might have."
"It's music for girls to shake their asses to and dudes to bang their heads," states vocalist/bassist Eric Harris. "It's good-time rock and roll, and we don't take ourselves too seriously, but at the same time we're not one-dimensional 'yeah-dude-let's-party-all-the-fucking-time!' guys, and I like to think there's something for everyone in our music."
"Reverly & Resilience" will be in stores on August 28th, 2012. Gypsyhawk will be performing as part of the Mayhem Festival Cruise alongside Lamb of God, Anthrax, Machine Head, Hatebreed, and label mates Battlecross, plus many more from December 7th - December 10th. Instrumental progressive metal act Dysrhythmia has completed work on new album, “Test Of Submission.” Profound Lore Records commented on the album:
"With 'Test Of Submission' (the band’s sixth full-length album) the trio of Kevin Hufnagel, Colin Marston, and Jeff Eber have delivered their darkest, most devastating and intense album of their 13-year career. An album where the usual Dysrhythmia mannerisms interweave through the band’s distinct style of progressive/jazz-infused rhythms and intense counterpoint, all while providing a new sense of catchiness and even melody. 'Test Of Submission' is also an album in which Dysrhythmia will rightfully reclaim the throne in an overbearing scene of acts who merely, and feebly attempt to try and match the New York power-trio’s musical skill, prowess, and of course their sense of artistry. To no avail.
"In what guitarist Kevin Hufnagel (also of present-day Gorguts) states that the new Dysrhythmia album (to officially be released Aug 28th) was his most challenging recording endeavor yet, tracklisting to 'Test Of Submission' goes as follows:" More...
Drone's new album entitled "For Torch and Crown" will be released via Metalville Records on July 31st. Today the tracklisting and artwork have been revealed and can be found below. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"Modern high quality thrash metal, Drone are four guys who have taken grasp of metal, delivering it as precise as a bullet from a gun on and off of the stage! Their success is no hidden lie to the scene; DRONE bring forth a highly important aspect to thrash metal across Europe, that's a fact.
"In August of 2006 the band from Celle, Germany pushed on through to win the 'International Wacken Metal Battle.' The following year saw the release of their debut album Head-On Collision which followed with worldwide tours with the likes of Overkill, Pro-Pain and Ektomorf. The tours included shows including the Wacken Open Air Festival, With Full Force Festival, Inferno Festival, and Summer Breeze amongst others.
"The second Drone album Juggernaut was released in March of 2009. The album was met with critical acclaim and the band continued their global domination in support of the album. After a successful headlining tour in 2011, the band once again brought their focus back to bringing more thrash to the fans with their third full length album." More...

September 11th will see the release of two classics from Sweden’s Funeral Mist, namely “Devilry” and “Salvation,” through Season of Mist. The label issued the following press release:
"'Devilry' features not only the complete recording of the 1998 EP, including the originally vinyl-only 'Hellspell 2' bonus song, but also the 'Havoc' demo from 1996. The early days of Funeral Mist were placed under the sign of a ferocious and vicious Black Metal, yet always underlined by a sick sense for the unexpected. Song structures, melodies and vocal patterns, yes, even a drum solo, make the 'Devilry' and 'Havoc' sessions stand out then as much as today: Funeral Mist was born under the doomed star of unmistakable uniqueness."
The track listing is:
1. The Devil's Emissary
2. Bringer of Terror
3. Nightside Phantom
4. Funeral Mist
5. The God Supreme
6. Hellspell 2
7. Realm of Shades
9. Nightside Phantom [demo version]

On September 11th, Season of Mist will release Swedish black metal act Ofermod’s debut, “Mystérion Tés Anomias,” in North America. Originally recorded in 1998, this EP also includes two songs from 2004. Season of Mist commented:
"Ofermod is a name that people within the underground black metal scene pronounce with respect and in awe. Much of the current Swedish black metal sound, as heralded by bands such as Watain, finds its origin in the early works of Ofermod. The abyssal atmosphere, the sinister chord progressions, the violent and commanding drumming, a depraved demonlike voice - all of the above is Ofermod’s genuine trademark."
The track listing is:
1. Mystérion Tés Anomias
2. Chained to Redemption
3. Khabs Am Pekht
4. Rape the World

The songs are regretful of the bad times, hopeful of times to come, and respectful of the great power that causes all thing to be. "

Extreme metal machine Hate has started the recording sessions for a next album titled "Solarflesh," which is set to be released worldwide via Napalm Records in January, 2013. The band’s leader ATF Sinner states:
“Here we are in Sound Division Studio in Warsaw working with Filip 'Heinrich' Halucha and Arek 'Malta' Malczewski (Behemoth’s soundguy) behind the console. We are aware that 'SOLARFLESH' is going to be our sickest, most hypnotic and diverse album up to date - the biggest challenge and definitely new chapter in our career.
"It’s not just like recording another album… it’s a real transition! On this album we definitely explore new territories and push the boundaries of this beautiful and sick genre to its absolute limits! The material contains 12 collages. Most of them are insanely fast (270 bpm). Others are groovy, trance-like mantras that seem to haunt you forever. They all have rich background of samples and other elements that make them sound multidimensional.
"We also have several dark ambient compositions that seem like complete avant-garde. I’ve been working on them with Michal Staczkun, the guy who did excellent job on our previous album 'Erebos.' We are also working on a few songs with Androniki Skoula, a singer from Greece, known for her involvement in the project Chaostar, as well as collaboration with Septicflesh and Rotting Christ. She’s adding some 'Hellenic' flair to the songs that makes them even more elaborate."
The album will be mixed by Wieslawski Bros (Hertz Studio) next month. Stay tuned for more info on "Solarflesh."
Traditional/classic metal act Dragonsclaw checked in with Metalunderground.com with the first details of the band's upcoming EP and full length follow up to the debut release "Prophecy" (See review at this location).
In a full interview with vocalist Giles Lavery (to be posted later this week), the band is currently in the process of completing the writing process for the follow up to "Prophecy," which started in November 2011. As Lavery explains, the band plans to release an extended EP/single entitled "Judgement Day" in late November as a prelude to the yet untitled full length release in 2013:
"We have about 15 tracks in various states of completion, and we are at the moment making the selection process of the strongest ideas…there will be an EP out around late November which will be in advance of the album…the title is 'Judgement Day' this is our single and first taste of the album, it a very catchy metal track, similar in some ways to “Angels in White” off the first but a little harder. Also on the EP will be 4 other non-album tracks, that are very very good indications of the growth of the songwriting. Those tracks are titled “Watching My Every Move” “Fear” “Battle Cry” and “Eternally”. Rounding out this rather long EP (for a low EP price) will be a couple cover tunes of some classic underground metal tracks many will know… and 2 live songs from our recent tour with Steve Grimmett."
Stay tuned for the full interview to follow later this week.

"You already know that the Mountain King himself, Mr. Jon Oliva, will be guest on the new album leading his voice on two tracks. But we have also other great guest performance on the album. Wintersun’s guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari laid down an Incredible guitar solo on a track called 'Walking Dead' (oh yes, this is the very first new title revealed! …cool as the tv series at least!!). You will hear it.
"Also Maurizio Cardullo from our dear fellows Folkstone has taken care of all the folk instruments in the album. So you will hear a lot of bagpipes, tin whistles, low whistlesthrough the songs. What do you think about that? And last but not least the gorgeous and amazing Finnish singer Netta Dahlberg performed some female vocals. If you have the lastAmorphis album, well she IS that amazing voice! More...
