In other news, Nolentia has released the official music video for the track "More to Fear," taken from the band's latest full-length, "May the Hand that Holds the Match that Will Set this World on Fire be Blessed above All." The video for "More to Fear" is the first in a three-part series of individual video that, once completed, will be compiled into a single cinematic rendition of Nolentia-spawned madness. Check out "More to Fear" below.
The raucous good time Tacoma punkers C.F.A. (Cody Foster Army) have announced that the second of four upcoming videos is ready for public consumption, and the heavy rockin' trio partnered up with The Ripple Effect for the world premiere. The video for "Sons of the Soil" is another hysterical walk down the CFA brand of stonercore rock. Check it out below.
As Cody Foster says, "Alright this one is a video that CFA as a band had to reach out to friends for supplies/material donations. CFA had to build a set one evening and then film on another and tear it down the day after. This was so the other bands that share the space didn't have their schedules interrupted."
The video footage for the song "Sons of the Soil" was shot on June 19th from 7 pm to 2 am. Foster turned 40 during the shoot. "Trying not to give away what we did," Foster said, "We can say that the concept is one of those considered classic physical comedy." The proof is the heating pad and ice pack being applied to Cody's limbs that didn't work upon waking up the next day, his first morning being 40.
CFA had the opportunity to be filmed by Jack Saffle, better known for shooting pro skaters for the past 10 years. He also brought with him Addie Stonack and Jaynee Schmidtke to capture a second prospective shooting style and still shots, adjusting lighting and camera angles and hanging from the ceiling. Stonack say's Jack's style is meticulous very clear and well executed. She referred to her style as more gorilla and combining the two is bad ass.
There will also be making of footage and stills available at the end of the video.
Following on the heels of their groundbreaking marionette video for "Miracle" off the "Trails out of Gloom" album, Vancouver progressive rockers Fen are now set to release the latest video for "The Glove" from their fifth and latest album "Of Losing Interest." About the video, main Fen man Doug Harrison says:
"I came up with the video idea based on an experience in a public men's room where a guy came out of the stall and wanted my help in putting a white, woolen glove on his hand, which appeared to have something wrong with it. I didn't know if it was a genuine request for help or a trick to get me in a vulnerable position. After I wrote the script, I showed it to the other guys in Fen but no one wanted to be in the video. I also showed it to the guys at our label Ripple Music to see if they would do it. They were apprehensive as well. The two main actors ended up being friends of friends, guys who didn't mind tussling around in a public washroom on camera while patrons from the ice rink came in to do their business."
German progressive death metallers Nailed To Obscurity have posted a teaser for "Opaque," the band's forthcoming sophomore album and first to feature new vocalist Raimund Ennenga. Check out the teaser below. The follow-up to the band's 2007, self-released debut "Abyss," "Opaque" will be released on September 20th in Germany, September 23rd in the UK and the rest of Europe and October 1st in North America through Apostasy Records. "Opaque" was produced together with Lasse Lammert at LSD-Studio in Lübeck, Germany. Artwork comes courtesy of Ben Borucki (Irrleuchten).
The band comments, "By suppressing our deepest feelings and by concealing our fears and emotions we mask our inner self. This topic runs like a red thread through our new album. No other title would fit the content better than 'Opaque.' The artwork, which was done by Ben Borucki, captures this atmosphere perfectly and creates a symbiosis between the music, the lyrics and the art."
Eldritch Lunar Miasma, having just released Finnish occult metal band Pantheon Of Blood's "Tetrasomia" EP on mCD format, will be releasing a limited cassette tape version of it on August 5th. Tetrasomia is a musical study of the elements referring to a concept made known by Empedocles - the study of the basic Elements.
Like a breath in the Air, a smooth wavering of the Waters, a dense matter of the Earth, a fiery inspiration of the Fire: All these qualities in Man and Nature are manifested and made alive by Pantheon Of Blood through the Pranic Pulse. Stream two songs from the four-track "Tetrasomia" below.
Within Madness, a new melodic death metal band from Namibia, writes in that they are currently recording a demo this weekend. The band plans to record three songs, starting with drums on Sunday.
The band has been busy touring Botswana and will soon tour South Africa as well. In the meantime, you can follow their progress on Facebook.

In continued support of the "Once Denied" album (released May 4th 2013), Canadian metal band Shock is proud to release the video for the song "Paths of Glory."
The video follows the fictional story of the attempted overthrow of a corrupt government by an equally corrupt rebellion. With both sides promising victory and power to the people, in the end, the people are the losers either way.

Oklahoma-based metalcore quintet 2X4 has teamed up with HM Magazine for the premiere of a lyric video for the “Refined By Fire” single.
The song is off the "Dark Hand" release, which hits shelves on July 30th. The follow-up to the "Dead Days" album acquaints audiences with the band's newly cultivated, matured sound. When asked about the inspiration and message behind “Refined By Fire”, 2X4’s vocalist Micah Hutson stated:
“Refined by Fire is about realizing that the only way to progress is by acceptance. When we wrote our first CD 'Dead Days,' I literally hated everything. A few things happened in my life over this past year, and after seeing the effects it had, it made me realize that hatred is just another chain in a person's life.”
The album's track listing is as follows:
1. Refined by Fire
4. Dark Hand feat. Jorge Sotomayer
5. Nothing Left
7. Struck Down Cast Out feat. James Mislow More...

Blood & Ink Records has issued the following announcement about a new album from Strengthen What Remains:
"Few bands embody the notion of hard work like Tampa, Florida’s Strengthen What Remains. Since first hitting the road in 2008, not only have they continually pushed themselves to improve musically and lyrically, but they’ve also used their passion as fuel through the best and worst of times. Anyone would be hard pressed to find a more heartfelt and genuine band in hardcore today.
"For their first Blood & Ink Records release, 'Turning A Blind Eye,' Strengthen What Remains demonstrate just how much growth they’ve experienced both musically and personally since their earlier recordings. Recorded with Dean Baltulonis (Madball, Trapped Under Ice, Fire & Ice) and mastered by David Gardner (Primitive Weapon, Dillinger Four), 'Turning A Blind Eye' packs a harsh musical punch and lyrical potency few albums in recent years could match.
"Without a doubt, Strengthen What Remains have created something special, sure to garner respect of critics and fans alike."

"This psychedelic combo from Barcelona, Spain was formed in 2009 and their sound is characterized by dark and fragile melodies, forcefulness, electronic base and very authentic and personal vocals.
"The lyrics of the band are based on the connection between 'what is real and what is non' in this world, of an inward, possessing and emotional charged, fusing feelings, sensations, experiences and thoughts. A combination which has been essential to receive outstanding reviews from the specialized press.
"After one EP and a successful first album entitled 'An Eerie Sense Of Calm,' A Tempered Heart are currently immersed in the composition process of their new and second album, which will be released in the first months of 2014."

American Aftermath has presented the premiere of "Crimes of the Mind," a song off Trenchfoot's side of the new upcoming Old Wounds/Trenchfoot split, due out August 13th on Melotov Records. Check out the song below.
Young guns from upstate New York, Trenchfoot's dark, brooding hardcore has roots in the sounds of Tragedy, Cursed, and Converge. American Aftermath refers to Trenchfoot's latest work as a "scorching hardcore opus" and christens the Old Wounds/Trenchfoot collaboration "one of the gnarliest splits of the year."
All the material for the split was recorded by Kevin Bernsten at Developing Nations (Pulling Teeth, Full of Hell). Both of Trenchfoot's prior releases - a self-titled 7" and the "Endless Disgust" 7" - were recorded by Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou at GodCity Studio.
The new 12" EP from Parisian filthy metallic hardcore act Cowards is up for pre-order and free download from Throatruiner Records and Ruins Records.
Recorded by producer Francis Caste (Kickback, Eibon, Arkhon Infaustus) at Sainte-Marthe Studio and illustrated by tattoo artist/illustrator Jean-Luc Navette, "Hoarder" is due out September 15th and features five new tracks of throat-ripping hardcore/sludge, including a massive cover of 16 Horsepower's "Blessed Persistence."
"I wish to speak to you today about the tragedy of Europe." So begins the speech sample from English PM Sir Winston Churchill that starts “Twelve Stars And An Azure Gown (An Anthem For Europa),” the fifth track off the new Atlantean Kodex LP, "The White Goddess (A Grammar Of Poetic Myth)."
The entire concept of Germany’s Atlantean Kodex is expressly European in nature from the classically influenced melodies, to the lyrics and concepts that inspire the towering, grandiose heaviness of the songs, on through the band’s use of German Romantic Caspar David Friedrich’s “Monk by the Sea” as cover art. The following press release was issued about the coming album:
"Continuing on from the band’s previous album, 2010’s 'The Golden Bough,' Atlantean Kodex has built upon its sound to achieve an album like no other released in 2013. Many bands and labels lay claim to the word 'epic' to describe a particular band’s sound but on The White Goddess, their name becomes synonymous with the term in a way very bands ever manage. Drawing from traditional heavy metal, doom and Norse metal influences, The White Goddess achieves the bands strongest songwriting, lyrics, vocal performance and production yet, already nearly without equal on their previous LP. Unequivocally The White Goddess is the best pure heavy metal record of 2013. More...

The Vision Bleak will be returning with a fifth studio album titled "Witching Hour" on September 27th, 2013. Pre-orders are available at this location. Prophecy Productions comments:
"Three years after 'Set Sail To Mystery,' the masters of Horror Metal have undergone creative rejuvenation. With the spontaneity and playfulness of 'Witching Hour,' Schwadorf and Konstanz hark back to their debut 'The Deathship Has A New Captain,' and the slogan 'creepy and haunting entertainment' has not been more topical and fitting ever since 2004.
"The comprehensive witchcraft concept of 'Witching Hour' highlights the duo as morbid storytellers with a bizarrely brutal, yet also entertaining assortment of fairytales and myths up their sleeves. Familiar elements such as groovy, driving riffs, sublime, melodic lead guitars and Konstanz' unique voice are still the defining characteristics, yet new implementations like the haunting flute or the most versatile and sinister vocals so far are crucial to the fact that 'Witching Hour' in its entirety sounds more dour and unfathomable than earlier recordings." "We are very proud to announce the signing of Scottish extreme metal maniacs Man Must Die for a world wide release (outside the UK) of their next album in late October via Lifeforce Records. The band is currently at Valvetone studios putting the final touches on the new effort.
"Man Must Die are an extreme metal band hailing from Glasgow, Scotland. Formed in 2002 and originally born of the founding members' desire to push their music to new levels of intensity and brutality, the band's dedication to their craft has since manifested itself in a rich touring history, sharing stages with such acts as Exodus, Machine Head and Decapitated. As well as this, they have released three full-length studio albums. These are 2004's '...Start Killing,' released on Retribute Records, followed by 'The Human Condition' (2007) and the highly acclaimed 'No Tolerance for Imperfection' (2009), both on Relapse Records.
"Their music manages to incorporate the heaviest elements of extreme metal whilst retaining an attuned sense of melody, confidently shifting from epic, uplifting passages to pure sickness. Augmented by a keen compositional flair and furious, socially aware vocals, Man Must Die are a highly focused musical force.
"Now in 2013, having formed a new alliance with Lifeforce Records, Man Must Die find themselves on the verge of unleashing their greatly anticipated fourth full-length, which promises to forge new sonic ground for the band whilst remaining every bit as destructive and darkly satisfying as their devotees have come to expect."

We've deliberately tried to evoke the feeling of that album and Heartwork.”

Yukon, Oklahoma prog metal outfit Cascus just released a self-titled EP, and today we're bringing you a track from the new offering. Check out "Malevolent" in the player provided below, and let us know what you think of the track in the comments section.
Independently recorded, mixed, and mastered in Oklahoma City, the band aims to incorporate fresh elements into the death metal genre.
"We worked very hard to put this together," offers guitarist and vocalist Jay Gleason. "We wanted to do proper justice to the music, give it a chance to become what we wanted it to be. Our influences are very diverse, and that definitely comes through."
The band also commented on its sound: "The founding members, Jay Gleason, Jeren Martin and Dustin Townsend, with the later addition Cameron Conyer, are the collection of four of Oklahoma's most passionate musicians who are on a mission to create a listening environment that evokes a sensory expedition. The result is a massive and arcane sound, with the power of an ancient battle and the majesty of the most distant constellations."
