New England black metal act Autolatry has checked in with the following update about recording new material:
"After a kickass show in Jacksonville, we were all eager to get to Dave's apartment down in St. Petersburg. We ended up driving through the night to get there — all 4 hours of it. We got to Dave's place at 6 AM and all melted out of the car into Dave's house. I was fortunate enough to be granted sleeping permission, as my generous band members wanted me to be on my A-game for the recording session the next day. I managed to scrape about 2.5 hours of half-sleep in the car, but kept on waking up because of the thunderous laughter resulting from Karl's jokes. All. Night. Long. (But seriously, he's the funniest man in black metal).
"My plan was to change my drum heads as soon as I got to Dave's place so that I could sleep for as long as possible right up until we had to leave for the studio. Instead, I ended up going right to bed and waking up with another 2 hours of sleep only to rely on coffee and sickly banana flavored energy shots (those shits are disgusting) to carry me through. Everything at the house went relatively smoothly, but as you may imagine, things got pretty hectic running on such little sleep.
"We arrived at Clear Track studios, from Clearwater, FL at about noon and began setting up drums promptly. Dave was engineering the session, and Sean helped out to dial in tones and place mics. We were all pleased with their facilities at the studio but experienced a total of about 1.5 hours of setbacks because the staff at that studio was quite disorganized. More...

Rite of Passage Records is proud to announce the addition of San Jose, CA’s The Wrath of Vesuvius to its roster. The band will hit the studio later this summer to begin work on an upcoming full-length album titled "Revelation." For now, a lyric video for the demo version of the title track “Revelation” can be seen in the player below. Rite of Passage also commented:
"Formed in 2009, The Wrath of Vesuvius has two previous releases, which the band put out independently. Additionally, the band has also toured along with west coast, playing with bands such as Whitechapel, Winds of Plague, Within The Ruins, and more. The combination of the independent releases and touring has helped the band build a sizeable following in the underground metal scene. It was the word of mouth buzz about the band that caught the attention of Rite of Passage in early 2012. After a few meetings, both sides felt the pairing of the band and the label was right and an agreement was signed."
“We were drawn to Rite of Passage because we’ve known about Mediaskare Records (ROP’s parent label) for years and know that they take care of their bands if they work hard,” stated the band. “We saw how other bands on the roster have grown and felt that Rite of Passage was the best fit to call home for The Wrath of Vesuvius.”
Commenting on the upcoming album, The Wrath of Vesuvius said, “We took a different approach to our songs this time around, such as having an overall darker feel and mood. There are multiple themes that play a role both lyrically and instrumentally. In the title track of our new album, 'Revelation,' the lyrics explain a very hopeless outlook on life, and it lays the groundwork for all the themes throughout the album. ‘Revelation’ contains negative themes along the lines of compulsive behavior, anxiety, depression, and the self-abuse that might entail.”
The album is not all dark and depressing though, as the band added “‘Revelation’ has positive outlooks as well, such as chasing one’s passions at all costs in order to feel content with life at the end of the day- despite being lost from the start.” More...

Drowning Pool split with third vocalist Ryan McCombs late last year, and now guitarist C.J. Pierce has issued the following announcement about officially recruiting new singer Jasen Moreno:
"It's been a real pleasure for all of us working with Jasen Moreno. He jumped right in and stepped up to the plate. He's everything we hoped for in a singer. Jasen came in and got straight to work on new music for our next CD.
"Out of respect to all past singers and most importantly the Drowning Pool fans he learned every song from every CD we've made in the past as well. Jasen has brought us not only a new voice but a new fire to the Drowning Pool sound. We all can't wait to get the new music out to there to everyone.
"With the live show, we just did a two week run and I have to say, I haven't had this much fun in over ten years. It's really great playing a lot of old songs and jamming some of the new tunes as well. I think some of my favorite moments on this run is when fans come up and request songs and we can play any song from any CD for them.
"Looking forward to the rest of our career with Jasen. The singer switch is finally over!"

Portugal's Moonspell has posted a new blog online discussing the band's history, as well as recent and upcoming activity. Front man Fernando Ribeiro comments:
"Summer set itself in all its grace and power in the land of Portugal but we take this three-week break from festivals to think about and organize the year. There is now a lot of expectation to run and it’s not an easy task to please all appetites.
"Do not pity us. The summer work of Moonspell is always pleasurable and sometimes we give in to some hours on the beach, or in my case, the balcony for fresh air, cold beer and friends. The prospect of a carefree summer is just another of our utopias and we know that being busy in the summer is actually a good thing. With its share of suffering, of course, couldn’t be otherwise.
"To sit down and write a few words is a more welcoming thought than an immediate action but I guess that’s children growing, asking for your full attention and nothing can really beat that smiley appeal of your own seed. Not even closing the deal to a festival, or arrange a forthcoming tour.
"Next week, we start to rehearse for Sombra/Shadow/Umbra show that we are specially recreating for Wacken. This has, so far, proven to be quite a Herculean job, as 16 people will be travelling from Portugal. Plus we will be using also local crew. In a few days, under the oppressing heat (AC is something studios mainly put away because it does interfere with the sound) Moonspell, Opus Diabolicum (the 4 cello/percussion combo which play with us on stage) and our singers Crystal Mountain Singers, we will be sweaty but happy, as this show is very special for all of us and hopefully the fans who will watch it. We have played a full tour of Sombra, in Portugal, and it was very successful. Wacken was looking to spice up their tremendous bill with some of these moments, so we got on the bill, because they liked what they heard and even if there is, momentarily, some anguished expectation if this show will go well in the World’s biggest METAL fest, the vibe is positive and, in the end, people will be surprised and, hopefully, enchanted as it happened in all the dates in our country.
