Belgium's extreme metal destroyers Lectamynol have released debut EP "Tools To Wield The Apes" as a free download. This punishing goliath of sound features four vicious tracks that slice apart multiple genres of extreme metal. The following press release was issued about the band:
"Like an insane surgeon Lectamynol stitches together the nastiest elements of death, thrash, black and doom metal into one venemous juggernaut of furious sound that takes no prisoners and makes no apologies. Savage, hypnotic and utterly decimating, Lectamynol attack their audience with a deranged style that is lethal as napalm and brutal as a Boston curb-job. Lectamynol is a departure of sound for the band members, since former outfits include the unrelentlessly heavy doom projects Thee Plague of Gentlemen, GURA, Möse, and AL2 RUIN, among others."

Australian act Altars will release the "Paramnesia" CD this coming September 6th, 2013 via Nuclear Winter Records. The label comments:
"At long last, one of death metal's best-kept secrets unleashes their debut album: Australian enigmas Altars and their heaving, harrowing Paramnesia. For the past four years, Altars have been quietly honing their craft across a demo, two splits, and a single, but on Paramnesia, the trio tear down all boundaries and set their sights for the abyss and ether alike. For Paramnesia is both death metal of a tangibly sepulchral, cavernously physical construct and yet brims with an almost-metaphysical levity as its serpentine structures and technical ecstasy work their black magick across its eight-song expense, reaching total transcendence during the final trio of tracks which comprise the three-part title track. Witness Altars' Paramnesia and commune with unforgettable energies."
The track listing is as follows:
4. Solar Barge
6. Descent (Paramnesia, part I)
7. Gibbous (Paramnesia, part II)
8. Ouroboros (Paramnesia, part III) More...

Jägermeister has been a proud sponsor of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival since its inception and this year is no different.
This year the festival stage is being headlined by Machine Head, a legendary JagerWorld experience, The Metal of Honor Award, the brand’s first-ever Guitar Shred-Meister competition, Celebrity Chef signings, and daily artist signings for those of legal drinking age.
Chef Chris Santos will join the 2013 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival for the remainder of the summer, where he will be taking part in signings at the Jägermeister booth, co-hosting the Shred-Meister competition, cooking Jägermeister-infused recipes at the official after-parties and for artists, and whipping up private meals for the headlining artists.
“I'm beyond excited to be joining the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival on behalf of Jagermeister and to spread the word about the Jägermeister 'Charred' BBQ Contest happening this summer,” states Santos. “I'll be doing signings daily and roaming the festival all day so if you see me grab me and say hello and we'll chat about Jäger or hit the pit!”
The chef's appearances are all a part of the “Charred, Earn your Place at the Pit” BBQ Competition, a search for the best grill recipes incorporating Jägermeister. The challenge, which kicked off in June, is divided into three categories: Cow, Bird, and Hog, from which Santos selects one winner per category. More...

Sweden's Shining (not to be confused with the Norwegian band of the same name that recently released the "One One One" album) will be teaming up with Dark Essence Records to release a new full-length album.
The band today reveals the cover art by Michal Pawlowski, available below. To be titled “8 ½ – Feberdrömmar I Vaket Tillstånd,” the album will be released in both CD and limited edition black or white 12” vinyl versions, with liner notes by Niklas Kvarforth, and is set to appear on the 23rd of September. All three versions are now available to pre-order from Dark Essence Records at this location or direct from the band here.
While the use of the number 8 ½ may seem a little strange to denote what would effectively be a 9th full-length album from the band, its use is deliberate because “8 ½ – Feberdrömmar I Vaket Tillstånd” is a rather special beast from Shining, consisting as it does of six songs from the “Livets Ändhållplats” and “Angst” era in their original pre-production versions but with the addition of newly recorded bass and guitars, as well as Lars Fredrik Fröslie’s keyboards, which the band didn’t start using until its sixth album.
Additionally, the vocals on each of the tracks will be performed by six different vocalists who have added their own interpretation and given a totally different dimension to all the songs. It’s a project that the Shining founder and frontman has wanted to do for many years now, and according to a press release also "serves as a kick in the teeth to all the bootleggers who have tried to illegally earn money for themselves off the back of the band’s hard work and creativity." Division has checked in with the following announcement about officially recruiting a new drummer:
"What's that thumping sound? Must be someone playing the drums!
"I figure I’ve put this off long enough – Division would like introduce Mark Taylor as our new drummer. Some of you will know Mark from his recent tenure in Almost Human. We’d like to thank Dan Roem from Cab Ride Home for providing the hookup (long before James left, actually).
"Thus far, Mark is fitting in well, which has to say something pretty awful about his mental state. We’re bringing him up to speed on the material in the standard Division manner – which is to say we’re insulting him when something is wrong – and Dave’s happy to have a FNG to pick on that’s actually 1.) new, and 2.) playing his usual instrument. (Hi, Tim!)
"Look for us to return in the fall, with some new material in addition to a selection of the old stuff."

GWAR is streaming the new track "Madness at the Core of Time." The song appears on the upcoming new album "Battle Maximus," which is due for release on September 17th via Metal Blade Records.
"Battle Maximus" is the first album to feature new guitarist Pustulus Maximus, who joined the band after the death of Cory Smoot a/k/a Flattus Maximus back in 2011.
Check out "Madness at the Core of Time" here:
Týr is streaming the new track "Blood of Heroes." The song appears on the band's upcoming new release "Valkyrja," the first for new label Metal Blade Records. The new album is slated for release on September 13th (G/A/S), September 16th (EU) and September 17th (North America).
"Valkyrja" is a concept album with a story line based loosely around an anonymous Viking age warrior who leaves his woman and goes off to impress the Valkyrie on the battlefield so that she may bring him to Valhalla, or to Fólkvangr, the home of Freyja—the goddess associated with love, sexuality, beauty, fertility, gold, sorcery, war, and death. One can say the album is also indirectly about women and how they affect men and what men will do to impress and obtain women. Frontman and founder Heri Joensen goes on to explain: “the woman that the warrior leaves may represent the earthly women. Freyja, The Lady Of The Slain, may represent the perfection of Women, and the Valkyrie is the link between the two, taking men from earthly to godly women."
The album was produced by Jacob Hansen and the drums were recorded by Nile drummer George Kollias. Check out "Blood of Heroes" here:
Jucifer is a band that, until a few years ago, tangled with a split personality. Their studio albums were a schizo blend of pop, grind, acoustic, and upbeat metal, while their live show was literally a wall of sound (thanks to amps stacked to the ceiling). The difference between the two sides began to close in with 2010’s excellent “Throned in Blood,” and bends further towards each other with the band’s new album, which has a title in Russian and has been called by many fans "The Russian Album." A concept album about the Battle of Stalingrad during World War II and the land it was fought on, Jucifer completely overwhelms the senses over the course of 75 minutes.
They are one of the best live bands around today, thanks in small part to year-round touring that has taken them all over the world in recent years. They have also increased their profile thanks to a constant social media presence. A lot of that is done by the hands of vocalist/guitarist Gazelle Amber Valentine, who can go from a heavenly whisper to a bone-shaking roar in no time flat. I had the chance to send some questions to her via email. She sent me back detailed answers that go into the new album and get into some interesting territory, including the possibility of a covers record in the future. More...
Greece's Seduce the Heaven, which split with the band's vocalist last week, has checked in with the following update about searching for a replacement:
"We are extremely happy to see the amount of talent entering our auditions for the new female lead singer position. We would like to thank everyone participating on this and showing professionalism, excitement and great effort to work with us.
"At this stage all singers that meet our criteria will be given some songs from our debut album 'Field Of Dreams,' without the vocals and record over them. On September the best candidates will jam live along with STH in the studio. Then of course we will start working on some new ideas vocally with the best voices from those auditions. One of them will become our new member of the STH family and our new front-woman!
"In the meantime we are really excited to work on new material for our next album! This time the whole band has joined forces on the composition area and we can promise you that the new album will kick some SERIOUS ASS!!"
