Barbarian Prophecies Signs With WormHoleDeath

Wormholedeath and Lost Penguin Conspiracy present: Barbarian Prophecies. Wormholedeath will distribute and market the new album from Spanish death metal assault Barbarian Prophecies titled "XIII." The release date is set for early autumn 2013, and a preview clip can be heard below. The band comments:

“We are very proud to announce that our next album, 'XIII," will be released under the label WormHoleDeath, which makes us one of the first Spanish bands in being part of this label. After having self-released our previous record, 'Remember the Fallen,' we decided that it was necessary to count with the support of a label to give greater international projection to our work. For this reason, and after assessing the options that we had, we think that WHD was the record label that is more suited to our needs.

"Their professionalism and interest in the band provides the security that their work will be thinking in seeking the best for Barbarian Prophecies. Also want to thank our agency 'Lost Penguin Conspiracy' by the management in the process from the first minute, always looking for the best for the band, and without which we had not reached this agreement." Nekrogoblikon Announces "Power" Release

Nekrogoblikon is set to unleash “Power” on August 27th, 2013. The band issued the following press release:

"What happens when you put a bunch of bloodthirsty music-loving goblins together? Well, a lot of disembowelment, but also a lot of catchy tunes. Formed six millennia ago, and practicing only every other leap year on a full moon, Nekrogoblikon has finally perfected their brand of crushing music. Arguably the first ever goblin metal band ever, NNekrogoblikon is pleased to announce the upcoming release of their brand new crusher of a record, Power, hitting stores on August 27, 2013. Power is produced by Nekrogoblikon, and is mixed by Matt Hyde (Deftones, Children of Bodom).

"For a taste of what Nekrogoblikon is about, check out their recently released music video for the track ‘No One Survives’ (featuring Jon Lajoie of Comedy Central’s 'The League' and adult entertainment star Kayden Kross), which went viral shortly after posting and already has 2 MILLION+ views. The video is directed by Brandon Dermer, who has since shot a Major Lazer video, as well as the new Wavves video. Dermer had the chance to catch Nekrogoblikon performing in front of a small crowd of people at The Cobalt in Canoga Park, CA, immediately fell in love with the band, the rest is history. The video for ‘No One Survives’ ended up pulling in 1 million+ views in its first week of release." More...

Exhumed Streaming New Song

Today Loudwire is bringing the latest tones of torment from West Coast death grind deviants, Exhumed.

Titled "Sickened," the track is featured on the band’s impending "Necrocracy" full-length. Check out "Sickened" at this location.

Notes Matt Harvey of the tune: “‘Sickened’ is probably our bassist Bodybag Babcock's favorite tune on the record, and may be the thrashiest tune we came up with for the record. It's fast, nasty and while hashing it out in the rehearsal room, we referred to the bridge section as the ‘Bay Area pit starter riff,’ which quickly endeared us to the song.

"We're definitely planning on including this in our live set when we head out with Dying Fetus this Fall, so get your puffy white hi-tops ready to run in a circle at the appropriate moments. Lyrically, this is a nasty little tale with a slight historical twist -- it's basically about getting the bubonic plague, and not just twisted gory fate it brings, but the despair and isolation the disease brought, as our putrid protagonist's contagious condition causes him to be shunned by family and friends. So it's a real upper. Anyway, turn it up, pound a beer, find a friend, and then hit them.”

The full album's track listing is:

1. Coins Upon The Eyes (streaming here)
2. Dysmorphic
3. (So Passes) The Glory Of Death
4. The Rotting
5. The Shape Of Deaths To Come
6. Necrocracy
7. Sickened
8. Ravening
9. Carrion Call
10. The Rotting

Transient Posts New Song Online

As the bulldozing self-titled debut LP from Portland grindcore unit Transient nears release late this Summer, today the first rabid track from the album is being leaked.

“False Philanthropy” may be the longest track on the album, but the anthem simply wastes no time in laying down exactly what kind of direct and devastating code this quartet lives by. Hear "False Philanthropy" courtesy of Cvlt Nation in the player below. The following press release was also issued about the band:

"Transient will now be listed among the ranks of the Six Weeks Records roster among Plutocracy, Capitali$t Casualties, Magrudergrind, Voetsek, Catheter and endless others, as the label releases Transient on September 10th, as the label is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

"The band is comprised of members of other current acts Shitty Weekend, Murmurs, Black Hole Of Calcutta and others including founding vocalist Krysta Martinez who also now fills the vocal position for Arizona crew Landmine Marathon. Recorded at Soundhouse Studio with Brandon Fitzsimons (Wormwood), the terminal Transient is a penetrating, caustic, earthmoving grind/punk attack, carrying out sixteen acts of audio attrition in just over twenty minutes.

"Over the coming weeks Transient will take to the streets in support of the album. They’ve already been confirmed to play at Deadfest 2013 in Oakland, California August 16th and 17th alongside DropDead, Brainoil, Graves At Sea, Noothgrush, ACxDC, Primitive Man and dozens more. They’ll also join a plethora of fellow Six Weeks artists including Magrudergrind, Coke Bust, P.L.F., Slight Slappers, Capitali$t Casualties and others taking part in the label’s 20th anniversary shows coming up in November, with final details to be announced shortly, among other waves of Transient shows and tour dates." Varg Vikernes Released, No Charges Filed

After being arrested in France earlier this week for suspicion of planning a massacre when his wife purchased several rifles, Varg Vikernes of Burzum has now been released and no charges have been filed.

The website Nrk.no reports (translated from Norwegian):

"The French prosecutor confirms to NRK.no that Varg Vikernes was released at 19:00 Thursday night.

"Police were unable to identify specific terrorist plans or terrorist target and Vikernes would not be prosecuted for this. On Tuesday morning, he was arrested at his home with his wife on suspicion of planning terrorist acts."

However, Vikernes will apparently still have to appear court in a few weeks for a breach of racism laws in France. Further details will be announced as they are made available.

Vikernes served 21 years in prison for the murder of Mayhem's Euronymous, as well as receiving convictions for burning four churches. He moved to France with his wife and children following his release in 2009.

Ulcerate Posts In-Studio Footage

Following the recent unveiling of the details on Ulcerate’s impending fourth LP "Vermis," today Relapse has leaked an in-studio video of the Auckland, New Zealand tribe crafting the mammoth album at hometown MCA Studios earlier this year. Check it out below. The following press release was also issued about the band:

"The combined demolishing power and technical prowess of the music the trio creates is truly jaw-dropping on every one of the band’s releases to date, and watching them hone and construct these anguished hymns piece-by-piece is enthralling for any extreme music musician or Ulcerate devotee.

"Album-to-album, Ulcerate continually expands their attack by melding mechanical elements with organic flow patterns, and integrating more sonically demoralizing elements into their haunting explosiveness. The band’s forward-thinking death metal style is born where Hate Eternal, Gorguts and Immolation collides into the blackened anguish of Deathspell Omega or Portal -- traits which become more apparent than ever on their Relapse debut Vermis. The nine passages harnessed on their fourth full-length play out into a nearly hour-long document of their most tumultuous craftsmanship yet. Vermis will see release September 17th in North America, preceded by September 13th in Germany and Benelux, and September 16th in the UK and rest of the world."

Additional propaganda, hymns, and more on "Vermis" will be announced in the coming weeks in addition to new Ulcerate tour actions for 2013. More...

Vulture Industries Announces "The Tower" Details

Avant-garde metallers Vulture Industries have named their forthcoming third album "The Tower," due out Season of Mist on September 27th (October 1st in North America). The track listing is as follows:

1. The Tower
2. Divine - Appalling
3. The Hound
4. Blood On The Trail
5. The Dead Won't Mind
6. A Knife Between Us
7. The Pulse of Bliss
8. Sleepwalkers
9. Lost Among Liars

The artwork was designed by Costin Chioreanu, who made the following comment: ”Working on the cover of the new Vulture Industries was more than an interesting experience. The stars aligned and suddenly I discovered the opportunity to create an imagery I had been dreaming about for years. ‘The Tower’ is a very complex, smart and sadly true story to which I could relate, so this great project ended up with more illustrations than originally intended. The theme was so complex and so well put into words and music that I simply could not resist it. Yes, there is a huge influence coming from the German expressionism, but expanded through my own ways of visual expression and improved with some elements specific to the visual and philosophical analysis of society.

"There is surrealism, expressionism, contemporary imagery, and even some ancient graphic visual inputs. All in all, ‘The Tower’ is a beautiful piece of art and I am extremely happy that I had the honor to illustrate it. It might sound "too much", but I think that, in many aspects, ‘The Tower’ is an extremely well done observation of the reality that surrounds us." More...

Revenge Signs With Season Of Mist

Season of Mist is proud to announce the signing of Canadian black metal chaos extremists Revenge for the release of the band’s forthcoming fifth album, to be recorded in 2014. The label comments:

"During the group's 13 year history, Revenge has become one of the most prevalent bands in the Canadian black metal underground. Utilizing militant imagery, a strong ideology, and an extremely confrontational live show, the band has built a large die hard following worldwide amongst the fringe elements of the Black Metal, Death Metal, and Noise scenes.

"Revenge has been called 'incomprehensible non musical chaos' by some and 'total genius' by others. These polarizing views about Revenge have been a constant theme during most of the band’s existence and it doesn't look like things will change any time soon.

"The band refuses to betray their original intent and continues to maintain a lone wolf doctrine, existing strictly on their own terms as they have from day one. Revenge forges ahead with full force, looking down with disdain on all who question their approach of total hatred towards the swine known as mankind."

Not known for long winded statements, announcements, or explanations, Revenge main man J. Read's only comment when asked about the band’s new partnership with Season of Mist was, “The line has been drawn. Choose your side."

"Recorded at Necromorbus Studios in Stockholm and to be released on September 20th, 2013, as a limited slipcase digi-CD, standard jewelcase CD and limited gatefold-LP, 'Darkness Unbound' is clearly our most sinister, vicious and dark work up until to date.

"We are confident that 'Darkness Unbound' will be an important milestone not only for us as a band but also an album that will have a certain impact on the current death metal scene and especially the Swedish old-school wave.

"The artwork and visual concept of the album follows the same somber path as the music making it a solid entity of perpetual death metal darkness."

Evil Invaders Signs With Napalm Records

Belgian speed metal act Evil Invaders have signed on with Austrian lable Napalm Records. The band self-issued a self-titled EP back in February, which caught the eye of the label, drawing influences from early Iron Maiden and Helloween. The band is scheduled to perform at the Wacken Festival, having won the "Wacken Metal Battle for Belgium" contest.

The band commented on the signing: "Evil Invaders has been on the road for only a couple of years now, but from day one we’ve always felt the urge to go faster and faster. And so we did... In order to higher up the pace we definitely needed some more gear and we believe to have found the extra horsepower we needed. That’s why we’re very excited to announce that we’ll be having a new label to expand our invasion, and of course, to go even faster! We are very proud to announce that we’ll be driving along with Napalm Records, that will be releasing our first full length. At the same time we’d like to say cheers to Tony from Empire Records for his total support with our first releases. He did, and is still doing a great job! However we feel that with Napalm we’ll be having a huge-ass pile of gunpowder, and we’re sure that they have the right guns to fire our first full length, which will be coming towards you in 2014. We’re currently working hard on the new material, and we can assure you: it will be fast, loud and it will cut off your balls!"

My reaction to yesterday's arrest of Burzum's sole member Varg Vikernes wasn't shock, it was laughter. The guy was convicted of manslaughter and arson and the French were dumb enough to not only let him into their country on a farm far away from prying eyes but also purchase a number of firearms that he even photographed himself with. This along with his self-imposed isolation was probably going to bring him to his breaking point.

After the British were involved in a scandal where it took them years to finally deport two radical clerics with ties to Al Queda, why would the French bother with somebody who's even more obviously a security risk? Even if the authorities were jumping the gun and there was no terror plot, Varg has to take some responsibility for his reputation. I mean, really, does this photograph look innocent to you? More...
