Ektro Records is proud to announce the release date for Ranger's "Knights of Darkness" debut MLP, which shall be unleashed internationally on September 6th, 2013. The following press release was issued about the album:
"A four-piece heavy metal unit, Ranger shifts into overdrive with Knights of Darkness, the young Finns' first official release after three cult demos. Prepare to be mangled, thrashed, and shocked when you drop the needle on this brute. Ranger' debut MLP is the real-deal pounding metal you haven't heard in ages. This music is based on the very essence that makes heavy metal music so powerful: a vocalist that sounds like a banshee on the attack, double-lead guitars that send shivers down your spine, and drums hammering like a freight train on the loose.
"Ranger will split your skulls, one by one, with their intense energy and power that can be heard in every single second of this release! For reference, think old Slayer, Running Wild, and Tyrant (US) in a car crash on the way to Hell, but 666% Ranger: the Knights of Darkness are on the march, and there's no escape!"
The track listing is as follows:
2. Touch Of Death
3. Steel Dawn
4. Supreme Evil
5. Knights Of Darkness More...
Today splatterthrash death hooligans Ghoul hurl forth “Proud to be Creepsylvanian.” Originally released as “Proud to Be Canadian” by the The Dayglo Abortions, the tune comes off Ghoul’s forthcoming "Intermediate Level Hard-Core: covers EP. Check out the track below, courtesy of Cvltnation.com.
Comments guitarist/vocalist Digestor of the rendition: “We covered this song by the legendary Dayglo Abortions because we feel a kinship with the people of Canada, even though there are clearly differences between the two great countries. For instance, one is a hellish, barren, nightmare-scape devoid of happiness and fun, and drenched in the tears of a subjugated populace, and the other is called Creepsylvania. Though I have heard that Vancouver is nice."
"Intermediate Level Hard-Core" is available now digitally and on vinyl via Tankcrimes Records and delivers five tracks of gristly hardcore/punk worship with Ghoulified versions of tunes from Dayglo Abortions as well as Fearless Iranians From Hell, Willful Neglect, N.O.T.A, and Gwar. You can also catch Ghoul live:
7/27/2013 Jerry’s Pizza - Bakersfield, CA

Metal Blade welcomes Danish thrashers Artillery to the label's arsenal. Metal Blade issued the following statement:
"Denmark's Artillery is one Europe's earliest thrash metal exports, and their contribution to the bourgeoning genre is difficult to ignore. The Danish quartet successfully managed to fuse an abrasive brutality with technicality and strong melodies, with the noteworthy guitar leads of the Stützer-brothers serving as highlights.
"Artillery was formed in the Copenhagen suburb of Taastrup, Denmark in 1982 by Michael and Morten Stützer. Since then, Artillery have gone thru numerous line-up changes and released six studio LPs. The first period of Artillery's existence gave the world the three classic albums Fear of Tomorrow, Terror Squad and By Inheritance, featuring some of the finest moments of thrash metal Europe has ever put out. "It's crazy to realize that we have been around for so long and the best way to prove that we're still going strong and have a lot to express through our music and rage is what we're putting together on the new songs written for the upcoming album, which is certainly going to be our most negative, dark and violent release to date."

"We started working on Horizon two years ago, and the concept came together fast. As a touring band, we are always staring into the horizon geared towards the next show. That’s what we are trying to convey with our next record. We spent an immense amount of time writing and doing pre-production to ensure we lived up to our own expectations and our fans. We believe this is the best representation of what Until Dawn is right now. We are extremely proud and excited to get this record to our fans, to make new ones and hit the road to play the new songs live.
"Our single 'This Fallen Fortress' started as a song about being from Fort McMurray and the struggles we face as a band secluded so far north. But quickly turn into being about gaining strength through out any obstacle you are faced with. We as a band believe you can find strength and perseverance in any situation, and turn it into a positive. Let this dawn awaken." More...

The weekend festivities of the second and third day of Tuska started a bit later for me, but still managed to start with a bang that resounded for the whole weekend! With a lineup a bit less intense then the first day, there was a lot of room to really observe performances and finally get that summer festival feeling. Both days featured very different genres, but as always with Tuska, there is truly something for everyone, even if that something is as simple as ice cold cider and a cool breeze on a hot day. The second season of Taiwan’s professional baseball league kicked off on July 5th, with Chthonic being invited by the team The Brother Elephants as guests of honor to throw the first pitch.
Thunderstorms that afternoon had delayed equipment preparation and the band was forced to perform its rendition of Queen’s “We Are the Champions” without any sort of soundcheck. Fortunately Chthonic, bedecked in specially designed uniforms, completed the mission with great success, as the rapturous crowd reaction so poignantly confirmed.
The Brother Elephants contacted Chthonic following the band’s performance at Download Festival in the UK this year. To maximize the effect of the metal and baseball combination, Chthonic was also invited to perform. The band brainstormed ideas and had initially planned on doing a version of “Take Me Out To The Ball Game,” but the many variations "sounded like children’s songs" according to a press release, thus Chthonic went with “We Are the Champions.” More...

As Nietzsche said, 'In music the passions enjoy themselves.' Come enjoy our passion with us."
Added Monolithic founder Tom Quigley, "Gyre play a unique style of proggy groove metal with great aplomb, blending the technical aggression of a younger, scrappier Gojira with the mature melodic flourishes of Leprous or Extol. They are a natural fit for the small, tight-knit family we have at Monolithic Records."

Cattle Decapitation will be releasing a 7" single this summer. "Your Disposal" features the B-side, "An Exposition of Insides," which was previously available only as a Japanese bonus track on the band's most recent album, "Monolith of Inhumanity."
Fans attending this year's The Summer Slaughter Tour can grab their copy at the band's merch booth throughout the tour. Vocalist Travis Ryan comments:
"We noticed a lot of people were dismayed to find out there was a track available out there on a Japanese version of 'Monolith of Inhumanity' that nobody outside of Japan had ever heard before. When it hit YouTube, that's when we started getting emails from fans. We noticed the lyrics weren't inside that version or available anywhere at all so that gave us the idea of throwing it on a b-side and releasing a 7" vinyl single for 'Your Disposal' with the song 'An Exposition of Insides!' We feel that Monolith is the mother of all of our releases so far and I thought it'd be funny to make it look like she just squirted out a baby and that's what this little guy looks like. Just in time for Summer Slaughter!" More...
