Chicago thrashers Trials have parted ways with guitarist Remy Walle. The band's new guitarist is Ryan Bruchert (Centaurus, ex-He Who Corrupts). The band commented as follows:
As far as the split with Remy, all we can say is that sometimes shit just doesn't work out. We wish him the best of luck with whatever he chooses to do. We'd like you to join us in welcoming Ryan Bruchert to the band. His music credentials include our more progressive brothers in Centaurus (who you should all check out), as well as now-departed grind legends He Who Corrupts. He's a decent human being and an excellent guitarist, and despite his aversion to eating meat, we like the guy. We're looking forward to him putting his stamp on the new album we've been recording, as well as our upcoming live shows this summer. You can get updated on all that stuff over at Facebook. See you there.
Trials is currently working on the follow up to its debut "Witness to the Downfall," which was released last year. The band has posted a series of studio journals chronicling the album's progress online at YouTube.

Every week we catch up with band members and metal fans to get their best stories from live shows. While the pit is usually where most of the action is, heading outside for a break can come with many dangers all on its own, as Kevin George from Martriden and At Home In Hell recently learned. Kevin shared the following tale of unexpectedly entering a fight while seeing a show with his girlfriend:
Katelynn and I were out at the Odyssey show, decided to go outside because Hooves (the opening band) were actually too loud, even for me. Next door, In This Moment were playing, so there were a lot of confused-with-life individuals hanging around outside.
We were standing there for the time being, trying to decide whether to go get earplugs or not, when we realized that 8 ft away from us was not just some overly excited girls...but one was just thoroughly giving the other a verbal lashing like no other. Some shit about "how dare you tell everyone I work on Sprague" came up...for the uninformed, she got called a hooker.
After about a minute of this belligerent retardfest, the angry one hits the other girl in the face pretty good-like. She then grumbles some other incomprehensible bullshit and cocks her fist back again. The other girl...the receiver, if you will...runs between Katelynn and I, tucks he head between us and cries the most feebly pussified "help me" that a little emo girl who couldn't get in to see In This Moment ever could. It was pretty pitiful, actually.More...

Frontman Tommy Victor spoke about touring with Static-X: "Static-X has been carrying the torch for no-nonsense, hard hitting music for many years and it's an honor to tour with them. They've put out great records again and again and I've witnessed their live show so many times and never been disappointed. It's going to be fun to see them every night tearing it up with those killer riffs, great beats and raucous hooks! Prong officially thanks Wayne and company for this opportunity!"
Wayne Static also commented about touring with Prong: "I'm very excited to have Prong join the tour. Over the years Prong has had a huge influence on many musicians, including myself, and I am honored to share the stage with them." More...

Florida's Sledgegrinder has issued the following announcement about splitting with the band's vocalist and bass player:
"Ok... So this is going to be very surprising to most of you and very devistating at the same time... Alex and Nathan have decided that they will not be moving foward with Sledgegrinder at this point... The reasons have nothing to do with conficts or issues between us but just personal reasons on their end regarding personal career goals and family matters.
"Nathan was our original bassist and Alex started the band as an original member as well so this is definetily a set back but they do want to express that they had a hell of a time all 3 1/2 years that they advanced with Sledgegrinder.
"Between the appreciation for our fans, the great times we had with them, the brutal music we wrote together, and the brotherhood that we had (and still do), moving foward without them will not be easy but we will rebuild and make the right decisions on keeping Sledgegrinder alive!!
"These guys will be missed deeply but it's the right move for them to be happy and enjoy the project that they have also put alot of work into, Proletariat Combat Machine. Please continue to support them because they know this will be upseting news but NATE AND ALEX STILL LOVE ALL OF OUR SELDGEGRINDER BROTHERZ AND SISTERZ! BEST OF LUCK FELLA'S!!
"We will be seeking replacements so start getting the word out and help keep this band stay alive moving forward! We need our fans now more than ever!"
Metal Blade Records has issued the following announcement about inking a deal with Satan's Wrath:
"Formed in 2011 by multi-instrumentalist Tas Danazoglou (vocals, drums & bass) & Stamos K (guitars), Satan's Wrath deal in a style of heavy metal music which harks back to the times when the death, black and thrash genres were all considered one in the same, and only leather, spikes and bullets were real!
"The band's debut release Galloping Blasphemy contains nine tracks of unholy terror and is to be released on September 25th, 2012 in North America, and September 21st/24th in Europe."
Tas Danazoglou comments on the deal with Metal Blade: "I bought 'Show No Mercy' by Slayer when it was first released and have dreamt of the day when my own unholy necro-noise would be unleashed upon the earth via the same channels. Literally, this is my nightmare come true."
Brian Slagel of Metal Blade Records, who celebrate their 30 year anniversary this year, comments: "When I first heard Satan's Wrath it transported me back three decades to the early days of the label when I loved bands like Slayer (who released their first 3 titles between 1983 & 1985 on Metal Blade) and Possessed (whose first commercial release was the track "Swing of the Axe" which opened the Metal Blade compilation 'Metal Massacre XI' in 1985). What will always impress me about the heavy metal genre is its ability to borrow from the past and boldly wear it's influences on its sleeve, while still sounding fresh and relevant to the time it was created. Satan's Wrath are one of those bands, and will be right at home alongside the other acts on the Metal Blade roster - past, present and future."

On Sybreed's new artwork I tried to decode-externalize The Architect of the Blackest light, an Automated God, an Ironic Priest which is fighting between two different levels of reality. An Ironic Synthesis combination of modern Classicism. It was a great challenge and pleasure trying to visualize their new masterpiece." More...
After previously explaining the song "Muramasa," Periphery has now posted the track "Have a Blast" online along with the following breakdown of the song:
"This song was something that I had been sitting on for a while before even demoing it. I had been jamming on the riffs for a while, but sometimes I get worried when I track something for the first time because if the ideas don't inspire enough other riffs/ideas, then the song usually ends up being an incomplete demo that kinda just sits there for a while. I was going for something playful and fun with the riffs i wrote, and it seemed to be developing a very 'video-gamey' sound which I am a fan of, so I ran with that kind of feel for the riffs. I was really happy with the 2 or so minutes that I demoed, but I had no idea where the song should go next, and as a result the song sat there for a little while.
"When we were writing/demoing songs to rework for the album, this one came up, and I invited Jake and Mark to come over to help me work on it and complete it. Mark wrote some riffs which really jumpstarted the song back to life, and we spent some time on the arrangement making sure it would be just right. Thanks to Jan at our management, we managed to get the legendary Guthrie Govan to agree to a guest solo, and the section near the end of the song seemed perfect for his style. When I heard his solo for the first time over the song, I was so giddy, I couldn't wipe the smile off of my face!
"All in all, this track ended up being one of my personal favorites from the album, and we decided that with it's quirky violin intro, it could be a really different way to officially start off the album, because we considered Muramasa to really be more of an intro to ramp things up rather than the first actual song." Angels of Babylon, founded by former Manowar drummer Kenny "rhino" Earl, has signed on with Scarlet Records for the band's sophomore release. The as of yet untitled album is described as "a collection of epic, melodic and heavy songs that will inspire and arouse the imagination, a timeless piece of work that any real heavy metal fan will treasure for many years to come."
In 2010, Angels of Babylon released the debut album "Kingdom of Evil," which featured Megadeth bassist Dave Ellefson and Forgotten Realm vocalist David Fefolt.
More information on the release is expected soon.
