After spending the last few years as a successful producer in Los Angeles, former ANTHRAX/ZAKK WYLDE/WHITE LION drummer Greg D'Angelo (or "GD3", as he's now known) has joined ANTIPRODUCT as permanent replacement for ailing drummer Simon the Gonk.
ANTIPRODUCT are continuing work on recordings at Albert Studios (AC/DC, BREED 77) with famed producer Ray McVeigh (PERRY FARRELL, THE PROFESSIONALS, DANZIG) for a late summer release. "This is the first time we've ever been able to spend time recording in a real studio rather than counting change and breaking piggy banks to finish tracking!" states singer A. Product. "It sounds unlike anything we've ever done."
According to the web site of the B.B. King's Blues Club in New York City, British heavy metal legends SAXON are scheduled to perform at the venue on Tuesday November 1, 2005. Two days later, on Thursday November 3, 2005, SAXON are scheduled to play the Jaxx nightclub in West Springfield, Virginia. Support at the Jaxx show will come from long-running American metallers BLACK WIDOW.
SAXON were originally slated to embark on a U.S. tour in May but ended up cancelling the dates as a result of frontman Biff Byford wanting to stay by his family's side after suffering a major loss in February when his house in the Normandie area of France burned down. In that incident, Biff, his wife and their children got out of the house at the very last minute and nobody was hurt.
Australia's I Killed The Prom Queen will head to Sweden in August and September to record a new album. Tracking will take place at Studio Fredman in Gotenborg, Sweden with producer Fredrik Nordstrom (At The Gates). According to vocalist Michael Crafter, "We are really excited to be going to Sweden... Fredrik has done some amazing stuff from At The Gates, Soilwork, In Flames and tons of great metal bands." The album is expected hit streets this winter via an undisclosed label.
South Carolina's Through The Eyes Of The Dead, who signed with Prosthetic Records two months ago, are now looking for a new drummer and bassist. The group recently lost the services of Dayton Cantley (drums) and Jeff Springs (bass) due to "personal reasons." Both candidates must own professional equipment and be willing to tour consistently. Send an email to email@example.com for more information.
Livermore, CA band House Of Atreus has officially signed with Undecided Records. Formerly known as Primal Scream Therapy, the group is described in this manner: "drawing from a broad range of influences from death metal to rock, House Of Atreus create a unique sound that skirts fitting within the 'metalcore' sound." The band's debut full-length will be available in early-2006. However, in the meantime you can check out some of their material here.
Green Carnation, the Norwegian band featuring Tchort (a.k.a. Terje Vik Schei; Blood Red Throne, ex-Emperor, Satyricon, Einherjer), are currently at Brown Sound Studios working on their first acoustic album, tentatively titled "The Acoustic Verses." The CD will celebrate the band's 15th anniversary and will be released as a limited two-disc edition, featuring lots of exclusive material from the history of the band and its members. The album will be issued later in the year through Sublife Productions, the new label of Tchort and Kjetil Nordhus. Sublife Productions will also work as the management and booking company for Green Carnation, Blood Red Throne and Carpathian Forest. Other releases through Sublife Productions will see the light of day next year.
Tchort had the following to say about Sublife Productions:
In addition of the acoustic album featuring only new songs written for the album exclusively and cover songs, We have some releases lined up for next year, that makes us really excited about the whole Sublife thing. Some of these releases will blow people away and set new standards in music, but we also have some very interesting historical documentary coming up on DVD, that we hope to land a deal on.
Regarding the search for a new record deal, Tchort said, "Some of the key terms in a new contract will be tour support, a studio budget that will allow us to make the best out of the album and distribution."

Chart Attack reports:
"It's the perfect time to be Gwar," says vocalist Oderous Urungus after giving this Chart hack a ritual chewing-out for being yet another stupid human. "We're leaner, we're meaner, we're heavier, we're just as fucked up and funny — the gore effects are WAY sicker."
Know what the scary part is? He's right. High on the success of their latest album War Party, Gwar are doing better than ever. They're finally receiving recognition for their efforts as entertainers and musicians, they're featured as the coveted "halftime entertainment" on this summer's Sounds Of The Underground Tour metal festival and, most importantly, they're actually writing good records again. Maybe they're going to stand the test of time.
"What the fuck did you expect?" challenges Urungus. "There are scary clown bands everywhere that seem to be dying out now and Gwar is as mighty as ever. We withstood the assault of the poseur clown bands and we're accepted as the sickest, most underground, coolest thing in rock 'n' roll today and it's because we're the voice of reason."

Dark Tranquillity has posted this message on their official website:
Those of you attending the Evolution festival in Italy on the 16th of July should note that we're onstage VERY early: 12:00-13:30. We were originally scheduled to play right before headliners Nightwish, but the fact that we're doing the Ilosaarirock festival in Finland the following day unfortunately means that moving the slot is the only solution (apart from cancelling one of the festivals, which naturally wasn't an option).
So - make sure to show up in time to make the first breakfast gig in D.T.'s history a special event!
Graspop and Fury fest last weekend went really well - thanks to all of you maniacs for the support!

Lenita Powers of the Reno Gazette-Journal has issued the following report:
Fifteen years ago, Reno became the focus of a high-profile lawsuit that charged the British heavy metal group JUDAS PRIEST with hiding subliminal messages in its music that led to the deaths of two fans.
As JUDAS PRIEST returns to perform tonight in Reno, those who took part in a courtroom drama that became the focus of international attention recalled the complex case that still generates calls from law students.
Other lawsuits at that time sought damages because of violent lyrics in music, but the JUDAS PRIEST case was one of the first to claim that subliminal messages hidden behind those lyrics caused the deaths of two young men.
"It was the first time there had been a judicial determination of whether subliminal messages were or were not protected speech under the First Amendment," former Washoe District Judge Jerry Whitehead said this week.
Whitehead, who heard the case after the lawyers agreed not to have the civil suit decided by a jury, ruled it was not. More...
