Swedish supergroup Bloodbath may not have dropped a proper album since back in 2008, but the masters of death have now unleashed the “Bloodbath Over Bloodstock” DVD to satisfy their fans craving for aural destruction.
Gutiarist Anders "Blakkheim" Nyström (also of Katatonia) took out some time to discuss the DVD and the future of Bloodbath with Metalunderground.com. In the full interview below, Anders talks about the direction of a possible fourth Bloodbath album, stating "...one thing we haven't touched upon at all is that real gritty sludgy low-fi death metal school pioneered by bands such as Autopsy. We wanna make a truly rotten and ugly album next time and keep things organic and as analogue as possible. Expect the next Bloodbath album to be the antithesis of a modern technical deathcore album."
During our discussion Anders went on to cover topics such as switching gears between drastically different bands, the difficulty of lining up Bloodbath tours with each member involved in different projects, and even briefly touched on Katatonia writing new material for an upcoming album. More...
Hackneyed has issued the following statement about the upcoming release of "Carnival Cadavre," the band's new album:
"After two years in-between rehearsal room, shows, being on tour and pre-production we finally managed to get our third album ready to launch. It's named 'Carnival Cadavre' and will be tested in human experiment at the Summer Breeze Festival in Dinkelsbühl on August 19th 2011 for the first time. Once again we produced our album with Corni Bartels at the Weltraum Studios and Björn Goosses (Killustrations) again purified our disc with a stunning artwork.
"We added another fine portion of groove and brutality for you and showed once again what Hackneyed is made of. With our new label Lifeforce Records we found the matching partner and we're really looking forward to our future cooperation. We're curious where our journey with the 'Carnival Cadavre' will lead us within the next weeks and months. And perhaps soon it's also close to you they say: The Circus' Back in town!"
"Carnival Cadavre" is set to be released on August 22nd in Europe (August 19th in Germany) and on August 30th in North America. The cover artwork is also available for viewing by heading over here.

Swedish act Katatonia has announced its return to North American shores this fall with fellow countrymen Opeth on a six week run, dubbed the “Heritage Tour,” which will conquer over 30 cities across the U.S. and Canada beginning in September.
Guitarist Anders Nyström issued the following statement in anticipation of this monumental combination of Swedish metal heavyweights:
"Both you and we know that North America damn well deserves to see more of Katatonia, right? So how could we possibly resist heading back to the states this fall when Opeth are giving us the opportunity to be their special guests? It was just a matter of time before it had to happen again. Yes we toured together in the same formation ten years ago in Europe, and not only was that tour very well received by both bands’ fans, but we also shared a great ride together as long time friends.
"Some people have even been calling this bill their ‘dream line-up’, so it's only fair that the loyal fans in North America now get their piece of the cake too! So come out and see us on this great tour and remember we're playing headlining sideshows as well! Looking forward! Cheers!"
Katatonia last toured North America in the fall of 2010, a headlining run on the “Night Over North America” tour, in support of the 2009 release "Night Is The New Day."

For the first time in their career Faroese pagan metallers Tyr have topped the CMJ Loud Rock radio charts for their brand-new album, "The Lay of Thrym." The longplayer had the previous week charted at #31, and now upon the week of its release shoots all the way up to #1.
Commenting on this achievement, frontman Heri Joensen says, "I almost fell off my cozy couch this morning when I got the message that our album was #1 on the CMJ Loud Rock radio charts - we had not even hoped for anything like this. We're thrilled to have been recieved this well by the radio stations across the US, and we're facinated so many people want to hear our songs.
"However, with this album, we deliberately tried to hit a broader audience, preferably outside the usual Folk/Pagan/Viking scene, and it looks like it has paid off. So even though we're surprised, it was sort of what we were aiming for; it just appears to have worked better than we anticipated. I'm almost tempted to say, 'Look, mom - I'm on top of the world!'"
You can also check out footage from the band's time in the studio recording the album by heading over here.
After previously posting the new song "Mørkefødt" online, black metal act Djevel has now uploaded another new track. You can listen to the recently posted song "Da Kvinnene Brant" by heading over to the official Djevel MySpace page at this location.

"Acts of the Unspeakable," the third album from death metal act Autopsy, is to be re-released on June 20th on yellow vinyl with a gatefold sleeve. The release is limited to 2000 numbered copies, and pre-order information is available at this location. A statement from the band's publicist about the album reads as follows:
"Californian gore metallers Autopsy burst onto the scene in 1988 with almost immediate infamy. Frontman Chris Reifert was already a well known force on the underground through his time as drummer with Florida's highly respected metal combo, Death. After playing drums on the band's debut album, the much acclaimed 'Scream Bloody Gore', Chris moved back west to the more open climate of San Francisco and together with Danny Coralles & Eric Cutler formed Autopsy. The partnership kicked off in April 1989 with their debut album 'Severed Survival', a brutal explosion of heavy riffs, tight drumming and a screaming vocal, rounded off with concepts of death, disease and diabolica. A successful European tour with label mates and rising stars 'Paradise Lost' saw the band solidify their ever-growing army of devotees.
"Their third album, the highly controversial 'Acts Of The Unspeakable' surfaced in Oct '92 to widespread delight and fury. The press and fans adored the album, with artwork & lyrics loosely mirroring concepts similar to Hieronymous Bosch. The authorities didn't quite see things in the same way as copies of the album & T-Shirts (based on album artwork) were seized the world over. This only added to the reputation of the band with 'Acts' being lauded as the definitive Autopsy album."
Onslaught, which recently canceled the band's Metalfest appearances, has now issued the following update about playing the Rock Hard festival:
"Onslaught are stoked to announce their appearance at this years 'Rock Hard Festival' at 'Live Music Club' via Mazzini 58, Trezzo s/Adda, Milan, Italy on Saturday 17th September.
"We're so looking forward to returning to Italy once again, its been almost 3 years since our last visit and the 'Rock Hard Festival' is gonna be a fantastic opportunity to unleash the Sounds of Violence on our Italian friends for the first time...
"Have a great summer guys / see you all in September."

Nokturnel has issued the following announcement about parting ways with the band's drummer:
"Tom Stevens has decided to part ways with drummer Duane Timlin. His replacement is Matt Franciss who currently also plays for Hank III's Assjack, and Cystic Dysentery (former Circle of Dead Children).
"Matt has agreed to step up to the challenge just in time to prepare for A Day of Death on July 16th in Williamsville, New York. Tom and Matt have been discussing Nokturnel's situation, and future for a while now, and they will be getting together for a week of rehearsals very soon.
"There are too many issues both personal and professional for me to have on my mind during an otherwise extremely positive moment in Nokturnel's history. I worked my ass off to bring this band back to the stage and just going through the motions is not going to cut it for me. I want to perform the songs in their true form with all the controlled chaos and enjoy myself at the same time. With all the stress and worry I dealt with during the week of MDF I felt it is best for the band to have a new drummer and preparing him for A Day of Death means I have to work even harder, spend more time away from home and spend more money to keep my independent band active. So be it! I have to do what I have to do and all the plans are made.
"I am excited to be working with Matt whose enthusiasm and confidence matches my own. Nokturnel fans deserve the best performances possible after the years of undying support and Matt, Billy and I are about to open a new chapter in Nokturnel's history book. We are extremely focused and excited to see everyone at A Day of Death in July."
The upcoming Nokturnel live dates are as follows:
July 16, Club Infinity "A Day of Death 2011" Williamsville NY.

To expand upon the recent "Never Dead" teaser released, Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. has announced that Megadeth is recording a customized soundtrack for the company’s forthcoming action-adventure franchise NeverDead. “Never Dead,” the official song sharing KONAMI’s video game title, will appear on Megadeth’s 13th album, which the band is currently recording.
“The members of Megadeth are speed-metal music pioneers with a world renowned reputation for producing song catalogs with original and progressive lyrics,” said Shinji Hirano, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. “The NeverDead soundtrack is an example of pure imagination and it fully captures the essence of our game. We’re proud to have such a distinctive band associated with our title.”
Megadeth has sold over 25 million albums worldwide, with five consecutive albums being certified Platinum or multi-Platinum in the United States and have nine Grammy nominations under their belt.
“‘Never Dead’ was written specifically for the game, and the song’s lyrics and concept fit perfectly with its transcendental nature,” said Madelyn Scarpulla, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Creative Services for Roadrunner Records. “Megadeth and Roadrunner are both looking forward to the mutually beneficial marketing partnership we have established with KONAMI with the launch of NeverDead and Megadeth’s new album coming this fall.”
NeverDead, currently in production, is a third-person action game set in a futuristic world where humans are battling supernatural enemies across a dark post-apocalyptic metropolis. In the game, players will assume the role of a demonic hero agent named Bryce who, assisted by his female lead Arcadia, must undertake a series of missions to combat a demonic plague. NeverDead is expected to release later this year for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
New Wave Of British Heavy Metal veterans Tokyo Blade have announced that they will be performing a one off show in their native United Kingdom on September 30th, which will take place at the historic Standard music venue in Walthamstow. Tickets will cost £10 each. The venue was a favourite of the band during it's early days and will be closing in December, after facing a series of economic problems.
Speaking on the venue, Tokyo Blade guitarist John Wiggins stated: "It's a great little venue, always was. We had many a wild night on that stage I can tell you, they were always a brilliant crowd to play for. Real shame it's closing but maybe we can take the roof off it for them! It'll be quite strange because we play Wacken in August which is sold out, 80,000 people and then we've got to get the whole show into the Standard. It'll be a privilege to play there again though and I bet they almost make as much noise as Wacken too!"

"A big thrashing hail goes out to our new brothers and friends, Krisiun, death metal extraordinaire from Brazil, whom we had the honor and pleasure of meeting in person at the Metalfests and drinking together! Besides the grandeur of the band, these guys are also amazing men so be sure to show up at their shows if they're playing in your town and enjoy this war machine on stage!
"Furthermore, to Hati from Equilibrium and Chris (Korean Guy), the band's light engineer, who proved to be worthy comrades to the Metalfests' aftershow parties! Fortunately (or not), whatever happens backstage, stays backstage… So no more on that... More...

Although the two bands had scheduled a few dates in North America together, with more expected to be announced, all female heavy metal legends Girlschool have announced that they have been forced to pull out of their proposed tour supporting fellow New Wave Of British Heavy Metal favourites, Diamond Head. A statement from the group's management reads as follows:
"The main reason for that is the fact that the main sponsor wanted to wait for the album to be released in the US before the band went over to tour.
"This was for the company extremely important and also for us the only possible way to bring the band to the US and join Diamond head on their tour.
"For that reason, the financial situation has become absolutely impossible to work with forcing us to cancel the entire tour. As soon as we have a definite release date for Hit And Run revisited in the US we will be back!"
