This definitely goes down as being one of the most interesting and unique heavy shows that Vancouver has seen in quite a long time. The venue for this event was not your typical metal venue. It was barely a venue at all. The Shark Club, as its known, turns out to be a trendy upscale version of a sports bar. Complete with soft plush booths for dining, cute but high maintenance waitresses running around in every possible direction, a DJ that seems to only own European techno records and last but not least a bathroom complete with interactive video screens plugging products while you wait. A metal show was taking place here? Really? Everything seemed a bit odd and out of place, the setting just didn't seem right for a heavy label’s showcase. Especially compared to the usual dingy clubs that metal shows take place within this city. But this is where Thorny Bleeder Records chose to hold their talent showcase so there is nothing that can be done, or said. More...

We made sure to include the lyrics and cover art for each album, rare promo and live shots from each era, and a bonus DVD with most our official videos. Italian black metal act Streben has issued the following update an unauthorized album release:
"Howdy everyone! For those who are interested, I have to inform you that a label called 'Satanica' has apparently put out an unauthorized (and badly reprinted) reissue of Streben's Wild Enchanted Gardens. According to them, the album has been released through their label in early June, 2010, and it is listed as an official release by them on both website and MySpace page of the label.
"It is important to make clear that none of us ever signed a deal with this 'label,' and the one and only label that W.E.G. was ever released to is Naturmacht Productions. So there: don't buy it from Satanica (I won't go as far as to say no one should purchase it in general, but so there, ah ah ah... )"
You can also check out the track "Aestethic Faintness," which is off the "Wild Enchanted Gardnes" album, through the Streben MySpace page.
Guitarist Sami Vauhkonen of female fronted act Lullacry has checked in with the following statement about the band's activity:
"It's been a while since the last update from the Lullacry camp. After a hard and complicated fourth album we took some time off. In 2008 we were ready to record some new material, with a new interesting record deal with quite a big german label. Hiili Hiilesmaa (HIM, Moonspell, Apocalyptica etc.) was going to be the producer for that album.
"But then suddenly just before the studio, without any warning we lost the connection to the label. After a couple of months I read from the newspapers that they went bankrupt. Fuck that. Now when I look back, I can say that it was a blessing in disguise. Compared to the new songs, the older material was not as good. It wasn't the right time I guess.
"Now it's a fresh new start. I've written some killer songs and I must say that a new era of Lullacry has begun! We are currently recording a couple of those songs and we'll put them online as soon as possible. Stay tuned and rock with Lullacry! Any labels interested in Lullacry, please email Sami (at) lullacry.com We'll play live at Dante's Highlight, Helsinki, on sat 24.7.2010. Come and check out the new songs!"

Olympia, Washington based heavy metal act Christian Mistress has signed to 20 Buck Spin to release the album "Agony & Opium" later this August. 20 Buck Spin issued the following statement about the album:
"Bering six infectious, long-burning, classic heavy metal ragers sure to stand out against the label's mainly black/death/doom/sludge-dominated roster. The shredding dual guitar lead trade-offs, performed with the utmost class, never lose sight of memorable songcraft first and foremost. Anchored by a tight, driving rhythm section and the raw and throaty instantly memorable vocal delivery of Christine Davis, the Christian Mistress sound is immediately familiar and yet sounds like no other heavy metal band currently working, comparable to acts like Angel Witch, Warlock, Metallica, Mercyful Fate, Diamond Head and more."
Guitarist/vocalist Joey Eppard has issued the following update on the progress for 3's new, and sixth, studio album:
"We just wrapped up our first week at Applehead Studios. It's been a personal dream of mine to record in the room my father designed and built. It's almost like having him play on the record. The drum sounds CJB dialed in were fantastic and the Gartdrumm was in full effect. This record is going to be something very special. Our live performances are going to be rare this summer because most of our energy will be going into the making of our new record, but we do have a few very special shows coming up.
"June 11th will see '3' perform at the Basement's 3 year anniversary show. Later this summer we'll be debuting new material at our August 28th Bearsville performance where we'll be joined by Josh Eppard's new band: 'Terrible Things.' Of course I'll also be doing a few solo gigs to keep me sharp."
