Seminal black metal act Nazxul has set a release date of September 27, 2009 for their new album, "Iconoclast," along with more details surrounding the release. The album marks both the final recordings and first release since long time guitarist Greg Morelli passed away in a traffic accident in Novemeber 2008. The band’s press release follows:
“Fools rush to the feet of statues to pray- they have much to lose.
“We bring new messages and crush all icons with our voice and deeds- we have much to gain”.
“Nazxul’s rise and raison d’etre has borne a singular vision for the brutal reality of this life. The underground will never rise, but it will swallow up the true villains that lurk above. They tumble to the ground and scurry away. We are kings of the slum, and lords of hell.
“'Iconoclast' CD Album, is a torrent of angular and unfamiliar visions that stirs the dark soul to emancipation and inspiration; and provides torment to the pitiful remainder.
“10 years in formulation, the majestic array has returned, stronger. Bleak and furious! More...

You may have read a few days ago that the Idaho Blackenedfest show was canceled without reason. It appears as though the whole tour was canceled. Cephalic Carnage released the following statement:
"So, unfortunately, we were reluctantly forced to stay in Denver as the Blackenedfest Tour was unable to continue. We sincerely apologize to the friends and fans who've been waiting a while to see us and this tour. We want to thank Thunderdome for having us out, as we had an absolutely amazing time with Withered, Cattle Decapitation, all the crew and of course Mayham. We promise to make up the dates we didn't get to play...we ALMOST had the $70 dollar-a-shirt-cool-guy-tight-shirt company Affliction ready to pay for us to be helicoptered to the each of the rest of the tour dates, but they pulled the deal after they found out we stopped shaving our legs which was the part of the contract we decided we couldn't go through with, (except John). Anyways we've got some serious time off now, and we're going to commence with getting our long awaited reality-tv DVD completed, getting on with writing the next full length, and writing the 2nd installment of H.O.A., as well as finishing construction of our late night poutine stand, where we will serve country-fried giraffe eggs and your favorite French-Canadian specialty. We've been talking to bands to get their best pit stories. This week's story comes to us from Trigger The Bloodshed guitarist, Rob Pernell
"We recently played Hammerfest in the UK and because our UK label also had a stage we played two sets, one on the main stage and one on the Rising Records stage. Both shows were fucking crazy with some real brutal pits and each time we saw a few people leaving the pits in a bad way! But there was this one dude who came up to us after our second show, with a stitched up nose and a shirt covered in blood as he had managed to break his nose during our set. So he get us to sign his bloodied shirt and when we thought we were done signing, he whipped out another equally as bloodied shirt which was the product of his first broken nose from the day before again during our set! 1 Festival, 1 band, 2 sets, 2 fractures!"
Next week's story will be from Matthew Zadkovich, guitarist for Starring Janet Leigh, and how he almost had his eye plucked out.

Opeth front man Mikael Akerfeldt has issued the following recap after their recent tour alongside Enslaved:
"A few days ago I was standing by the swings in the park with my 2 daughters. They're in the swings, crying with laughter and I'm pushing them higher and higher. Apart from the noise they're making it's dead quiet. No one's here but us, there's virtually no cars and the wind is just a still breeze. 2 days before I'd played a wild show in Germany, I'd had a few beers (Coronas of course) afterwards, some drags on a Marlboro light, and we'd terrorized the support act and the local crew with a $20 fart machine that Fred and Mendez had bought in a sketchy store somewhere in the US. I was the centre of attention and now I'm by the swings with my kids and no one gives a fuck about me. Lovely! More...

Deathwish Inc. Band, Reign Supreme announced yesterday that there is a pre-order available for their upcoming release "Testing The Limits of Infinite," which is scheduled to release June 23rd. Deathwish Inc states,
"'Testing The Limits Of Infinite' is Reign Supreme's highly anticipated debut full length album. Produced by Will Putney at The Machine Shop (Lamb Of God, VOD, Every Time I Die), "Testing The Limits..." takes the accessible metallic hardcore foundation popularized by many, and injects a fresh warm blood deep within it. The result is a new breed of anthemic metallic hardcore; immaculately executed, intensely heavy, and refreshingly unpredictable. Songs like "Persevere And Overcome" and "Slipping Away" smash through expectations with earth moving power, while the introspective instrumental "Waiting" as well as the winding "To Live And Die (In Vain)" show a sonic diversity rarely found in heavy music. Proving that Reign Supreme are a true anomaly in today's music world, playing the role of both the hammer and the nail."
