Brazilian metal band Livin Garden has released the lyric video for the song "Pain," the last track from its debut album "Where Can I Breathe" released in 2011 via Digmetalworld Records. Currently Livin Garden is writing its second album, which will feature its original lead guitar player Daniel Doria who recently rejoined the band.
Iconic actor Christopher Lee (known for his roles in such films as Dracula, The Man With The Golden Gun, Lord of the Rings, The Wicker Man and the Star Wars prequels,) has announced that at the age of 90, he will release his second metal album, "The Omens Of Death," under the Charlemagne moniker he used two years ago for his first metal album, "Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross." Lee claims that this second album will see him move into "full on" heavy metal, with music arranged by Judas Priest guitarist Richie Faulkner. You can listen to two new songs, "Let Legend Mark Me as the King" and "The Ultimate Sacrifice," by heading to Amazon.com, where you may also purchase the music. A lengthy video in which Christopher Lee describes the music, as well as his storied acting career, can be seen below. The album does not yet have a release date, but it is expected to be released sometime later this year. More...
Guitarist John Cruppe of Fallen Angel has posted the following statement online about his recent health issues and the current status of the band:
"This is an open letter to all fans, friends, and family members to the New York based heavy metal band Fallen Angel. I am entitling this letter 'THE DAY I FELL' or maybe even more appropriate, 'WHAT DID YOU GET FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY THIS YEAR?'
"My name is John Cruppe and I am the founder and co-lead guitarist of Fallen Angel, and I wanted to address everything going on in our circle currently. There are a lot of rumors floating about and I wanted to set the record straight now that I can. So let me start by asking a simple question. What did you get for your Birthday this year? Was it something great and did everyone you wanted to remember it remember your day, or were you forgotten in the shuffle and disappointed? Either way let me just say that I would trade with any of you in a flash if given the opportunity.
"My Birthday is May 2nd and within ten days of it I was told I had been diagnosed with a cystic tumor on my brain stem that needed to be surgically removed immediately. They said there was nothing I could have done differently to avoid this and that they only saw a few of these over the course of a year on the norm. Prior to being properly diagnosed my primary physician and his partner [Meloni / Marino] advised me that my symptoms [numbing across entire left side of body, constant headaches and more] did not warrant an MRI even though I requested one, and in their infinite wisdom prescribed a series of B-12 shots and for me to take Aleve a couple times a day. This lasted for about six weeks prior to my official diagnosis, which ultimately led to my surgery on May 31st 2012.
"They wasted six weeks of valuable time as I suffered daily with these symptoms. They only started to take me seriously after I admitted myself into Emergency due to my symptoms becoming even more severe. Sounds like a pretty pathetic turn of events if you ask me. Soon after, my diagnosis became official, and the fear of dying or becoming paralyzed from the surgery sent me into a whirlpool of emotion that was nearly impossible to cope with as you might suspect if you were in my shoes. I was shuffled through Neurologists and Neurosurgeons until finally I was paired up with Dr. Walter at Strong Hospital. In my opinion this man is a genius with picture perfect bedside manner. More...

As high school prom-goers meandered around taking photos in their overly-bright gowns near the picturesque buildings of downtown Hammond, Louisiana, groups of men in black clothing with horrific band logos and album covers smoked cigarettes outside Augustine’s Bar as blasting metal pouring out of the door, frightening the youngsters and keeping them from this side of the street. In the setting orange sun, the music began. More...

Earlier this week American Dog gave fans a taste of their new album, and now they have released a Rob Kern directed video for the debut single "Just Like Charlie Sheen." The track appears on American Dog's sixth studio album, "Poison Smile," due for release on June 8th via Colonial Canine in North America and Bad Reputation in Europe.
It was just over a year ago when Charlie Sheen took over the news claiming "tiger blood and Adonis DNA." Sheen ranted to anyone who would listen while sitting in smoked filled rooms figuring out how to get the movie Major League 3 made. Along with his two porn star girlfriends (Charlie has since been inducted into The Wilt Chamberlin Hall of Fame – Gene Simmons is the only other member) Sheen went on tour and somehow got a new television deal. Should Sheen be looking for a soundtrack to his life (or Major League 3) he may want to give American Dog a ring.
The video shows the band members dressed as Charlie’s characters from Platoon, Major League, and Two and Half Men. There is also a "girl" in heavy red lipstick that is both disturbing and VERY HIGH on the comedy scale. The song is typical American Dog, very course and very high energy blues. This band is big with the biker crowd which makes sense given Charlie Sheen seems like he may be appreciated in this group as well. It would have been nice to see a "Bud Fox" character and maybe a reference to Blue Star airlines would have been nice. Still, this video is entertaining and the song will play well at the Hamburg Harley Days Event in Germany and the Rock and Blues Custom Show in England.
Anathema has issued the following announcement about adding on more tour dates, including shows supporting Sweden's Opeth:

"This tour also includes three very special unplugged shows including London's Union Chapel. Tickets for the new tour dates and Opeth shows are on sale from 15th June."

The Contortionist will also be featured on a handful of dates in this year's Summer Slaughter tour. The band will release new record "Intrinsic" on July 17th, 2012 via eOne/Good Fight Music.
"On 'Intrinsic', we've found ourselves focusing on the songwriting as well as the new textures and melody we're striving for. Each song has its own identity and flow, but the album is fun to listen through in order cause of the conceptual ties," says vocalist / keyboardist Jonathan Carpenter.
The upcoming tour dates from The Contortionist are as follows: More...
Danish modern metal act Mnemic will be releasing new album "Mnemesis" in North America on June 19th, 2012. The band has now posted a new song from the album online for streaming.
As was previously reported, Crescent Shield vocalist Michael Grant passed away late last month. The band has now posted the following statement online about releasing new material that Michael had already recorded and then putting the band to rest:
"As most of you have heard by now, Michael Grant died on May 31st. It’s still painful and hard to accept. His obituary has been posted in the Greenwich Time. It’s a nice tribute. Here it is:
MICHAEL DONALD GRANT III, age 39, died peacefully surrounded by family on May 31st in Los Angeles CA from a cerebral hemorrhage and complications of liver disease. Actor, vocalist, songwriter, lyricist and sports fan. Loving son of Betsy and Michael Grant of Greenwich CT, brother of Andrew, Luke, and Bettina McCarthy, Uncle to Wim and Avery McCarthy, Barlow Grant and Godfather to Avery. Namesake of his grandfather, the late M. Donald Grant, a co-founder of the New York Mets, he was a devoted follower of the NL baseball club. He also adored NHL hockey, and cheered for his adopted hometown team, the Los Angeles Kings. He attended Brunswick School and Trinity-Pawling School before graduating from Greenwich High School in 1991. He then was accepted for the two year program at The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre, and after completion toured the country as the Genie in a national production of “Aladdin”. He then moved to L.A. and began actuating his life-long love affair with the heavy metal music genre. As lead vocalist for the metal bands “Legend Maker,” “Onward” and “Crescent Shield” he was known for his rich and powerful baritone, and the passion with which he infused his music. He will also be remembered for his gift for comedy, his spot-on impressions of friends and associates, his warm and gentle nature, and his consistent effort to create a smile on everyone he came upon. A memorial mass will be held at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 469 North Street, Greenwich, CT on Thursday June 14th at 11:00 am.
"I’m sure there are few Crescent Shield fans chuckling at the thought of Mike as the Genie in Aladdin! The guy sure had multiple talents. Besides the CT memorial, we are also planning a memorial for Michael around Los Angeles which will probably take place in July. More information forthcoming.
"I would sincerely like to thank all the fans and friends of Michael that have offered condolences to both Michael’s family and me and the band. The outpouring of love and respect for Mike from music outlets, blogs, forums, and social sites has been amazing. It’s heartwarming to be part of such a wonderful community of caring, like-minded music fans. My respect for the heavy metal community has increased many times over.
"Some people have asked if Crescent Shield will find a new singer and continue. No. However, I mentioned that Michael and I had been writing material for another album. What I want to do is release this material. I have demo recordings of eight songs with me on the guitar and bass, a drum machine, and Michael singing. On seven of them, the vocals are recorded in good quality. On one song the vocals are horrible quality; my recording computer died and we had to improvise. I would like to rerecord the music with the rest of the band and use Mike’s vocal tracks; and rerecord the vocals on the one poor sound quality song. A guest vocalist will do that. This will be the last new music Crescent Shield will ever release. I know Mike would be happy his last songs were properly and professionally released.
"Here is a demo recording of one of the songs Mike and I wrote a while back called Flags of Thunder. This song was inspired by our fallen musical heroes especially Ronnie James Dio. Mike’s eloquent lyrics describe how we miss our fallen heroes and how we carry on their musical tradition; carry the flags of thunder. It’s so sad and ironic that Mike is now one of those fallen heroes."

"Due to diary clashes we are sorry to say Adrian Erlandsson won’t be playing with the band when they appear at Costa De Fuego on the 20th July, and also Wacken on the 4th August. However we didn’t want to let anyone down, so we are pleased to welcome back the lovely Jeff Singer as special guest drummer for both these shows!"
Jeff had this to say: "Really looking forward to getting back in the driving seat with my PL pals for a couple of shows. I was really pleased to be asked and am currently removing the cobwebs before winding the shit out of Holmes for a couple of weeks. Bring on the inconvenient flights and expensive airport food. I can't wait. The 'Moanometer' is being charged. See you on the road!"

Italian power/progressive band Vision Divine, founded by guitarist and songwriter Olaf Thorsen (Labyrinth) and singer Fabio Lione (Rhapsody Of Fire), announced that the band has signed with Germany's EarMusic/Edel Group Records and will release its seventh studio album "Destination Set to Nowhere" on September 14, 2012.
According to the press release: “Destination Set To Nowhere” is a melting pot, a perfect mix of all the styles the band has crossed and experimented with over the years. The concept album is kept in their well-known style, spiced up with a futuristic twist. The high-class production adds up to the unbelievably driven sound.
The concept of “Destination Set To Nowhere” takes place in space, starting from the social-political troubles everybody is experiencing in every-day life. It follows a man on his journey through open space, after having left the earth together with like-minded people. They set out to search a new home, a new planet to make everything better, to live their vision of peace. Finally, after a long journey, a new planet to call home has been found. But slowly, the crew falls back into the same old routines. The new found heaven has turned into the same hell they all wanted to leave behind. The only way to escape is to set out again, one man leaving alone – destination set to nowhere.
Thorsen had the following comments on the album: “We are sure this album will finally give us the chance to show all of our potential, and we worked hard on it in order to give the best possible album. In the end, we went even beyond our expectations, and I must admit it’s also thanks to the excitement and the good vibes we got from starting this adventure.” More...
