Kylesa has checked in from the studio with the following recording update:
"Week one at the Jam Room Studios of Columbia SC. After a week of intense tracking we have basic rhythm tracking completed. Luckily, the casualties have been few and the sessions are going great. We couldn't be happier with the progress thus far. We have been eating, sleeping, and living this music for a while now and the process of recording them really brings it all to a new level for the band.
"The songs are really starting to take shape, each becoming there own entity. Everyone at the Jam Room has been working extremely hard and accommodating the band at every level to make this record possible. Here are some pictures from this past week. We will continue updating and posting info and pictures in the coming weeks."
A series of images from the band's time in the recording studio can also be found here.
L.A. natives The Human Abstract are prepared to enter the studio with William Putney (Lamb of God, Suicide Silence) of The Machine Shop in NJ later this month to begin work on their upcoming full-length album for Hopeless Records. The band has been tucked away in downtown Los Angeles writing and preparing for their upcoming release. The album is currently slated for a fall release date.
"These new songs are among the most difficult THA songs to play, but at the same time are more satisfying. Past songs sometimes felt more like exercises, these feel more well rounded with moments that are really fun to play," voices guitarist Dean Herrera.
The Human Abstract recently announced a line-up change, with the addition of front man and vocalist Travis Richter formerly of From First to Last and The Color of Violence. The band also welcomed back original guitarist/songwriter A.J. Minette, leading the helm on writing duties for the new record.
"Without a doubt, this album has allowed me to step up not only as a bass player but as a Musician. We're stronger than ever before. I am super pumped for all our fans old and new to hear it," bassist Henry Selva adds.
Malevolent Creation has once again been rejoined by original bassist Jason Blachowicz, who issued the following statement about returning to the band:
"Been in hiding, working in tattoo shops for quite some time now but my gut has been aching to do one of the things that I do best... spreading malevolence across the globe with my brothers in metal. The evil in my blood has motivated me to dust the cobwebs off of my bass and commit to performing blasphemy and anger upon mine and everyone else's ears once again. This is also for one of my inspirations, Peter Steele, and for all of the loyal Malevolent Creation fans who have been supporting us for 23 fucking years! Our 11th album, Invidious Dominion, is going to rip the weak and feeble to shreds! See ya'll on Tour!! Bring the rum and git ‘er done!”
Malevolent Creation's 11th studio outing was produced and recorded by Erik Rutan at Mana Studios in Florida. The new album, entitled "Invidious Dominion," will be released on August 24th in North America via Nuclear Blast.

We've been talking to bands and fans everywhere to get their favorite mosh pit stories. This week Jessie Freeland, vocalist for The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza who's readying their new album "Danza III: The Series of Unfortunate Events," shares three "unfortunate events" from the pit.
Honestly there have been sooooooooo many tales from the pit we have seen over the years. Hmmmmmmm! I guess I can give you three that come to mind immediately. I don't remember the places, dates, or venues, but I do remember the events and they were all unfortunate.
First show that comes to mind we were probably only 45 seconds into the first song and the crowd was def already getting stupid. These are always the most fun shows to play but shit can get ridiculous sometimes and it didn't take to long for that to happen. Stage dives turned into crowd surfing and this one dude in particular reached up and tried to use the stage lights as his own personal jungle gym. Sparks, ceiling tile, and electrical currents went everywhere. The next time I saw him it looked like his head was still smoking...
Another time was after a show in the parking lot. I didn't see exactly what happend to this dude "in the pit," but his face was most definitely fucked up! He walked up to me and handed me what used to be his prescription glasses and told me thanks for the best show of his life. WTF do you say to something like that!?!?! I could only nod my head and tell him to go to the hospital ASAP!
The last one happened very recently on the Road To Metalfest tour. There was this little girl, maybe like 15, in the front row. At one point this dude three times her size jumps off the stage and CRUSHED her and her friends. I swear to god, I thought it killed her. I stopped playing to check on her and make sure she wasn't broken in half. I was seriously relieved to see her stand back up in one piece and I made it a point to find her after the show and hook her up with a free Danza t-shirt.
Danza's new album, "Danza III: The Series of Unfortunate Events," hits stores July 6 on Black Market Activities. You can check out the cover art and a preview of the album here.
Check back every Tuesday for more pit stories.

New York's Amalgama has issued the following update about upcoming live shows and the band's progress on a new album:
"The gigs are starting to fall into place, with 2 lined up for the month of July, and more on the way: July 2nd - a hometown gig right here in Albany, NY at Valentines with ourselves headlining along with local heavies Scrap Metal and one more TBA. July 23rd - Amalgama will be making our triumphant return to New Jersey with a show in Trenton at Championship Bar along with Local Demise, Live Set Disaster, Pistol Monk and several other bands. The show kicks off at 6pm, so don't get there late and miss all the great rockage as we take Trenton like Washington did in 1776 (Wikipedia that shit).
"This morning, we took a look at the new album art progress. In the realm of CD artwork this is most assuredly 'metal as fuck.' It's been a labor of love working with Al Berardi once again after his great re-design of our logo and he has really put together something special for us this time around. We really can't wait to reveal the EP title and show you the design for the cover (undoubtedly through Facebook & Myspace).
"We're in mixing mode now, getting the endless hours of guitar and drum tracks in order, and getting the right levels with the vocals. During the vocal tracking, we joked around about recording each song normally, as well as a second round ala Glenn Danzig (Mothaaaaa!). Thankfully, we came to our senses and passed up the opportunity. Maybe for the next round of tunes... Until then, stay metal."
