Chaos of Nazareth has posted a new song online titled "Damage in the Wall," which is taken off the band's upcoming new album "Rise of the Nation." Check out the song in the player below.
The band also commented:
"Chaos was formed in Nazareth, in 2006 by five Arab friends. Chaos is one of the rarest bands in the Arab sector that have been known for their distinctive genre -- i.e. Metal. The main topic behind their lyrics is the social, political, and daily struggles of the people living in the Middle East. The problems faced here is what pushed them to make a change and to deliver a message of truth to the world in order to try and transform people's lives, By creating such an influential music, people can understand the meaning about the painful reality they are living in. This Holy Land has turned into a cursed one.
"That’s why we have to fight with everything we've got to be what we believe we are born to do, and not care about people who hate us, because their hatred motivates us to prove we have what it takes to be a great metal band.
"In other words, Chaos are here to fight these distasteful thoughts and defend people's rights to live freely and be treated equally. The following quote communicates Chaos' message to the world: 'take a look around you, see the truth, tell the truth and acknowledge it, don’t let the system deceive you. We all deserve to live in peace, no matter who you are, no matter what color you are, we are all equal human beings living under the same sky.'"

Pentagram has issued the following announcement about recruiting new drummer Sean Saley:
"Drummer Sean Saley has joined Pentagram. Influenced by the likes of Bill Ward, Ian Paice, and Les Binks, drummer Sean Saley grew up on hard rock and heavy metal before taking a turn as drummer for DC underground punk legends Government Issue in the 80s.
"Anyone familiar with the Maryland metal scene may also remember Sean from 90s-era technical/doom/thrash wizards Angstrom, which also featured blind guitarist Torey Ferguson. Sean had been a longtime Pentagram fan before joining the band in June 2012."
For more on Pentragram, you can check out our recent look at the band for our Sunday Old School column.

The ProgPower USA festival is approaching its thirteenth year, but if you were to look at the number of international bands who have made the Atlanta-based festival the site of their US debut, you would find that number even more impressive – a solid eighty-two. That number includes bands such as Nightwish, Blind Guardian, Edguy, Gamma Ray, Pagan’s Mind, Circus Maximus, Stratovarius, Riverside, and more. The US is not known for heavy metal festivals – at least not of the level that Europe is known for, with Wacken, Hellfest, and all sorts of other open-airs. In the US, ProgPower is the longest-running and most well-known of the handful of festivals we do have. Moreover, as evidenced by the title, this is a pointedly progressive- and power- metal themed festival, with performances by an average of 14-16 bands over several days.
Last year, I had the privilege of attending the festival and contributed a series of write-ups about each of the days afterwards. The experience was much like a Comic-Con or anime convention, only geared around highly amplified sound aimed at rattling my brain and rocking my soul. It was like another world altogether, given that everyone I interacted with on that three-day stretch could talk for hours on end about the juxtaposition of synthesizer and guitar solos with no reservations. It felt like a family reunion. More...

Earsplit PR has issued the following announcement about hosting the upcoming Precious Metal NYC show on June 18th with Windfaerer and more:
"That’s right tri-state riot-seekers, the fine folks who have run New York City’s venerable Precious Metal Monday night metal shows for the past six years finally bit off more than they can chew, and have offered Earsplit PR a full night to curate! The debauchery will take place Monday, June 18th, as always at Precious Metal’s steady home at the Lit Lounge on the Lower East Side, and as always, run by Curran Reynolds (Wetnurse, Today Is The Day). With four Earsplit-related audio terror units taking the stage that night, ears will be scathed from 9pm until midnight, with plenty of depravity to prevail far into the morning hours.
"Elizabeth, New Jersey-based trio Windfaerer — the brainchild of young Earsplit henchmen Michael Goncalves — will raise fists with their epic, violin-infused Iberian folk metal, while the metallic, Danzig worship of Connecticut’s Nightbitch (featuring members of Ipsissimus) will bring the ragers out in throngs. The dual-bassist dementia from NYC-based AmRep-gone-deathstomp quartet The Year Is One (fronted by known Guitar World photographer/writer Jimmy Hubbard) will get gnarly alongside our close comrades in Brooklyn’s most enraged speed metal/hardcore bastard brigade, Vise Massacre, celebrating their self-released Expendable Humans LP. Between the beatings, the congregation will be serenaded by the beats and charm (and badass hat) of DJ Mike SOS (SEIZURE CRYPT/S.O.S.). Anybody in the vicinity that night come on out, and kiss your Tuesday goodbye."

Malicious grind-metallers Ambassador Gun are preparing to lash out at humanity with another dose of their rabid and caustic alloy this June, with a tour of the Midwestern U.S. planned to coincide with its release. The following press release was issued about the new "Golden Eagle" album:
"The outfit’s first full-length since the 2009-released 'When In Hell' album, the newly completed 'Golden Eagle' shows Ambassador Gun as always bridging all gaps seemingly subdividing extreme punk/metal genres into a crushing, crusty punk-as-fuck grind-infused amalgamation of revulsion. The trio cranks out 11 new songs 30 minutes on Golden Eagle, the album prevailing as a new DIY standard for the band, fully produced, recorded, and visually presented by the members themselves.
"As with previous recordings, Ambassador Gun will take aim at the masses directly with Golden Eagle, set to release the record via cassette and digital download via their self-operated label Pangea Media on June 19th."

With nationwide speculation that the zombie apocalypse is officially upon us, it would only seem appropriate for Six Feet Under's 18 Nights Of Blood Tour to commence this Friday. The near three-week run of live rituals will begin in Atlanta, Georgia and cannibalize its way across the U.S. coming to a close on the band's home turf of Tampa, Florida. Following a set at Denmark’s Heavy Days In Doomtown Festival, Rhode Island-based doom conjurors Pilgrim are pleased to announce their headlining appearance on this year’s edition of The Stoner Hands of Doom Fest.
Set to take place August 30th through September 2nd at El n Gee Club in New London, Connecticut, Pilgrim will appear alongside the likes of Earthride, Revelation, When The Deadbolt Breaks and more. The following press release was also issued about the fest:
"Stoner Hands of Doom is one of the premier annual gatherings for underground heavy/stoner/doom music in North America. SHoD has been held annually since 1999 in various small venues throughout the U.S. Many acts are unsigned/indie and many travel thousands of miles to gather in the name of rock. The concept was dreamed up by promoters Rob and Cheryl Levey, who have planned, booked and organized it since its inception. Under their guidance, the festival affectionately known as SHoD has grown over ten years from a one-day event to a weekend-long gathering, featuring over three dozen bands."
Comments drummer Krolg Splinterfist, the Slayer of Man: "Playing in Scandinavia was a great honor. The first ever Heavy Days in Doomtown festival was a massive success and Pilgrim is proud to have been a part of something that will surely become a chief ceremony for all lovers of music that is slow and heavy. Hails to all of the promoters and organizers who made our shows in the area a possibility! We will return sooner than later! Pilgrim looks into the future with great eagerness. The Stoner Hands of Doom festival has a long history in the New England doom metal community and we are prepared to add our name to the long list of bands that have glorified this fest. We are privileged and honored to be headlining the bill with the legendary Revelation, who has been an inspiration to many modern doom bands, ourselves included."

Scale The Summit is one of the well-known contemporary instrumental bands, dishing out music that has found a loyal following of technical-minded listeners. Their music is impressive from a playing standpoint, but it’s also full of great songwriting nuances that makes these songs more than just fodder for needless shredding. The band’s third album, “The Collective,” is seeped in dark and hostile undertones that is a 180 from the light antics of “Carving Desert Canyons.” I had the chance to speak to guitarist Chris Letchford in early June about the band’s current headlining tour, working with new bassist Mark Michell, and how he feels about people using cell phones at live shows.
