Walkerton, ON melodic metallers Odium, who released latest album "Burning The Bridges To Nowhere" on Year of The Sun Records earlier this April, have announced upcoming show dates in the province of Ontario in promotion of the 10 track anthem chanter, which is the follow up to the band's debut full-length "At The Bottom." Dates for the trek are below, and the following press release was also issued about the band:
"Founded in 2006 by drummer Joe Mullen and vocalist Tom Emmans, Odium was born in order to create a focused project centered on the themes of growth and attrition. After being joined by bassist Dale Burrows and guitarists Bo Louther and Andrew Fullerton, it was clear the band was quickly becoming a cohesive group of musicians that had found their strengths in each other’s abilities to contribute to the writing process.
"Most convincing is Odium’s arsenal of musical weapons that contribute to their overall sound, which was properly harnessed by Canadian producer Greg Dawson (The End, Moneen, Choke) on both of Odium's metal opus' underlining the quintet’s penchant for writing metal songs that are as heartfelt as they are heavy with Odium’s emotional hybrid of epic crescendos and fiery heaviness. Over the years, Odium has opened for such well known bands as Alexisonfire, The Agonist, Beneath the Massacre, Divinity, Moneen, Fuck the Facts, Fairwell to Freeway and Arise and Ruin."

We will be donating 50% of all profits from the 'Consume Rapture' album. The album was mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music in New Windsor, New York.

The 2012 edition of the Bloodstock Open Air festival will take place this coming August 9th - 12th, and the organizers of the festival have now issued the following statement about confirming Machine Head:
"It is with tremendous excitement that we can now reveal our final headliner to be Oakland metal titans Machine Head, who will make their first ever UK festival headlining appearance on Saturday, August 11th on the RONNIE JAMES DIO main stage.
"Machine Head first graced UK shores in the wake of their landmark debut album 'Burn My Eyes' in 1994 as main support to Slayer. Fan reaction to Machine Head’s signature brand of crushing metal was so intense that the band would return immediately afterward to headline their own sold-out shows at many of the same venues, launching a massive swell of passionate fan support that continues to this day.
"Seven albums, a Grammy nomination and countless tours later, UK fans continue to champion and support Machine Head as feverishly as they did at those first shows, and this year, at Bloodstock Open Air 2012, they will be given the unprecedented opportunity to influence Machine Head’s set list!
"Commemorating the 20th anniversary of Machine Head’s first-ever live performance at their roadie Mike Scum's getting-evicted-from-his-house party - for which they performed five songs – Bloodstocker ticket holders will be given the opportunity to vote for the five 'Burn My Eyes' songs they most want to hear Machine Head play during their headline set Saturday night, with the five that receive the most votes included in the set list (details to follow)!
"Anyone that’s ever witnessed Machine Head live will attest to the fact that the raw, unbridled energy of their performance is unlike anything else you’ll ever see. With countless legendary UK performances already on record, and a first-ever fan-influenced setlist, it goes without saying that Machine Head’s headline set at Bloodstock Open Air 2012 is going to go down in metal history as one of those festival performances that you’ll forever be glad you got to see. Keep an eye on the official Bloodstock Facebook page for your chance to vote on the songs YOU want to hear."

California hardcore act The Ghost Inside is streaming the band's new album "Get What You Give" in full, starting today. Stream the album through Altpress.com at this location. The following press release was issued about the album:
"Get What You Give is nothing short of the band’s most dynamic and riveting material thus far, an album that emphasizes deep, personal vocals, urgent riffing and pile-driving breakdowns within the framework of their heavily melodic modern metallic hardcore. The quintet's two prior releases - the breakthrough album Returners (2010) and their first full-length, Fury and the Fallen Ones (2008) - laid down the promise and potential that has now been fully delivered with Get What You Give (produced by Jeremy Mckinnon of A Day To Remember).
"The first single, 'Engine 45' is a powerful hardcore anthem built for crowd participation in the live environment, where The Ghost Inside takes pride in giving all of themselves over to the crowd. As a stand out track on the album, 'Engine 45' will undoubtedly impress die-hard TGI fans and new converts, alike. To watch the video, please go to this location."
"'Engine 45' deals with the struggle of addiction,” says front man Jonathan Vigil. “When it came time to shoot a video for it, we wanted that message to hit hard. We hired Drew Russ to direct it and it was his idea to use an old Eskimo fable. In the fable, the Eskimo plants a bloody knife outside of his igloo so that when a pack of wolves pass by they become so consumed with their bloodlust that they don't realize the knife is cutting their tongues, making them bleed to death. A concept that really proves how destructive and deadly addiction can be." More...

Swedish death metal legends Grave will release their 10th studio album "Endless Procession Of Souls" on August 27th in Europe and on August 28th in North America via Century Media Records.
Recorded at Studio Soulless, "Endless Procession Of Souls" promises to be yet another death metal masterpiece in Grave's revered catalog, featuring nine tracks of uncompromising no-bullshit death metal.
In support of this upcoming release, the band will be touring North America with Morbid Angel and Dark Funeral this September/October. In regards to the album and tour, founding member Ola Lindgren (vocals/guitar) comments, "Grave will return to North America in September, sharing the madness with our comrades in Morbid Angel and Dardk Funeral. After the successful 'Into the Grave' sets we did in September last year, it will be very exciting to come back to promote the new album 'Endless Procession of Souls', which will be released August 28th in North America (Aug 27th in Europe) through Century Media Records. This killer bill is in extremo deluxe and will show you what brutality is all about...Beware the Winds of Chains!"
Dark Funeral's Lord Ahriman (guitar) adds, "We are extremely proud to announce our participation in the upcoming Morbid Angel tour throughout North American territories this fall. We will march alongside our Swedish comrades Grave and American death metal-bezerkers Vadimvon, and it is without a doubt that this very tour will surely be remembered as one of the most extreme tours of all time. Hence, we command all our loyal North American metal-demons to come out and celebrate utter darkness every night. It's time to ignite the black flame and show the world that the force of extreme metal is unrelenting." More...
Female-fronted symphonic folk metal act Cryptic Age has now released the new full-length album "Sounds of Infinity," which follows the "Homeland" EP (reviewed here). The band has now posted samples of all the tracks from the album online, which can be heard in the SoundCloud player below.
Poland's progressive rock stars Riverside have signed a new worldwide deal with InsideOut Music, and the band is currently working on a new studio album for release in early 2013. The upcoming album is the full-length follow-up to 2009's "Anno Domini High Definition," which entered the charts at No. 1 in Poland and attained Gold status in the band's home country.
Riverside has this to say about the new deal:
"We're very pleased that we'll keep collaborating with InsideOut/Century Media. We've overcome many difficulties together and we hope that the new contract, signed at the moment when we start another decade as a band, will help us to grow more, and will make us able to reach a larger number of listeners with our music. The new album is on the way. I believe it will be a new beginning for Riverside."
Thomas Waber, founder and label manager of InsideOut Music, adds: "Riverside is one of the most important bands on InsideOutMusic and in the current Progressive Rock scene. Therefore I am extremely pleased to be able to renew and continue the relationship with our friends from Poland!"
Witchsorrow, the pure, no-frills doom trio from the UK, will release new album, "God Curse Us," on July 3rd in North America. A new track from the album, "Aurora Atra," is streaming now over on DecibelMagazine.com.
Guitarist/vocalist Necroskul describes the song: "This is a song for when you begrudge the sun rising, the coming of another day. When you curse the sky and the sun hanging in it. It sets the tone for the album quite aptly, I think."
The following press release was also issued about the album: "Recorded over Halloween by Chris Fielding at Wales' ultra-remote Foel Studios (Electric Wizard, Primordial, Hawkwind), God Curse Us is an album that brings the dark spirit of '70s Sabbath forward to 2012. Capturing the dark essence of classic doom: heavy, mournful riffs; oppressive atmosphere, bleak, sinister vocals and full-power metal freakouts, there's no mistaking it for anything else."
"I just want to carry on what Sabbath started," states frontman Necroskull. "I want to keep that old flame alive. I think that's always been what all the great doom bands have strived to do. It's a tremendous honour to add our own colour to the great tapestry of doom metal."
"There isn't any light at all in the album," asserts Necroskull. "It's far too easy for metal to become a parody. We're not the band out high-fiving everyone and pouring shots down your throat. Everything is falling apart, you can almost taste Armageddon - we're the ones peering ahead to the end of the world."
Portuguese gothic metal act Moonspell has issued the following statement about missing a show in Kosice due to a bus breakdown:
"Dear Moonspell fans in Kosice,
"We are deeply sorry to announce that we will not be able to travel to your beautiful city and offer you a night of Fullmoon Madness.
"Our tourbus broke down in Zadar, Croatia and we weren't able to get it fixed in time to make it to the show. Words cannot describe our disappointment, and we can only imagine how sad you must be reading these news.
"We vow to do our best to come back sometime soon and offer you a night to remember!
"Until then, be sure that you are forever in our Wolfhearts."

Rising West, the new band comprised of Queensryche members Michael Wilton, Eddie Jackson, Scott Rockenfield and Parker Lundgren along with Crimson Glory vocalist Todd La Torre, were denied access to the Queensryche website and Facebook Page in an effort to promote the band's upcoming appearances and live events. In the latest post on the Rising West Facebook Page, the band stated:
"We are being denied access to our own facebook page and website (meaning Queensryche) so please spread the word for about Rising West. Rising West will be on KISW 99.9 this Thursday around 4:30. Thank you for your support and we hope to see you at our shows!"
This is just the latest in an unraveling situation in Queensryche camp where rumors have been circulating the web that vocalist Geoff Tate has had multiple altercations with the rest of the band, although these rumors have not been substantiated. Just after the announcement about the creation of Rising West, management for Queensryche issued a statement denying the rumors of internal issues with the band and stating the members will be pursuing other ventures for a while.
Over the recent Memorial Day weekend, the band played Rocklahoma at which time Tate told the crowd that "they suck." The incident was caught on video (see below): More...
