Australia's Astral Winter has issued the following update about recording a new album:
"So I thought it was about time to let people know whats going on with the album. The album is progressing pretty well, alot more progress since my last update. Some songs have been fully recorded and mixed (minus vocals) and are sounding great. Still a couple solo leads that need to be filled in, but virtually complete. There only remains 2 full songs to be recorded which i can probably record a majority off in the next couple weeks. I'm having a slight problem with the Choir's and some acoustic bits, but hopefully I can over come that soon.
"At this moment I'm going to aim for a September release, I would like to say it'd be sooner but I'm being realistic. It'll probably be pushed back even further then that, I can't really say for sure at the moment. I'm taking alot of time to make this album sound as good as I can, so I don't want to rush it. I'll also probably be uploading a track from the new album soon just to give everyone a preview of how the album will sound and the quality. I'm thinking I'll upload 'Longing For Winters End.' Chicago’s These Are They is set to release the band's sophomore full-length, "Disposing of Betrayers," on September 14, 2010 through Unruly Sounds/The End Records. The album was recorded at Belle City Sound in Milwaukee, WI with producer Chris Wisco (Michael Angelo Batio, Dirge Within, Jungle Rot) and mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö (Hail of Bullets, Edge of Sanity, Nightingale) at Unisound in Örebro, Sweden.
The five-piece band began writing "Disposing of Betrayers" soon after the 2009 release of the debut album "Who Linger." The band pays tribute to Devastation on the album with a cover of the track "Cranial Hemorrhage.” These Are They also invited original guitarist Erv Brautigam and vocalist Duane Rasmussen to join in on the recording. Erv created a solo for the song (which was not part of the original track) and Duane lent his vocal talent.
"The process of writing this CD was quite unique,” said vocalist Paul Kuhr. “We knew exactly where we needed to go musically. The lyrical subject matter had to be approached more carefully. Taking a topic like Chicago crime history, and still making it a death metal record, posed more of a challenge for Steve and me, who wrote all the lyrics. I think the crushing production, aggressive riffing and drumming, and the interesting topic all came together to create what I feel is an amazing recording. I'm quite proud of this one." More...
Washington D.C. based thrash act Vengeance has checked in with the following update about writing new material:

We've got about 5 new songs and a cover song done. We have some more in the works that we need to hammer out. Hopefully we'll have around 12 songs when we're ready to record.
"Right now we need to start playing some shows. We could use your help booking. We're looking to play around the D.C., MD VA area as well as maybe up and down the east coast. Let us know if you want to hook up some shows. Lastly we have our new album on itunes now. We have the artwork done and are actually planning on pressing physical copies of it. Hopefully we'll have those printed and pressed within the next 2 months. Anyway, that's it for now."

In a recent interview with the Pulse Of Radio, heavy metal legend Ozzy Osbourne revealed that the lawsuit between himself and Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has been settled and that the two are now on good terms. When asked about a possible reunion of the four original members, he responded:
"Well, I never say never. I mean, I've got a few ideas, but we'll see what happens, you know. We did try and do another album, but we've all changed so much and it's - if you don't do an album that blows the doors off the last one that we did together, then it's gonna be looked upon as a joke, you know."
Washington, DC based metal band Division has announced their new bassist, Tim Regan. The band commented:
"Tim’s a long time fan of the band, and as a guitarist with Burning Shadows, we’ve already shared several stages, including our home base at Jaxx. He had all the assets we were looking for in a bassist – talent, drive, experience, and a sarcastic sense of humor. He’s also yet another engineer, which will prove useful when a.) things break and b.) he has to pick up our bar tabs for the next year, Metallica-style.
"You’ll get to see Tim for the first time on July 16th at O’Shaughnessy’s in Alexandria – or just go to any power metal show at Jaxx. He’ll be drinking a Guinness and throwing the horns…"
