According to reports, Kurt Cobain’s ashes have been stolen from Courtney Love’s house in Los Angeles.
Love is apparently suicidal over the theft, stating "I can’t believe anyone would take Kurt’s ashes from me. I find it disgusting and right now I’m suicidal. If I don’t get them back I don’t know what I’ll do."
Love has revealed that she used to carry the ashes with her inside a pink teddy bear shaped bag along with a lock of Kurt’s hair. "I used to take them everywhere with me just so I could feel Kurt was still with me. Now it feels like I have lost him all over again."
Billboard.com reports: Though not without setbacks, the Van Halen reunion tour ended up a massive success, wrapping June 2 in Grand Rapids, Mich., with a total gross of more than $93 million and close to one million in attendance from 74 shows.
The tour featured founding members David Lee Roth, and Eddie and Alex Van Halen, along with Eddie's son Wolfgang Van Halen.
After initially being set up as an amphitheater tour for the summer of 2007, the Live Nation-produced reunion temporarily derailed when guitarist Eddie Van Halen entered rehab. But it was resurrected as a fall arena run that stretched into 2008.
The tour was delayed again in March because of health issues for Eddie, then returned to the road in April to finish with a flourish.
The shows marked the first time Roth had performed with the band in more than 23 years. Van Halen's handlers say it was the top-grossing tour in the band's history.

ARSIS is currently on the "In Thrash We Trust" tour with Death Angel, God Forbid, and Light This City.
With the release date of "Eternal Kingdom", the brand new
album from Cult of Luna, guitarist Johannes Persson recently gave a track-by-track explanation of the songs from the upcoming album. To hear Johannes discussing the meanings behind the songs over exclusive clips from the songs themselves, head to http://www.myspace.com/cultoflunaeternalkingdom.
Based on an actual journal found in an old mental home, "Eternal Kingdom" takes listeners on a weird and wonderful journey through the mind of a former patient as he tells the tale of how his wife came to be murdered and of the mythical creatures he claims to have encountered during the time of the harrowing event.
The fifth album from Cult of Luna, "Eternal Kingdom" was recorded at Tonteknik Studios in the band's hometown of Umea and was produced by Magnus Lindberg. "Eternal Kingdom" will be released on June 16th in the UK/Europe and July 8th in the USA.
Denmark based death metal band, The Cleansing, have issued the following update:
"The album is now (finally!) complete! Jacob Hansen did a great job mixing and mastering the songs, and it sounds absolutely killer! Really tight, clean and yet very brutal!"

Here's a statement from Trent Reznor on nin.com:
"I am proud to announce the final personnel lineup of nine inch nails for the foreseeable future. Joining me onstage will be Robin Finck, Alessandro Cortini, Josh Freese and Justin Meldal-Johnsen.
"We've been working on something really special for these shows and so far I couldn't be happier with the results. We'll be revealing some live performances shortly here on nin.com - in the meantime, we've posted some photos from rehearsals up on Flickr here.
"Meanwhile, I assume some of you may not be entirely familiar with the acts I've chosen to join us on various legs of this tour, so we've compiled a sampler EP for you. CLICK HERE to download this for free. If you like what you hear, be sure to show up early to the show (and please remember to support them by purchasing their music, if so inclined)."
The EP contains five high quality, DRM-free, fully-tagged MP3 files from A Place To Bury Strangers, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, Crystal Castles, Deerhunter, and Nine Inch Nails. Your download will also include cover art and a pack of digital extras.

Some bands have dropped off this year's This Is Hardcore Fest and the organizers have posted a message to explain why.
"108- These guys are great. Right now they have things to take care and are taking the remainder of the spring/summer off to handle business. Expect them back at full speed this fall/winter."
"SHATTERED REALM – Another band we were really looking forward to, but due to lineup changes will not be playing the fest. They will however be playing Pressure Fest in Germany with Original Singer Chris (of Suffer The Living)."
"STEEL NATION- With a split 7" in the studio their singer flakes out and leaves them stranded. Pauly Edge of Meltdown came to the rescue but ultimately they are without a singer right now. Hopefully they will have someone by August and will be playing the PRESHOW!!"
Some of the bands that are currently confirmed for the festival's lineup include:
ALPHA & OMEGA
PAINT IT BLACK
POVERTY BAY SAINTS
Although location information was not readily available, the festival is presumably taking place later this summer in Philadelphia, PA, as in past years. More details will be posted as they are made available.
Billboard.com reports: Mastodon is five songs into its next Warner Bros. studio album, which the group is recording in its Atlanta hometown with producer Brendan O'Brien.
Drummer Brann Dailor tells Billboard.com that so far, "everything sounds real creepy and spaced out and different." He's particularly enthused about a 15-minute jam dubbed "The Last Baron," which happily, O'Brien had no interest in making shorter or changing.
"There's so many toys to play with over at his studio, like pipe organs and all this crazy sh*t," says Dailor, who was introduced to O'Brien through Bruce Springsteen drummer Max Weinberg (his son is a big Mastodon fan). "There are little cool things we're going to do to the record that we've been wanting to do for a long time."
Dailor promises the as-yet-untitled album, which should be out before the end of the year, will have the conceptual feel of prior releases "Leviathan" (based around "water") and "Blood Mountain" ("earth"), but he's not ready to get specific just yet.
"I think a lot of people didn't realize 'Blood Mountain' was a concept record," he says. "We made up our own story again this time, but we may try to make it a little more evident that that's what's going on. I like to keep them speculating on our message board. There's no possible way they could guess this."
As previously reported, Mastodon will be touring Europe on the Unholy Alliance tour late this year with Slayer and Trivium. Initial tour dates were just revelaed here.

Polish death metal legends Vader have checked in with the following:
"As you might know, a few weeks ago, VADER, in association with Abysmo, made a new videoclip for one of the band's classic songs, 'Carnal'. The trailer for this video is available online [below]. Full version of the video will available online pretty soon so stay tuned! The song was re-recorded exclusively for VADER's anniversary album 'XXV', out now on Regain Records.
"XXV" was specially recorded for VADER's 25th anniversary and features re-recorded songs from the band's history. The album was entirely recorded, mixed and mastered at Hertz Studio with the Wieslawscy Bros. at the helm, known for their previous VADER collaborations on such releases as "The Art Of War" and "Impressions In Blood". The regular double-disc edition of the album features 25 songs, including "Carnal", "Cold Demons", "Black To The Blind", and a previously unreleased song called "Tyrani Tyrani Piekiel" from the very early days of the band. A special digipack edition of "XXV" has been made available with an additional DVD featuring bonus songs (Polish versions of "Trupi Jad" and "Reborn In Flames") and some historical rarities in the form of video footage recorded between 1986 and 2001. All the graphics and the entire "XXV" layout was designed by Jacek Wisniewski, the Polish graphic artist resposible for the cover art of previous VADER releases "Black To The Blind", "Litany", "Revelations" and "The Beast". Ozzy Osbourne has won a case against the newspaper the Daily Star, who claimed that he threw the Brit Awards into mayhem following a health scare. All winnings from the case will be donated to the Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Program.
Classic Rock Magazine has issued the following report:
Classic Rock was among a select band of rock journalists to hear a taster from the new Metallica album today. At present untitled, the band’s new record has been nicknamed by management “Nine epics and one song”. We heard six of 'em – unmixed and all unnamed (we guess at some of the titles in our track by track, below).
Classic Rock was one of the few magazines to give the band’s last album, St. Anger, a bad review on its release, Philip Wilding giving it 2/5. “It’s unfettered hell-for-leather nonsense pretty much from beginning to end,” he wrote. “Forget nuance or gravitas – or Metallica, for that matter – this is latter-day heavy metal pulverised into a risible mush that owes as much to rock music’s deviation in the last three years, as to the credible legend that Metallica have built and cultivated since the early 80s.
“This, you reason, must be the sound of a mid-life crisis…” More...
