Dutch act Alerion recently issued a statement about recruiting new band members. Alerion has now checked in with the following update about the musicians who left the band:
"It has been quiet over here for a while, but not without reason. In the period after the departure of our keyboardist Paul Bouman in October of 2009, both guitarist Bart Lubbers and drummer Lennert Stap decided to leave the band. More recently, they were followed by keyboardist Nathalia Hoogkamer, who had joined us in May of 2010, leaving the keyboard parts to several songs mostly unfinished.
"Although Bart was only with us for a year, his decision to leave early in 2010 was nevertheless mainly due to his desire to play music not related to our music or metal in general. Lennert left the band some months later because of musical differences which had been gradually increasing for some time. We wish them both all the best in their musical ventures. We also like to take this opportunity to thank Lennert for his dedication and laying down the foundations to our music for three years.
"Nathalia Hoogkamer of Thronar joined us on keyboard in May 2010 and began work on finishing the keyboard parts on three new songs. Unfortunately, Nathalia abruptly left the band in January this year. We are sad to see her go and wish her all the best in the future."
It was reported last month that former KISS guitarist Vinnie Vincent had been arrested for assault. Vincent has now issued the following statement about the issue, which was posted on his YouTube channel:
"I want to thank the many people who sent their well wishes to me through this very hurting time. There is much to say to all of you but the most important thing for me to let you know is that what you have been reading is not true. Irresponsible reporting and fabrication of events that never happened destroys peoples' lives, and that is exactly what has happened. It's very unfortunate we live in times where you're guilty even if you're innocent, but it's the way of the world now. It's also sad to me that not only do the media get away with publishing unsubstantiated sensationalized reports that are then taken as 'the truth,' but people now routinely hide behind their computers and usernames to intentionally inflict enormous damage without consequence, all for their own amusement. What they don't know is the pain they cause will always be greater than their fabrication or exaggeration.
"About my precious dogs: My dogs and cat have been, are and will always be the most important thing in my whole life. I love them more than my words can say. I look at dogs and cats as "perfect little people" with loving and unconditional hearts that I believe God gifted to us to help comfort us through our lives, which always seems to be filled with pain in one way or another. I have 20 dogs that were rescued since 1999 from unspeakable and horrible abuse. I never turned my back or said no if a dog or cat needed a loving home. Each one of them is spoiled rotten; great food, love, comfort, care and shelter. They never leave my side and sit with me when I watch videos or when I play my guitar, the sound of which seems to fascinate them. Out of my twenty dogs, half of them are big dogs and the others are small. Fencing was put up to separate the big dogs from the little ones who could roam without any problem. One day, without my knowing, some of the big dogs accidentally got loose somehow and killed three of my babies. More...

Nemesea has issued the following announcement about guest musicians appearing on "The Quiet Resistance," the band's upcoming album:
"Hey everybody, first guests announced. We are very proud to announce the first guest artists. Yes…there will be a couple of guests on TQR! And not only singers!
"Today we want to introduce you to DJ Matt Litwin and singer Marcus Klavan. Matt formed the band Bulletproof Messenger in 2001 and Marcus joined them in 2003. We know this band for a while now and have always liked the turntable parts in their music as well as the voice of Marcus. So we asked Matt to put some turntable effects in one of the songs and Marcus to join in the same song to do a duet with Manda.
"Last Sunday we had a rehearsal for our first gig that will have TQR songs on the set list. It was great playing those songs together. Manda made a photoblog about it. You can find it here.
"Our first TQR gig will be this Sunday, together with the Gathering in ATAK, Enschede – NL. There will be songs from all our albums on the setlist, so make sure to be there! Bring your camera's! We'll put the nicest pics in a photo blog on our website! More news next week! Stay tuned!"

Montreal technical death metal band Derelict has commented on the creation of the new song "Perpetuation" through Antimusic.com. Vocalist Eric Burnet stated:
"Hello! Eric here from Derelict. I'm going to tell you the story behind our song 'Perpetuation,' off our 2011 promo EP. The track will be on our upcoming full-length album, and is currently a free download on our bandcamp page.
"We never really stop writing in Derelict. Right after the release of our 2009 album, 'Unspoken Words', we were already working on new stuff. In fact, everyone in the band writes music and we currently have songs from myself, our guitar player Max, and our drummer Jordan in the works.
"However, mid-2010 we went through a bit of a crisis on tour with some important lineup changes. The remaining core of the band was left pondering our future and trying to envision what to do about moving forward. It was around this time that I started working on the music for 'Perpetuation'. It wasn't entirely intentional, but I think I wanted to remind myself, in one streamlined song, what Derelict meant to me musically. I endeavored to include all of our best characteristics into something that would scream, not only to the fans, but to us, 'we're here, we're alive, and we're not going anywhere!' More...
Northern New Jersey based Will Killmore, drummer Charlie Corletta has decided to leave the band citing personal and creative differences. The following personal Statment was issued by Charlie on the bands Facebook:
"I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone including the boys in WKM for a lifetime of memories and experiences that I will cherish forever. It has been a unbelievable journey being a part of a band that in my opinion is one of the best new metal bands out there today. I say that with confidence because I see and dealt with just how much passion, time and sacrifice has gone into this band."
"At this time I wish I could say I'm kidding but the truth is I will no longer be continuing my musical career with Will Killmore. I'm still perusing music professionally and plan on remaining active with other music projects."
"I will carry out my musical obligations to the band and our fans by performing three more shows this summer. Details for those shows will be made available on www.willkillmore.com shortly. This will be a nice way to close a chapter of my life on a positive note."
"Again, thank you James, Joe, Brian, and Steve for making a dream come true! You have proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that with enough balls, imagination, and ambition five strangers could create an unstoppable force. I wish you all the best of luck and look forward to the remaining three gigs," said Corletta. More...

Norway's Urgehal has issued the following statement about missing the band's previously scheduled appearance at the Silesian Massacre festival:
"Comrades! Unfortunatly we're back from Oslo airport. The organizer claimed he booked flight tickets, but when we arrived at the airport nothing was booked. Same shit happened to DHG.
"Basically everything turned out to be a lie and a rip-off. We strongly advice other bands not to collaborate with this man since he obviously have no clue how to organize a festival.
"We were looking forward to desecrate the Polish soil after 5 years of absence. Don't worry, we will be back somewhere in time. Hail the Polish Black Metal Militia... You know who you are!!!"

We have a few guidelines if you want to submit your name for an audition. Please prepare a video or audio presentation of you playing any one of our songs AND/OR send us video of live footage from your previous projects that best represents your playing. Please understand that not everybody will qualify for an audition. We are being very selective during this process and we hope that you don't take offense if you aren't chosen. If you are chosen, we will be looking heavily at your ability to learn quickly and your song writing capability. These things are just as important as being able to play our songs. We look forward to hearing and seeing your submissions. Please pass this along to anyone that is capable and might be interested. Everything is tuned down a half step with a dropped C#"

European extreme metallers Mastic Scum have posted the following update online;
"We are currently working on the new album! We are fucking excited about the new record which follows our last album, 'Dust', our strongest release up to date, of which we are very proud!! However, the new release will be for sure a progression from the songwriting and sound production points of view. Some of the songwriting is already done, but we still have work to do! The new material so far is fucking brutal, combining shredding rhythms, mosh grooves and grindcore blast attacks! We sure give 100% in the songwriting process and we cannot wait to enjoy with everyone the new overdose of brutal distorted structures! Be prepared!! As our goal is to enter the studio earliest in autumn 2011, we are very focused on our work and will play just a few live shows this summer/fall. Nevertheless, we really look forward to grind with you at our upcoming shows!"

"Thanks to everyone who came out to see Converge on our recent U.S. Tour.
"Unfortunately on our day drive from St. Louis to Austin, one of our members had a serious health scare. We rushed him to the nearest ER were he was looked at by some fine Oklahoma doctors. After a night’s stay in the hospital and a battery of tests we were able to have him discharged earlier today. We are now racing (quite literally) to make it to our show at Chaos In Tejas, albeit extremely late, to play an abbreviated set. Wish us luck…
"Because of this health issue, we are canceling the remaining few shows of this current U.S. tour so he can get home and get some medical attention asap. To those in Little Rock, Nashville, and Raleigh, we will add you to our list of places for make up shows later down the road.
"Thanks to all of you for your continued support, it is appreciated by all of us."
