German technical death metal act, Sophicide, announced that the name of the debut release is entitled "Perdition Of The Sublime." Set for North American release on August 14, 2012 via Willowtip Records, the 11-track long player was recorded, mixed and mastered by founder Adam Laszlo at his home studio and features the striking cover design by artist Steve Voigt.
Formed as a one-man-project in 2009 by Laszlo, then 19, Sophicide fuses "elaborate melodies with battering technical brutality into a sound that’s as malicious as it is memorable." Meaning "murder of wisdom," Sophicide describes the state of modern society and serves as the central theme of "Perdition Of The Sublime." Laszlo commented: “It's another word for anti-intellectualism. People are stupid, ignorant and seem to be proud of it. This is a disturbing trend.”
“I'm really keen to release this album,” he continues of the release. “I've put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into it and I hope people can connect to it as I do. Basically the overall theme coincides with the meaning of ‘sophicide.’ Intellect and enlightenment seem to be displaced by religion and casting shows. There’s this overall apathy, people don't seem to give a shit about anything as long as they get their cheap meat and TV shows. This is what POTS is basically about, although the focus is on religion, after all it's the elephant in the room.”
The track listing for "Perdition Of The Sublime" is as follows:
1. The Art Of Atrocity (Streaming below)
2. Within Darkness
3. Perdition Of The Sublime
4. Of Lust And Vengeance

German horror punk band The Other is streaming the new track "My Home Is My Casket" exclusively over at Noisecreep at this location. The song appears on the band's new LP "The Devils You Know," which is scheduled to drop on July 31, 2012 through SPV/Steamhammer Records.
Vocalist Rod Usher commented on the track: "'My Home Is My Casket' was one of the last songs written for The Devils You Know and it follows the tradition of the heavy opener which we have on every album. The song works as a little horror story about a vampire who lives in his casket, it's actually about alienation and about not finding a place in society and losing the will to live. The song will also open our live shows from now on and it will be exiting to see how people react, since it's probably the most "metal" song on the album." More...
Charlie Dominici, former vocalist for Dream Theater, launched a Kickstarter fundraiser campaign for the creation of the movie adaptation of the Dominici O3 trilogy albums released in 2005, 2007 and 2008. This screenplay aims to capture the essence of Dominici's sweeping vision of humanity's past, present - and ultimately, its fate. A collaboration by Dominici himself, along with screenwriter and author David Sakmyster, and best-selling international author Steven Savile.
The current phase is to fund the completion of the Screenplay, as well as some initial entries into screenplay contests and festivals, aiming to attract agents as well as production companies and other talent. If successful, the next phase will consist of further promotional materials including short trailers, movie posters and convention shows, building toward casting, funding and ultimately - production. For more information on how to donate with benefits unlocked at various stages of fundraising, head over to this location.
The story is described as follows:
"A lone sleeper cell terrorist is pursued by a derelict detective until their lives become intertwined in a cat and mouse game that veers toward an incredible apocalyptic conclusion. This wild roller coaster ride of a story delves deeply into history, politics, religion, society and even extra-terrestrials. It will make you rethink our role on this planet, our entire history, why we're here, the very notion of free will - and what it means to be human." More...

Spanish sci-fi death metal band Wormed recently reissued its album "Quasineutrality" as "Quasineutrality V.2" in a digipak with two bonus tracks on Willowtip Records. Track three, “Vortex Mitosis,” is a remix based on the original song “Voxel Mitosis” and was recorded and mixed by Wormed vocalist Phlegeton in January 2012. Track four, “Tunnel Of Ions,” (live) was recorded at Mountains Of Death in Switzerland in 2011 an remastered by DP Rey at Delta314 Sound Studio.
Wormed is a quirky band, in that all of its songs are themed with astrophysics and some themes of metaphysics and possible quantum physics. They even call their band members cosmonauts. Wormed will be appearing at that three day gala Extremefest during July 5th-7th, with more details over on the event page. Below is an upload of the studio version of "Tunnel of Ions," whose live remix is featured on the reissue.
Ovid's Withering has posted a teaser trailer online for an upcoming release, which can be found below. The band also commented:
"We are very happy to announce that we are starting a new project WITHIN Ovid's Withering. Now..bear with me here, let me elaborate. We're not starting another band, or anything like that. Same band, separate sound. A 'side album' if you will. This album will be a slower, more ambient, eerier rendition of Ovid's that we would love to share with the world.
"Let me clarify real quick here: We are completely happy with our sound as it is, and we are NOT changing it! Noooo way. This album is completely independent from the album-in-progress that you've been listening to, and will also NOT affect the release of said album later this year. This is an ADDITION to what we have already. A new sound within the sound that is Ovid's Withering. Double the Ovid's!
"This is something we've been planning for a while, and decided to finally bring it to light for all of you to see. With all that being said, please keep an open mind when you jam this track! This is not typical Ovid's... which is why we are releasing it separately. If it ain't yo thing, then its all good! You still have our other album to fall back on. This is purely something we are doing for the love of music, and to try to portray even more imagery to our fans. And without further ado...enjoy." More...

LAMB OF GOD management will be issuing an official statement on Monday regarding the charges made against singer Randy Blythe. As no formal charges have yet been made and the case is only in the investigation stages, it would be premature to make an official statement filled with false truths or innuendos.
Having said that, management wished to address today one false piece of information that has been included in many of the news stories released so far. Under no circumstances was there a fight of any kind involved. This incident deals with a fan that three times during the concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head.
Again, until the investigation is concluded this weekend, nothing more will be released, but clarity and the facts needed to be addressed on this one reported point which is totally inaccurate.
Guitarist/keyboardist Craig Argyle of Norwich-based act Bypass has issued the following announcement about splitting with the band:
"It's with great sorrow that today, I am announcing my departure from Bypass. I've recently had a fantastic opportunity which coupled with my current job will leave me very little time to participate in a full time band.
"I want to thank all 201 of you for supporting this group and myself, and support Dave, Chuck and Sam in their future. I will continue to make one EP a year of my own creations when I get a holiday, but it will be more varied in genres, free as always, but have no live opportunity. I'll miss you guys!"

Swedish melodic metal act, Soilwork, has officially announced the arrival among its ranks of guitarist and long-time friend, David Andersson (Night Flight Orchestra). David steps in after the departure of Peter Wichers.
“We’re super stoked to have David with us,” said vocalist, Björn “Speed” Strid. “He’s a blast to be around and a kick ass guitarist. Plus, we’ve known him for so many years, from all the touring together, we just know he’s a perfect fit for us.”
Andersson has toured on and off with Soilwork since 2006, and most recently during the 2011 festival season in support of the band’s acclaimed eighth album, The Panic Broadcast.
Regarding the recently announced split with founding guitarist Peter Wichers, who first left the band in 2005 only to return four years later, Speed commented, “We just had to do this. It’s in the best interest of both him and us. Soilwork was born to be out there, tearing up the stage. Peter’s been unable to commit to the kind of touring we need to do and it’s time for us to move on. David’s played with us for so long, he’s really grown into the band. It feels natural, like a seamless transition. We’re thankful for everything Peter has contributed to Soilwork over the years and we sincerely wish him the best.”
Soilwork is currently in the process of writing new music for its ninth album, "The Living Infinite." “We’re working our asses off to put this record together,” said Speed. “It’s gonna be fantastic, the songs and ideas are flowing like crazy! As far as the musical direction goes, there’s tons of crushing, high energy, in-your-face metal. Trust me, we’re not about to go mellow anytime soon!”
Dark Fortress has posted footage online of the band performing at this year's Wave Gotik Treffen festival, which can be viewed below. Dark Fortress also commented:
"For all those who missed our show at Wave Gotik Treffen in may, here's a clip of 'Ghastly Indoctrination,' our 2nd song that night. We had the camera directly on stage, so the angle of the video might be a bit unusual... More videos of that show will follow soon!"
Metalsucks.net posted an update on the Blythe arrest in Prague this week. A show review for the Lamb Of God performance on May 24, 2012, which involved the incident relating to the recent arrest was detailed in a Czech metal blog called "Sic Maggot," the full article of which can be found at this location.
Stressing that this is all conjecture at this point, according to the blog it appeared that Blythe was unhappy with a couple of fans who jumped on stage. One of the fans apparently was struck by Blythe multiple times and allegedly held him down while still singing. The fan was apparently taken to the hospital and later died from bleeding in the brain 14 days later.
The very, very rough translation (provided by Google) of the portion of the report related to the incident reads: "Randy behaved exactly as I expected from him. [A] [f]ucker, who pisses everyone. This was confirmed by several pretty fired [up] few fans. [Randy was] [v]ery bothered ... when someone decided to visit the [stage]. Maybe the first one that got hit by Randy quite a bit, jumped after him and held him down while he continued singing."
"When the fan got up Randy took him by the hair and threw down quite quickly. Only thanks to the gentleman was so [dazed] [he] ... felt nothing. The second but ended up a shade worse, [it took] a little longer ... [to get his] breath back. That's enough to Randy, [who] does behave quite pretentious, but the performance was important [to him]."
More information on the incident will be posted as received.
