Death metal band Aurora Borealis has decided to make their entire discography available for free download. The band comments:
"There are tons of people out there can simply cannot afford to buy cds in these tough times. Of course we will still continue to sell hard copies of the CDs that are still available to those people who collect cds, or want the hard copies. I made this decision after the success we had from offering the new Timeline: The Beginning And End Of Everything cd as a free download. The response was overwhelming from people who appreciated the gesture. We hope our fans enjoy this. We know some of our first few albums are very hard to find and are pretty expensive. There are still people out there that do not feel right stealing or downloading an album illegally so we want to make it easy for them without breaking the law."
The following albums are available as high quality MP3s here:
TIMELINE: The Beginning And End Of Everything (2011)
TIME UNVEILED (2002)
NORTHERN LIGHTS (2000)
PRAISE THE ARCHAIC LIGHTS EMBRACE (1998)
MANSIONS OF ETERNITY (1996)
COVERING THE SKIES (Complilation of Cover Songs)

We've been talking with bands and fans everywhere to get their mosh pit stories. This week, Anders Johansson, drummer of Fullforce, shares the making of an interesting tradition at the band's shows:
Well, we are a new band with just a few gigs under our belt but one thing that has happened a few times now is that when we play our song "Wall of secrets" it seems the crowd think they should pour beer onto the guitar player Stefan Elmgren. Someone somewhere started it and and it has spread. We first got a bit annoyed, but the crowd seems to show their appreciation this way in that specific song. We don't have a clue why but as long as they are happy...so are we.
The Swedish five-piece consists of members Mike Andersson (Cloudscape, Vocals), Stefan Elmgren (ex-Hammerfall, Guitars), Anders Johansson (Hammerfall, ex-Yngwie J. Malmsteen, Drums), CJ Grimmark (ex-Narnia, Guitars) and Tommy Larsson (ex-Heed, Bass). Fullforce will release its debut album, "One," via SPV/Steamhammer on July 26th in North America. The band released the first music video for the song "Walls of Secrets" earlier this year.
Be sure to check back every Tuesday for more pit stories.

Swedish metal outfit In Flames have topped the German Media Control Chart with their latest studio album, "Sounds Of A Playground Fading," which also entered the German download chart at number nine. Antje Lange, Label Manager of Century Media states:
"We are more than happy about this amazing result and would like to thank everybody for their share in this huge success:
- a massive “thank you” goes out to you, the fans, who supported the band, believed in them and went out to buy the album. instead of just downloading it from the internet for free.
- all journalists who supported and featured the band.
- the whole team at Century Media who had to work overtime in order to achieve nothing, but simply the best.
- the whole team at EMI who worked hard on making this happen. More...

In a recent interview with RadioMetal.com, Tommy Vetterli, guitarist of reunited Swiss thrash metal outfit Coroner, revealed that the band has been recording shows for a future live album and also plan to release a career spanning DVD in the future. An excerpt from the interview reads as follows:
Q: You know, there are a lot of expectations from the fans, now that they have seen Coroner live…
A: "They want an album!"
Q: Absolutely! I met a few fans after your show and they were all on their knees, so blown away by what they saw and they were like 'man, they got a do an album after that!'
A: "Yeah, like I said before there are no plans. We might write one song or two and record and produce them. I actually want to do it but the other guys don’t want to do an album for now. I’ll have to try to convince them. I can’t do this without them. Besides, we’re working on a DVD with live stuff, new and old, interviews, etc. Then, yeah, we’ll see."
Q: And did you plan to record a show to release a live album?
A: "Yes. We recorded last night. Actually we record all the shows that we play and then we’ll compile them into a live album."

Brazilian metal legends Sepultura has posted the second part of their track by track breakdown for their new studio album, "Kairos" online. The group had this to say about the following songs:
5 - "Dialog"
On this song is like we are having a conversation with ourselves, looking inside, making a balance of all these years, the ups and downs of our career and life in general. A very honest look in the mirror, facing our weak and strong points, accepting certain things that cannot be changed and move forward always. Is a kind of a dark vibe in the music, with clean guitars and a speaking style vocals, then going to a heavy part with crushing double bass drumming.
6 - "Mask"
Here we attack the people from the internet, that have nicknames and they never show their faces, people that slay everybody without showing their credentials, hiding behind a mask to speak loud. The music I wrote on the road, on the A-Lex tour, the only one done like that, Jean have his recording gear with him and I play some riffs on the guitar, creating the structure for the song, very trash as well!

7 - "Seethe"
This song is a leftover from the “A-Lex” sessions, there were two songs that did not were on the album and one of them we decided to use it for this one. Is a very raw, violent song, that still resembles the vibes of the Clockwork Orange. We wrote an extra heavy slower part in the middle and re-recorded in the Kairos sessions, same studio but different era and a different producer. Is just pure trash with aggressive lyrics.
8 - "Born Strong"
A song to our families, then and now, moms, dads, sisters, brothers, grandmas, wifes and kids. Since the day we were born, taking care of our firsts steps in this world and showing the right path, education and love. Today we have our own families and that is what keeps us with motivation and strong, without them we are nothing. The music comes from a very old riff, when Derrick joined Sepultura, back in 97. He brought this riff that we hated at that time but now it worked out great. It was the right moment for it.
"Kairos" was released in Europe on June 24th and will be released in North America on July 12th. The album comes in a standard jewel case form, as well as a CD/DVD package which contains two bonus tracks.

New Orleans based metal supergroup Down will be releasing four EPs in the future according to guitarist Kirk Windstein. In a recent interview at the Hellfest festival in France, Windstein stated:
"We’re going to do four EPs, and they’ll all be different. We have many elements to our sound, so each one will have its own characteristics. Like, for example, this one we’re writing right now and are about to start recording will be really hard, with heavy Down stuff. Then we’ll have a mellow one, then a doom one - you know, slower and doomy stuff. A little bit of everything."
As to why the band chose to release four EPs instead of a full album, Kirk explains: "The record industry sucks so bad. Nobody buys anything. We’re trying to do something different, making it cheaper to buy. People want stuff for free! So six songs, its cheaper to buy. Same thing for downloading: it will be cheaper to download. Nobody wants to go to the record store and buy stuff anymore. So we're just trying to mix it up and do something different. It will be released on physical EP and digitally as well."

Every year, there seems to be that one metal album that incites vicious debates and extreme opinions. 2003 had Metallica’s “St. Anger;” 2008 was the year of Cryptopsy’s “The Unspoken King;” 2009 was all about 1349’s odd turn with “Revelations of the Black Flame.” This year is only halfway done, but the metal world has already found their whipping boy with Morbid Angel’s eighth album “Illud Divinum Insanus.”
The backlash on this record has been swift from metal fans. The album is split between more traditional fare and industrial/electronics monstrosities. This is the type of album that is meant to get a reaction out of the fickle metal community, and so far, it has done just that. Bassist/vocalist David Vincent rejoined Morbid Angel in 2004, and with “Illud Divinum Insanus” being the first Morbid Angel album with his involvement in over 15 years, the anticipation was off-the-charts for the “I” record.
I was offered the chance to speak to Vincent and grabbed the opportunity quickly. During our 40-plus minute interview, he was insightful and willing to answer every question I threw his way with no hesitation. Check out Vincent’s thoughts on the experimental nature of “Illud Divinum Insanus,” his reaction to all the criticism the record is getting, and a status update on Pete Sandoval. More...

You can check it out below. The record will be released through Nuclear Blast Records on July 1st in Europe and July 12th in North America. More...

This will be the first Anthrax album to feature all new material since 2003's, "We've Come For You All" and will be the group's first with vocalist Joey Belladonna since 1990's, "Persistence Of Time." The record will be released in Europe on September 12th through Nuclear Blast Records with a North American release via Megaforce Records to follow the next day.
American heavy metal outfit White Wizzard has seemingly parted company with lead singer Wyatt Anderson once again. This comes after Cellador singer Mike Germino was seen handling vocal duties for the band while they are on tour with thrash metal veterans Forbidden. A status from the band's Facebook page reads as follows:
"Wyatt Anderson wrote White Wizzard three weeks before tour and said he did not want to tour for personal, health and family reasons. This well after tour was booked and his flights. Mike has stepped in and is doing a stellar job. There will be a full press release soon. Ask Wyatt for further explanation."
Former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach will be filming two new music videos today to promote his forthcoming new solo album, "Kicking And Screaming," which will be released on September 27th through Frontiers Records. A message from Bach reads as follows:

We are actually going to have three videos, but one of them is mainly live in concert. So, we shoot twp concept videos tomorrow and then run through the third song to intersperse the live footage with studio video footage. It's gonna be a fun day. I really look forward to seeing Nick and Bobby again, those kooks! I am happy Frontiers Records is making good on their promise and we will actually have videos for this record! Right on!"
