Rap metal is a genre that has long been the subject of much criticism within the heavy metal community. Most fans when thinking of the term, tend to be reminded of the late '90s/early Century nu-metal genre and bands like Limp Bizkit. However, before the nu metal phase came into effect, there were a handful of bands that dared to mix heavy metal music with hip-hop frontmen, following the example set by Anthrax and Public Enemy.
One of the earliest of these bands was the Atlanta based Stuck Mojo, who could shred with the best and featured influences as wide as Black Sabbath to Run D.M.C. The group was formed in 1989 by guitarist Rich Ward and continued for a further six years before they were able to release their first full length album, "Snappin' Necks" in 1995 through Century Media Records. The band wasn't well received at first, with some critics labelling the band as Rage Against The Machine clones and even facing prejudice as a result of their African-American frontman Bonz. However, they were better received in Europe, where they won the MTV Europe Award for Best Live Act. The band released a second album the next year entitled, "Pigwalk" which, while not receiving many more favourable reviews, helped to expand their fan base across the globe. More...
Ft. Lauderdale, Flordia's Remembering Never have announced details regarding their upcoming new album, titled "This Hell Is Home". The album will be the band's first new release in four years and will be issued through Dead Truth Recordings. The band have also announced a select few concert dates to take place in July. Remembering Never have posted a new demo, titled "Time Eraser", via their myspace page.
Concert dates include:
July 10 – Pembroke Pines, FL @ The Talent Farm
July 21 - Augusta, GA @ Sector 7g
July 22 – Virginia Beach, VA @ Skate High (Awesomefest 2010)
July 23 - Allentown, PA @ Crocodile Rock Cafe/Cafe Under
July 24 – Fredericksburg, VA @ The Refuge
July 25 - Columbia, SC @ The Elbow Room
Remembering Never vocalist Pete Kowalsky commented by saying:
"The album will be released through Dead Truth Recordings (unless someone wants to give me a large suitcase full of crisp and clean $100 bills). We are still in the writing process but we have about 4 songs nailed down solid and about 5 more near completion. We wish we could make it a full U.S. tour but unfortunately jobs/school/responsibilities get in the way of a 40 day nonstop metalcore party and we simply cannot commit to an extensive run. We are going out for 5 days and bringing some good friends and solid bands. A very eclectic bunch. On the run is Forty Winters, My Amends with Hivemind and Dirty Habits on select dates. When we have free time from reality we will be fitting jam sessions in across the country.”

Canadian metallers Hoarfrost have checked in with the following update about upcoming activity after parting ways with their guitarist:
"Hails to the Frost Legion! These past six weeks have been a flurry of preparations and adaptations. Hoarfrost began in a dimly-lit basement a little over two and a half years ago, and after some early line-up changes, transformed into the quintet which have played 19 shows over the past 18 months together. It's been a journey so far.
"Brett was an integral part to that formula, and brought in much of (or most of) the original frameworks for our songs 'Rise ov Thor', 'Under the Bloody Banner', 'Tenebrous Entombment', 'In the Year ov Their Lord 1453' and others. His technical wizardry helped us record our EP The Cold Plains and his computer know-how has helped us with this MySpace page, many show posters and the album lay-out. In short, he's been as great of a band member as we ever could have asked for.
"As someone once said (and not to overuse a cliché), that all good things must come to an end, and thus with Brett departing, Hoarfrost's most recent era comes to a close. The last trio of shows have been an absolute tribute to what our vision has been for this band, with great performances, spectacular crowd interaction and some awesome bands to share the stage with. To everyone who has helped our experiences these past shows be so great: thank you. More...

It’s been an amazing experience and we’ve met so many great people, new friends and all this thanks to Mattey Magazine (with Roberto, Rafael, Jorge, Miztika and Leo at the helm), one of the best, top class organizers there is.
"We want to share some of the things that we experienced during our stay in Venezuela so you will be able to follow up on our stories through some blog posts like this one! Here comes Part I: We did not know much about Venezuela before coming there so we arrived on June 16 2010 to Simon Bolivar International Airport (CCS) with new eyes, ready for anything and everything. It turned out to be a good attitude because Venezuela is something completely new, different and unique. Mattey’s crew took care of us right from the start by taking us to our great hotel to get some rest from our long 13 hour travel. More...
