Several WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) superstars will be making appearances on this year's Ozzfest tour. You can view the current appearance schedule here.
WWE is one of the sponsors of the 2007 Ozzfest, which is the first time the event will be held as a free show.
Earlier in the month, tickets for all 24 shows were distributed to a frenzy of music fans. More than 428,000 tickets in all were given away through LiveNation.com, marking the largest number of free tickets distributed in the United States in the history of the concert business. In a staged release and via various sponsor sites, including Monster Energy, Jägermeister, FYE, Pilgrim Films, Hustler Lingerie and WWE, LiveNation.com enabled fans to enter exclusive codes to obtain tickets beginning Friday, June 8. More than 228,000 tickets were distributed on June 12 alone, with the last ticket given away just after midnight. The tickets were completely free without surcharges of any kind.
Pennsylvania's hardcore stalwarts THE MINOR TIMES have uploaded an e-card for the band's brand new album, 'Summer of Wolves,' hit stores June 26 through Prosthetic Records. The e-card features the album in its entirety and showcases the record's artwork.
In other THE MINOR TIMES news: "Relapse records is going to be releasing a limited edition 7" with us and our friends Rosetta," the band says. "The record will feature two brand new tracks from us not available anywhere else. If you're not familiar with Rosetta, head over to their page [http://www.myspace.com/rosetta], those guys are incredible. Needless to say, we're pretty floored to have a record coming out on Prosthetic and a 7" on Relapse with a great band."
In addition, THE MINOR TIMES recently parted ways with guitarist Lou Millinghausen on good terms. "Lou has been playing with us for some time now and was instrumental in the song writing process for 'Summer of Wolves," the band previously said. "We love the guy to death and will miss him a lot. Instead of searching for a replacement, we've simply decided that Tim will now handle all the guitar duties in the band. We have been practicing with this arrangement for over a month now and feel very comfortable with the idea of presenting it everywhere this entire summer. We've got a ton of shows coming up followed by four weeks of tour with our good friends Engineer."
The release of 'Summer of Wolves,' is the follow-up to 'Making Enemies,' which saw a 2004 release via Level Plane Records and was re-released in 2005 through Prosthetic Records. Producer Vince Ratti (Bury Your Dead, A Life Once Lost) returned again to record the record with the band to record the new record last winter and will be mastered by Alan Douches (Shadows Fall, Converge).

King Diamond was forced to postpone his previously announced fall 2007 European tour after he was diagnosed with a herniated disc in the spine and prescribed absolute rest for several months. Failure to follow the doctors orders will cause irreparable damage to his spine, and for obvious reasons, there is no way he can go on tour and perform, with all the travel and physical activities this would include. The U.s. tour will not be affected by this.
a new audio interview with King Diamond, conducted by "The Governor's Ball", has been made available for download at this location.
a brand new King Diamond song, entitled "Never Ending Hill", is available for free download at this location. The track comes off the group's long-awaited new album, "Give Me Your Soul ... German progressive metallers DREAMSCAPE have parted ways with Roland Stoll (vocals), Benno Schmidtler (bass) and Jan Vacik (keyboards). "We do point out, that we disband in agreement, with the greatest respect to each other and in deep friendship," the band writes on its web site. "We have experienced a lot together, had a fantastic time, gave a lot of awesome shows and produced fantastic albums. Most of it was only possible because of you, our fans, so thank you so much for all your support! Roland, Benno and Jan will leave DREAMSCAPE because of private affairs. They will reach out for different interests and projects, but a part of them will always be with DREAMSCAPE. Wolfgang Kerinnis (guitar) and Michael Schwager (drums) will continue DREAMSCAPE with a new lineup und for sure with the best prog metal you can get. Detailed info about the new lineup will follow as soon as possible."
DREAMSCAPE's new album, "5th Season", is scheduled for release on August 24. The CD artwork can be viewed at this location.
Veteran shock rockers W.A.S.P. have been forced to cancel their previously announced U.S. tour (which included ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY on many of the dates) due to its North American label losing its distribution, according to a posting on the band's web site. The tour will be rescheduled to a later undisclosed date.
W.A.S.P.'s latest album, "Dominator" (Demolition Records), recently entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 72.
Simon Milburn of The Metal Forge recently conducted an interview with drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott (Hellyeah, ex-Pantera, Damageplan). A few excerpts from the chat follow:
On the chemistry in Hellyeah:
"Oh, I think the thing that really made this band click from the start was the fact that everybody came into it with no egos. We really left all that behind and everybody came into it with a lot of mutual respect for each other for what we've all done with our previous bands. The main focus that we've all said from day one was that this has got to be fun or we shouldn't even be doing it. I think that really came through in the music, and it's something that really sparked the whole thing."
On Hellyeah's sound:
"i think it just developed (its own sound). It took on a life of its own. I don't think we had to focus on that at all. I think it really does sound like its own band and its own entity. It wasn't anything that we really had to strive for. Everybody brought what they do to the table and we put it all together to make the new sound."
On how Hellyeah's self-titled album has been received:
"i think it's really, really, really struck a nerve with the fans. We're over 125,000 units here in the States, we debuted at number 9 on Billboard, our record is at number three at rock radio, so it's really, man, taken on a great life of its own. The fans have really embraced it. The shows that we've done so far have been a total blast. I had no idea that they were gonna come out and chant ?Hellyeah!' every night before the show. We just got back from England. We played this huge, er, I guess they call it Donington Download festival now, over 100,000 people and the fans over there treated us absolutely fantastic. I know we're gonna have a great time in Australia and New Zealand as well. . . I think all of us in the band really believe that it was something special and something that could go a long way, but it definitely impressed Epic Records and other people that are a part of it. They really thought that we were gonna be lucky to move 20,000 units in that first week and we moved 46,000. So we really way out did their expectations, so that was a nice feeling for sure."
On whether he had any hesitation about taking the stage again each night:
"Nah, man. I love playing, I love the audience reaction, I love the feeling of being on stage ? that's something that I'm so comfortable with. Like I said, the thing that happened on December 8 has never happened in the history of music and I pray that it never happens again to anybody. I just think that security at most venues is definitely better now and I feel comfortable up there playing."
On Hellyeah's next release:
"We're working on our first Dvd right now. We're recording all the live shows and all the crazy antics that go on back stage. So probably around the end of the year, Christmas time, we'll have our first Dvd ready for release. Then, we've got this Family Values Tour lined up that we're gonna be a part of all summer long, that's with Korn and several other bands, so we got our plate full right now, man. We're gonna go, go, go and when it comes time for us to take a break, Mudvayne will get back to doing their thing, and two years from now, we'll all get back together and do Hellyeah part two."
According to Brazil's Bizz magazine, the as-yet-unnamed new project featuring Sepultura founding members and brothers Max and Igor Cavalera will enter a Los Angeles studio in July to begin recording its debut album for a late 2007/early 2008 release via Roadrunner Records. Although it has not yet been confirmed, it is rumored that production duties on the Cd will be handled by former Machine Head/Soulfly guitarist Logan Mader, who worked with Soulfly on their cover of Marilyn Manson's "Beautiful People" for the recently released Kerrang! magazine compilation "Higher Voltage". The project, which will coexist with Max's main band Soulfly, is expected to include guest appearances by Soulfly guitarist Marc Rizzo and other, as-yet-undisclosed musicians. While the bulk of the album will be recorded in Los Angeles, a possibility exists that two or three songs will be tracked in Brazil, according to Max, who described the new music as "hardcorish."
In a recent interview posted on Soulfly's official web site, Max stated about his collaboration with Igor. "This project is going to be very much like a volcano exploding. We've had so much anger and aggression building up, and I know that Igor is going to fucking destroy the drum kit in the studio. I really doubt the drum kit will even survive the recording, and I hope it doesn't. So far it's sounding very aggressive, but again, at this point there are no rules or limitations with it. It's going to be mainly just me and Igor, but I want to have some other guys involved with it. It's going to be similar to Nailbomb in that it's only two guys, some friends, and one album, but it's definitely going to have its own style. It's metal Cavalera style, and it's the closest thing that anyone's going to get to seeing any type of reunion. I don't know what the fuck is going to happen with it, but I'm very excited to see where it goes and what we can do."
Igor Cavalera left Sepultura in June 2006 due to "artistic differences." He has since been replaced by Jean Dolabella (ex-Udora).
Igor's departure from Sepultura came five months after he announced that he was taking a break from the group's touring activities to spend time with his second wife and their new son (who was born in January 2006). Filling in on drums during the band's spring 2006 European tour with In Flames was Roy Mayorga, who played with Max in Soulfly for several years in the late '90s and again in 2001-2003.
Max Cavalera left Sepultura in December 1996 after the rest of the band fired his wife Gloria as the group's manager.
Valentino Rossi (the Michael Schumacher of bike racing) is firmly placing the blame for his poor performance at the Donington GP on the shoulders of Maiden and the other bands who played the Download festival on the circuit a couple of weeks previously!
"Then there is the annual Download rock festival, which took place at the circuit a fortnight ago with thousands of heavy metal fans flocking to the venue. Blaming Iron Maiden and Megadeth was certainly on the agenda of Rossi, whose charge for a podium place was hampered by a deteriorating rear tyre. He finished fourth.
Rossi said: "We spoke to the Safety Commission. The surface here was done just three years ago, so it is not old. They resurfaced because they had a lot of bumps, but maybe the problem is not the aeroplanes but the concert of Marilyn Manson. They put the hot dog stand on the track, so maybe the oil is not very good for the grip."
Cooking oil, not engine oil, that is. Stoner's problems were confined to the start. As he hit the throttle, his bike skidded on one of the painted grid lines and a stream of bikes overtook him."
British extremists AKERCOCKE have posted this message on their official website:
"AKERCOCKE announce a special show at the Underworld, London on August 4. This will be the much discussed and previously scuppered 10-year anniversary show.
We've decided finally to go ahead and mark the 10th year of the band's existence with a unique show that will feature a lot of unusual material as well as some classic blasters. Older songs that have seldom seen an airing. Some that haven't been heard live for many years or ever. We will be filming the show for an anniversary live album/DVD to be released later in the year on Goat Of Mendes Records.
Support for this special event will be provided by KINGSIZE BLUES, TED MAUL and BREED APART.
This message has been posted on ANNIHILATOR's official website:
"Jeff (Waters) tells us that he is talking with Riot (their Australian label) about possibly coming there in late September. Apparently there is a deadline for Australia and some other territories to come on board by next week. We will have news here first, if this happens!"
In addition, some pre-tour rehearsal video footage of ANNIHILATOR drummer Alex Landenburg practicing the band's track "Set The World On Fire" has been posted on YouTube. More...

Jesse Capps from RockConfidential.com recently conducted an interview with TESTAMENT vocalist Chuck Billy. Here are some extracts from the conversation:
RockConfidential.com: What's touring looking like this year?
Chuck Billy: "We've got a few shows in July. We're gonna finish writing. We've got a few shows scattered through September. Between touring we'll be getting in the studio getting the record done."
RockConfidential.com: How many songs do you have right now?
Chuck Billy: "We have eight or nine. Alex (Skolnick - guitar) has a few himself. The hardest thing is none of us live near each other. Alex lives in New York, Nick (Barker - drums) lives in England, Eric (Peterson - guitar) lives about two and a half hours from me. Whenever we get together it's like this big, orchestrated plan. It's been working out really good. We've been rehearsing at my house. Everybody's been flying in and staying for the weekend. We live and write and breathe the songs all weekend long."
RockConfidential.com: I'm sure that keeps you on your toes, too. You probably don't waste much time while you're all together.
Chuck Billy: "We only practice a couple of hours a day if we meet at a studio. At the house we'll take a break and work on the record and then take another break and then work on the record. We're working on it all day and night as opposed to two or three hours in a studio. It works better because we keep focused on what we're doing."
RockConfidential.com: It's been eight years since the last studio record. I'm really anxious and curious to hear the new stuff. You could really do anything now...
Chuck Billy: "I really like the way 'The Gathering' record turned out. To me, vocally, it's got everything I imagined for vocals. I used about three different tones of voices. It added more life and dynamics to me. That's the direction we'll go vocally. The music is very heavy but it's very catchy. Eric's got some really catchy riffs. The vocals are real melodic with some catchy hooks. It's really heavy. It's something new. Nick, coming from a Black Metal background, is adding that spark that we needed. It's a fresh breath of life to our writing. In the past couple of years we've written some songs but they weren't up to par with 'The Gathering'. Those songs just went in the trash. We just started over when Nick came into the picture. We're on a roll and the songs are turning out really good."
RockConfidential.com: What about lyrically this time around?
Chuck Billy: "It's gonna be covering a lot of stuff, things we've experienced in life. Especially my illness, the cancer, and what I went through. I had some healing sessions and did a lot of sweat lodges with some Indians and medicine men. I'm sure I'll be talking about my experiences with the medicine men. My father and Eric's father both passed away within the past couple of years. The war in Iraq. We'll be talking about those issues. It's things that people deal with in everyday life. We've gone away from the cliche gloom and doom lyrics, the typical Heavy Metal lyrics."

RAGING SPEEDHORN guitarist Gareth Smith has posted this message on the band's MySpace page:
"We're playing our first ever show on the Isle Of Man (in England) on July 7 and since I guess not many people from the mainland will make it over and the venue is really small. Anyhoo, the good people putting the show together are streaming the show live!
You can catch the show online from around 8.30pm on the night. Supporting us will be AGE OF KINGS and BLACK ORCHID.
So, if you're not coming to us then we're coming to you. Get yourself a 12 pack and enjoy!!!"

Zonda Books has posted this press release:
Garry Sharpe-Young's latest book, "Thrash Metal", is being readied for publication this September. In addition, Zonda Books publishes Garry's "Death Metal", "Black Metal" and "Power Metal" all before the end of the year. These MusicMight titles replace the 2001 editions, which have consistently ranked number 1 on their Amazon.com searches for five years and more.
Thrash Metal. At first mocked by the Rock traditionalists Thrash would swamp the hard n' heavy world propelling one of its own - METALLICA, to the very pinnacle of Rock's elite.
In the early 80s Thrash breathed new life into the Rock scene providing older acts with a much needed kick. This new force opened the floodgates to armies of teens armed with flying Vs, bullet belts and a sense of purpose that would fuel genres such as Thrashcore, Crossover and technical Speed Metal. Without Thrash there would be no Death Metal, no Black Metal. That explosion of aggression has seen subsequent afterblasts, most recently Europe and South America has seen a genuine renaissance of Thrash Metal.
Without doubt, Thrash Metal still continues to make its mark in the biggest possible way. The "big four" - METALLICA, MEGADETH, ANTHRAX and SLAYER are all documented here in the greatest possible detail with full, up to the minute histories, exclusive photographs and global discographies, which include demos, albums, singles, chart positions, track listings and catalogue numbers. Over 400,000 words leave no stone left unturned in pursuit of knowledge of ex-members, rare recordings and career milestones. The author has interviewed all these major acts. Indeed, he interviewed METALLICA's late Cliff Burton just days before his passing. The early days of MEGADETH are straight from the mouth of Dave Mustaine.
Also covered are the legion of groundbreaking Bay Area acts such as METAL CHURCH, TESTAMENT, EXODUS, DEATH ANGEL and HIRAX. The European thrash explosion of KREATOR, RAGE, DESTRUCTION, SODOM, GRAVE DIGGER and HELLOWEEN is also covered in frightening detail. The Pagan Thrash of SABBAT, the avant garde eccentricity of CELTIC FROST and the Funk Thrash of MORDRED - it's all here. The second wave of thrash with major artists such as SEPULTURA, PANTERA and MACHINE HEAD takes the genre right up to the new breed of Thrashers, now a truly world-wide phenomenon. All examined in depth.
Having achieved its quarter of a century, Thrash Metal is not only alive, it is thriving. If you thought this rawest form of Heavy Metal was consigned to the past this book will deliver a rude awakening! Read the book, buy the records and bang that head!!
The scope of 'Thrash Metal' includes artists such as A.N.I.M.A.L., ABANDONED, ABATTOIR, ACCUSSER, ACID, ACID DRINKERS, ACID REIGN, ACROPHET, AFTERMATH, AGENT STEEL, AGONY, AGRESSOR, AIRDASH, AMEBIX, ANESTHESY, ANGEL WITCH, ANGKOR WAT, ANNIHILATOR, ANTHRAX, ANVIL, ANVIL CHORUS, APOKALYPTIC RAIDS, ARBITRATER, ARCH ENEMY, ARMORED SAINT, ARMOURED ANGEL, ARTILLERY, ASSASSIN, AT WAR, ATHEIST, ATOMIZER, ATOMKRAFT, ATROPHY, AZOTIC REIGN...
And that's just some of the "A"'s!
Polish extreme Metal titans BEHEMOTH invade U.S. shores early next month with only one mission in mind, to annihilate the masses at Ozzfest all summer long. The group secured the direct support, non-rotating slot right before second stage headliners HATEBREED, so fans can expect a lengthy set backed with their biggest stage production yet. Their new album, "The Apostasy", is set for a July 17 release.
BEHEMOTH will also perform a series of off-dates alongside LAMB OF GOD, HATEBREED and 3 INCHES OF BLOOD. See below for their complete summer touring itinerary. The band is also this week's featured artist on MTV News' Metal File. Check it out to see Nergal's response to possibly being banned from performing in their hometown.
Nergal (vocals, guitars) states: "The Ozzfest countdown has officially started! We couldn't be more excited. We've been busy making all the necessary preparations for months now and are bringing one hell of a show this time. We are going to have a 30-min set, but we'll make sure to expose the band the best we can. This is by far the biggest production we've ever had in U.S. We're bringing our own crew, new stage gear and most importantly a new album. Expect nothing but insanity!
I feel that Ozzfest is going to be the peak of our career and treat it as a great reward for all the hard work, all the effort we put into this band throughout the years. I'm perfectly aware that it's all thanks to the thousands of fans who brought us to this place. This tour will be a great occasion to pay them back for all their loyalty and devotional faith. You will hear songs spanning our entire career and we decided to do 50 shows to warm up before we go on Ozzfest. I wanted to make sure that people witness BEHEMOTH at our very best. We are ready to bring extreme and dangerous music to the masses."
While most bands struggle to evolve and stay vital within the extreme music genre, BEHEMOTH manages to do so effortlessly. "The Apostasy" is destined to continue the legacy.
Here are the band's upcoming tour dates: More...
SOULFLY bassist Bobby Burns has posted this message on the band's official website:
"Wow... shit; I've been SO fucking busy. On the PRIMER55 front, I just signed a deal with Crash Music Inc., and we'll be re-releasing the very first P55 record 'As Seen On TV'. It's going to be a CD/DVD type of thing, and it should be really cool. I have a band with Eric Rogers (ex-STEREOMUD vocalist) and Frank Fonserain (ex-STUCK MOJO drummer) called LOVE SAID NO. I've been bouncing back and forth from Atlanta to here in Orlando for that. We recorded at my studio, The Porch, and I couldn't be happier with it! Our MySpace and all that shit will be up before I head out once again with SOULFLY for Europe. I also just posted a few tunes that I did for my side project with Billy Keeton (ex-SKRAPE vocalist) and Will Hunt (Tommy Lee, DARK NEW DAY drummer), and you can find that over at MySpace.
Other than that, I'm just gearing up for Europe, and I'm excited as hell to get to work on the new SOULFLY record!!!!!! It's gonna be fuckin' sick."
"For those who don't know, PRIMER55 was Bobby's main musical outlet before he joined SOULFLY full-time in 2003. The band formed in 1997, became a staple for the Rapcore scene following their first two releases, toured with a bunch of quality bands, and sold a couple hundred thousand albums. After 2001, PRIMER55 ceased to play together and it was unclear whether they would work with each other as a band again. However, in the last year, Bobby and PRIMER55 vocalist Jason began to write some music again, and just last week they announced that the project has recently signed to Crash Music Inc. Their first release through the label will be a two-disc digipack consisting of an audio CD featuring a collection of unreleased tracks and a DVD of rare concert footage. For more information go to MySpace.
Bobby will be joining the crew at All Knowing Force tonight, Tuesday June 26, for a live interview that will be broadcast for free online at AllKnowingForce.com at 10PM EST! Among other things, they will be discussing the resurrection of PRIMER55 and the happenings of SOULFLY, so tune in. Listeners are often encouraged to call on the studio line during the show to ask questions directly; to ask a question to Bobby call All Knowing Force at (347) 410-9416 or message via IM (AIM) to 'allknowingforce' during the show tonight."

NEVERMORE vocalist Warrel Dane has posted this message on the band's official forum:
"The recording (of the debut solo album) will start pretty soon, but since I have NEVERMORE shows coming up in August Pete (Peter Wichers - ex-SOILWORK) can get this thing going and I'll end up doing vox on my off time from NEVERMORE shows, Matt's (Wicklund - ex-HIMSA) songs are killer as well... I just have to take a step back sometimes and say to myself '...fuck I'm lucky to get to jam with these killer songwriters...'.
On another note, Jeff (Loomis - NEVERMORE guitarist) just gave me a new song to work on and it fucking crushes! Since all my solo songs have been pretty much finished for some time I'm working hard on the new NEVERMORE stuff, and man Jeff is kicking some major ass!
More info later..."
SOILWORK guitarist Ola Frenning has posted this message on the band's official website:
"Peter (Wildoer - DARKANE drummer) and I just finished the mix of the last song, which means, the new SOILWORK album is done. All I can say, it sounds excellent... great sound, great playing and a good mix of songs. I'm very happy to have an album in my CD collection. that no one else has... yet!

Richmond's thrash monsters MUNICIPAL WASTE recently recorded an explosive session for the BBC Radio 1's "Punk Show with Mike Davies", which aired on this past Tuesday night's show. The band recorded an exclusive new track, entitled "Boner City", which was written and recorded at Maida Vale studios and which describes the group's feelings after being on tour for five weeks. They also laid down the songs "Headbanger Face-Rip" and "Sadistic Magician" from the group's new album, "The Art of Partying" (out now in Europe), and a cover of S.O.D.'s "United Forces".

Bay Area thrash titans Exodus are revealed to be hard at work on a new album, founding guitarist Gary Holt commented, "Rehearsing about seven hours a day right now, busting our asses as [producer] Mr. [Andy] Sneap (Arch Enemy, Kreator, Testament, Opeth) will arrive on June 3 and into the studio we go. Eleven songs done as of now, as sick as fuck. Everyone always talks about how their next record is the next this or that, all I'm going to say is this next record is a crushing landmark in Exodus history. I am stoked. Truly. I'm not giving out the title (or titles) right now, so you'll have to wait and be patient! But man, this new shit is aggressive with a capital A! Thrash metal at its hardest."
Schoft, guitarist with Dutch death metallers Brutus is reported to have joined black metal powerhouse Satyricon. More news on this as the story develops.

'Dark Passion Play', the forthcoming album from titanic goth metallers Nightwish is one of the most expensive ever produced in Finland.
"The final cost of the album was around 500,000 euros [approximately $670,000]," stated band leader Tuomas Holopainen. "We didn't make any compromises that were money-related. Nothing was held back so there is nothing we could've done better."
Bulk of the recording was done at London's legendary Abbey Road Studios with a full orchestra
The following update was posted on KING DIAMOND’s official site:
“Most regretfully I have to inform you that the KING DIAMOND Europe tour will have to be postponed. King has over the past month and a half, been suffering from severe pain in his back, and following several visits to doctors, specialists and most recently an MRI-scan; he has been diagnosed a herniated disc in the spine, and prescribed absolute rest for several months. Failure to follow the doctors orders, will cause irreparable damage to his spine, and for obvious reasons there is no way he can go on tour and perform, with all the travel and physical activities this would include. We expect King to recover fully after a prolonged period of rest, and we are determined to re-schedule the tour dates, not cancel the tour. Further details of the re-schedule of the Europe tour will be given here as soon as possible. Since we will need some time to reschedule, the ticket’s already purchased will be refunded the way this is usually done. Don’t rush the ticket issuer right away; give it a few days – they only got this information today – some might not know till tomorrow! The US-tour will not be affected by this. All should be well by early 2008.”

Irish pagan metallers Primordial are about to enter the studio in Wales to record their new album. Vocalist AA Nemtheanga commented, "The themes have moved on from the last album (they are also becoming more expansive and perhaps less desperate then the last album) and right now I’m beginning to piece together some ideas for the artwork with Paul from Scald who made 'The Gathering Wilderness' look so special. It will look incredible I can guarantee that and will be an absolutely pure artistic statement in this day and age of hollow, plastic meaningless Metal covers. This of course goes for the music as well without saying!
A couple of other Primordial releases are planned. Ireland's Sentinel Records will be releasing the picturedisc of 'The Gathering Wilderness', No Sign Of Life from Finland will be releasing 'Dark Romanticism' and Black Ace from Holland will be releasing 'Storm Before Calm'. Also planned are splits with both Desaster and Rotting Christ.
Nemtheanga will also be releasing a 7" from his new project Plagued, more information can be found at the official website:
Monumentum Records, the extreme metal imprint of European hardcore label Reflections Records, will be re-releasing two seminal records, Possessed 'Seven Churches' and Exodus 'Bonded By Blood'. Both limited to 500 copies, they'll be out later on in the year on luxurious gatefold vinyl.
Coheed And Cambria frontman Claudio Sanchez tells Kerrang! that they've recruited Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins to play drums on their new album, following the departure of Josh Eppard in November 2006.
The band are busy recording the snappily-titled 'No World For Tomorrow', their follow-up to 2005's 'Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness' with producer Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters) at The Path studios, Hollywood.
"Taylor's actually brought a tremendous amount to the band," says Sanchez. "He's an interesting drummer in the fact that he's a songwriter, so when he's playing the drums he's not thinking of it as 'Oh, I'm a drummer, how flashy can I be?', he's really 'What is going to add to this song and make it the strongest it can possibly be?' So it's definitely a new take on that part of the band and I think it really works well."
'No World For Tomorrow' will be released in the autumn.
The headliners of the 2007 edition of the Bloodstock Open Air festival LACUNA COIL and IN FLAMES have commented on their participation in this year's event, which is scheduled to be held August 16-18 at Catton Hall in Derbyshire, England.
Said IN FLAMES bassist Peter Iwers: "Playing Bloodstock this year is a first time experience for us and itÂ’s hard to know what to expect, so we try to stay as relaxed as possible. We'll just get there and do our best and hope for a magnificent audience.
"Having played the U.K. before, we all know that the crowds always rock and we hope to see all the British IN FLAMES fans and their friends at the show. Also it's going to be a blast playing with such good friends as the guys in DARK TRANQUILITY, LACUNA COIL, ARCH ENEMY, etc”.
IN FLAMES is currently in pre-production for its new album, which is scheduled for release next year. The CD will be recorded in the newly built IF studios. The band is also playing various festivals in Europe this summer along with two shows supporting heavy metal giants IRON MAIDEN.
LACUNA COIL frontman Andrea Ferro had the following to say regarding his band's headlining appearance on the Friday night at Bloodstock Open Air: "Our last tour in the U.K. was a blast and it is about time for us to come back and have a great fucking time at the Bloodstock festival! It's our first appearance and we are really thrilled to see some of the old friends and a lot of new people. We will be ready to rock that stage and we expect the same from you guys. See ya there!!"
A video interview with LACUNA COIL's Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro, conducted by metal personality Metal Sanaz prior to the Italian band's recent headlining show in Los Angeles, has been posted at this location.
According to fan reports, TYPE O NEGATIVE's appearance at the U.K.'s Birmingham Academy on Wednesday, June 20 was delayed by over an hour and concluded after a mere 40 minutes, followed by intense booing by a disappointed, capacity crowd.
The management representative's official statement reads as follows:
"[Wednesday] night Peter [Steele, bass/vocals] got off of the bus not able to breathe properly due to the mold in the back lounge. He went straight to hotel. When the runner arrived to pick him up, I was told that he had to get someone to go up to room with him and that Peter was semi-conscious. He was having severe breathing problems. He managed to get to the venue — and was on time — but upon his arrival and seeing his condition, I immediately asked for the paramedics to attend to him. The paramedic administered oxygen and were concerned enough that there was discussion of bringing a doctor onsite. They also called for two other paramedics to consult, which resulted in more delay of stage time.
"Towards the end of set, Peter took his normal break but was still feeling very bad and the break went longer than usual. The bottle thrown at the end is a regular thing that Peter does, it was tossed gently to a fan in the crowd and not done or meant with any malintent or malice towards the audience."
There has been no statement by any members of the band at this time.
According to U.K.-based music journalist Dave Ling, IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson's film about occult legend Aleister Crowley (infamous as "the wickedest man in the world") will shortly go into production, with Simon Callow of "Amadeus", "Shakespeare in Love" and, appropriately, "The Phantom of the Opera" — set for the title role. "Dickinson has spent 12 years working on this project, and is understandably thrilled to get it moving at last," says Ling.
The movie is reportedly about a professor in an English university, who, after a failed experiment, becomes obsessed with Crowley's soul. Crowley himself was very much into red-haired women, and the professor becomes enchanted by a very beautiful, red-haired student.
A brand new H.I.M. track, entitled "Passion's Killing Floor", is available for streaming at the H-I-M666.com web site (click on "Passion's Killing Floor" in the album track listing to start audio).
"Passion's Killing Floor" will be included on the soundtrack album to Michael Bay's "Transformers", due on July 3 via Warner Bros. The disc will feature a total of 12 tracks, nine of which are brand new and exclusive to the soundtrack.
H.I.M. recently finished mixing its sixth studio album, "Venus Doom", at Paramount Studios in Hollywood, California. Once again, the band entered the studio with producer/mixer Tim Palmer (TIN MACHINE, THE CURE, THE HOUSE OF LOVE, NED'S ATOMIC DUSTBIN). The Los Angeles newspaper The Rockit reported earlier in the month, "At a recent listening session, it became apparent to one Rockit staffer that 'Venus Doom' is quite a departure from the band's last effort, 'Dark Light'. The moody pop of the previous album has given way to more expansive tracks led by thunderous guitar crunches. Yes, the synthesizer embellishments and SISTERS OF MERCY-esque melodies still remain, but this time they are pushed further into the background. Standout numbers include the prog-tinged 'Kiss of Dawn' and 'Sleepwalking Past Hope', a near-epic piece with a spine-tingling bridge."
Due in North America on September 18, "Venus Doom" will feature the following tracks:
01. Venus Doom
02. Love in Cold Blood
03. Passion's Killing Floor
04. Kiss of Dawn
05. Sleepwalking Past Hope
06. Dead Lover's Lane
07. Song or Suicide
09. Cyanide Sun
H.I.M. filmed a new video last week in the Los Angeles area. Directing the clip was Meiert Avis, who has previously worked with U2, AVRIL LAVIGNE, JENNIFER LOPEZ and BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, in addition to helming H.I.M.'s "Wings of a Butterfly" video.
Swedish heavy metal rockers Wolf are to make their third visit to the UK in 2007 to perform at the Hard Rock Hell Fest in Minehead.
Dutch progressive metallers TEXTURES have issued the following update:
"Due to personal reasons, our bass player Dennis [Aarts] has decided to leave the band and focus on his personal life for a while. We're surely going to miss him! We wish him tons of luck in all his future endeavors and thank him for all these years of fun, crazy heavy music and crushing the stage with us. We're currently in the process of finding a new bass player. Michel 'MuD' Quak will temporarily replace Dennis during the upcoming CYNIC show and U.K. tour. We'll keep you posted.
"In September we will continue writing our new album, which we hope to start recording in November. We set our minds to a 2008 spring release, of course, followed by a big number of new shows to support the new material. We can't wait to crush you all with new songs!"
TEXTURES' latest album, "Drawing Circles", was released in April 2006 via France's Listenable Records. The band's self-produced debut CD, "Polars", was originally issued through the group's own label and was later re-released through Listenable.
NEVERMORE bassist Jim Sheppard will be forced to miss the band's July 7 appearance at the Evolution Festival in Firenze, Italy due to scheduling conflicts. Replacing him at the gig will be ARMORED SAINT/FATES WARNING bassist Joey Vera.
Commented NEVERMORE frontman Warrel Dane: "Jim's not dying, Jim is fine, he just has some things he needs to take care of during that week. He will play all the other scheduled festival dates. And it will be pretty cool to jam onstage with Joey. Glad he's able to do that!"
Jim Sheppard last year missed a number of NEVERMORE shows after undergoing a minor procedure for Crohn's Disease, a condition he's managed for over 15 years. Filling in for Sheppard was longtime friend James MacDonough (ex-MEGADETH, ICED EARTH). More...

The Marrow of a Bone is their sixth album since 1997, and follows on an extremely successful "Withering To Death", released in 2005 and now up for distribution in the United States and Europe.
