New Jersey progressive metal band Ferox Canorus has posted their entire debut EP for streaming on their MySpace page.
The band comments, "After a long year of line up changes, set backs and technical difficulties the EP has finally seen the light of day. The Break of Dawn EP marks the beginning of a new chapter for Ferox Canorus as we are finally able to move forward. A lot of hard work has gone into this: the album is recorded, mixed and mastered ENTIRELY by the band. Though the album art and such has yet to be designed, we decided to stream the album from our online sites (Myspace and Facebook) until the actual album is ready for sale. Thanks to everyone involved in helping this project come into fruition. Here's to what may come."
Upcoming Ferox Canorus shows are as follows:
July 03 - Muralhas Underground - Newark, New Jersey

The Cleansing has issued the following update
"It's about time we let you in on some news regarding our new yet untitled 2nd album!"
"Toke is - as we speak - laying down vocal tracks for this slap of brutality that will be our next punch in the face! He's been doing a great job so far - it sounds KILLER! The drums were recorded in February at CB studios in Denmark - needless to say Morten did an amazing job recording the drums! Expect nothing but over-the-top drumming! We still need to record a lot of guitar stuff but plan to get all guitars, solos and bass done by mid-August."
"On another note - we are glad to welcome our new bass player Mads Haarløv (Iniquity, Strangler, Sacrificial, Swollen). We are very excited to start working with Mads!" More...
Topeka, Kansas death metal act Diskreet have issued a statement in regards to their new album, titled "Engage the Mechanicality". The album is due for release later in the year through Siege of Amida and Candlelight Records.
The band commented by saying:
"There are many things that could be said by us from everything that’s gone on since we started writing this record, but there’s only one thing that really matters to mention: that being that our upcoming full-length, ‘Engage the Mechanicality’ has been completed, and fully mixed and mastered. Thanks to the genius of Dave Otero, this thing has turned out greater than we ever thought possible. To call the time line to completion a ‘process’ is a vast understatement.
Siege of Amida has received the masters, and we’ll have release dates, artwork, new tracks, new design layout and tour dates for you in the near future. Thanks for sticking around with us for this long and being patient, we appreciate all of the support!"

Ozzy Osbourne appeared on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" with host Bob Coburn Monday night. During the appearance Ozzy shed light on the nature of his current relationship with Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi, following a recently settled lawsuit over the use of the Black Sabbath name.
In response to a callers question, Osbourne revealed the last time he spoke to Iommi. Osbourne said " I spoke to Mr. Iommi just the day after Ronnie James Dio's funeral." Osbourne went on to say "I'm going to England tomorrow and I hope to meet up with him and have a chat with him about old times."
Ozzy also blasted the Westboro Baptist church's protest of Ronnie James Dio's Funeral. "I thought it was in such bad taste that those people had those banners about Ronnie James Dio. That's disgusting. They say that we're the anti-christ, well what makes them any better?"

A Papa Roach greatest-hits album is hitting the stores in a few days. But the band is telling fans not to buy it.
Papa Roach posted a statement on its official website June 24 that its former record label, Interscope/Geffen, is releasing "To Be Loved: Best of Papa Roach" without its consent. The quartet is particularly incensed that the album's June 29 release date coincides with the act touring in support of its new album, "Time for Annihilation," which is arriving Aug. 31 through its current label, Eleven Seven Music.
"Since our fans have always stood behind us, we want to let you in on a little behind the scenes bullshit going on with our ex record label," the band writes, claiming that it has made the label a lot of money only to be rewarded with "all the bullshit broken promises that they have fed us time and time again." However, the members make clear that their anger isn't directed "at the staff of people that busted their ass for Papa Roach at that label for years on a ground level . . . It is directed towards the people at the top who make the decisions."
Papa Roach wraps up its current U.S. tour July 1. It then heads to Europe to perform a slate of festival dates through Aug. 15.

Athens, Ohio's blackened thrash warlords Skeletonwitch will start July by doing some of their own shows en route to Vancouver, BC, where they'll meet up with High On Fire for a cross Canadian trek. The tour will culminate with the band appearing at the Heavy MTL festival in Montreal, along with Slayer, Alice Cooper, Megadeth, Mastodon, and more. The band will then head out with Ozzfest where they'll be appearing on the second stage along with former tour partners Goatwhore and Saviious, and other acts.
Guitarist Scott Hedrick commented on the band's plans; "Just when you thought Skeletonwitch couldn't get any heavier we're going to eat a metric ton of bread, cheese, and beer in Europe! Fuck yes! We're heading across the pond w/ Warbringer and are being joined by Angelus Apatrida. It'll be a true 'European Bangover.' Of course, that is directly following the juggernaut of American heavy music festivals, Ozzfest, which we are proud to be a part of. The opportunity to play alongside greats such as Ozzy and Rob Halford is a bit of a mindfuck for us. It's going to be a blast.
"Since I seem to be working in reverse.......We're kicking off our summer touring in July with High on Fire, Russian Circles, and Priestess in Canada. It's going to be a lot of metal, a lot of traveling, and a lot of drinking, and we wouldn't have it any other way. Black t-shirt, white van. Heavy metal on the road. Thanks to everyone for the support! Come out and see us. We'll party!" More...

Benjamin Woods' band Flametal will release the album "Heavy Mellow" on July 6th via Flametal Records. "This is a Flamenco Guitar tribute album to some of the great Metal masterpieces,” says Woods. “It is definitely a different album from the other Flametal releases and is more of a solo effort that is a very powerful to play live. Although the songs are very dark, everyone gets it, even your Mom."
"I had to use all my Flamenco knowledge to play these metal favorites without losing the integrity so I picked great songs with great melodies. On some songs I sped up the tempo, dropped a verse or created a new solo version only slightly changing the arrangements,” explains Woods. “The King Diamond song was a great challenge to put into the 12/8 time Flamenco rhythm of Bulerias, and the solo was definitely fun, but a bitch to learn on the Spanish guitar. The Megadeth tune was difficult to create melodies from Mustaine's vocal grunts and growls, but cool how it fit into the slithery rhythm of Tanguillos. I was very fortunate to have Steve Stevens do some nylon and electric guitar solos on my original tune 'Cursed.' It's a raw preview of what the next original Flametal album will be with many great guest artists featured."
You can check out Flametal tracks via the band's MySpace page.

MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn has recorded audio and video of an acoustic cover of BLACK SABBATH's "Die Young" song from the classic "Heaven and Hell" album for free download in tribute to the late Debbie Abono, who sadly passed away on the same day as legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio. In a statement made at the beginning of the video (which was recorded the day after Debbie's passing and which can be viewed at this location), Robb says, "I don't know why I recorded this song, it doesn't really have relevance to Debbie or Dio, but I was sad and depressed and it was the only thing that made sense in the world."
There are no plans to officially release Flynn's version of "Die Young," but an MP3 version of the track is available for free download at the MACHINE HEAD web site, www.machinehead1.com.

Pennsylvania's August Burns Red has checked in with the following second tour report from the band's shows in Japan:
"Saturday morning we got up around 9 AM and headed with Geess to the train station where we took the bullet train from Osaka to Tokyo. By car that is about a 9 hour drive, but it took us less than three hours by train. The bullet train ruled. It was whisper quiet, silky smooth, and fast as can be. I believe we were traveling at about 180 miles an hour.
"I had heard a lot about Tokyo and was really anxious to spend some time there. Tokyo has about 11 million people living there. Imagine NYC but in Japan. That’s the best I can explain it. We took a subway from the train station to the Tokyo equivalent of Time Square. It was a complete zoo. People everywhere. There was even a protest going on with a guy on a podium yelling through a megaphone and people holding signs up everywhere. I loved it.
"That night we played a show that was not part of the Geki Rock Fes. The show was in a cool little spot in downtown Tokyo called Shibuya Cyclone. We played with a Japanese band called United. They’re a thrash metal band who have put out 9 records since forming in 1990. Quite a career! It was an honor to play with and meet those guys. The show at Cyclone was one of the hottest shows in ABR history. I played the entire set barefoot with mesh shorts and no shirt. I seldom wear shorts and I never take off my shirt on stage. That’s how hot it was. I almost felt bad for the crowd having to endure those conditions. We were later told that the club was approximately 110 degrees, and about 40 people over capacity, not to mention unbelievably humid. Like raining from the ceiling humid. More...

Three years in the making, "Terminus: Rebirth in Eight Parts…" was conceived, written, and recorded by J. Neblock at Woodland Studios, between September of 2005 and August of 2008, and was mixed by Neblock himself.
