In a move that will surprise many who bought into the rumours that there is no love lost between the two, current MAYHEM vocalist Attila Csihar has joined former MAYHEM vocalist Maniac to record vocals for a track on the debut album from Maniac's new band SKITLIV. Commented Maniac: "Contrary to what a lot of people either say or believe, Attila and I are actually very good friends, and always find rumours about how we are supposed to resent each other quite amusing."
The track, entitled "Amfetamin", also has SHINING's Niklas Kvarforth on guitar. Kvarforth, a close friend of both vocalists, recently joined SKITLIV as recording guitarist. About the track, Maniac said: "'Amfetamin' started life as a pretty disturbing piece of music to begin with. Once Niklas joined in it became even more so, and now that Attila has added his vocals, it's taken on yet another dimension; his voice is used almost as an instrument."
SKITLIV will be touring with Japanese all-girl band GALLHAMMER in the autumn, with dates already confirmed in Norway, Denmark, Germany and Belgium. A new raw, un-mastered version of "Amfetamin", with Atilla's vocals added can be heard on the official SKTILIV MySpace page.
CONFESSOR vocalist Scott Jeffreys has recently made the following announcement:
"We are proud to announce the addition of Chris Nolan as lead guitarist of CONFESSOR. Shawn McCoy decided to pursue other interests and has left the band on good terms. We are very excited to have Chris rejoin the band. For those of you who did not know, Chris is the guitarist who stepped in, back in the day, when Ivan decided to leave the band to go back to school. Soon after Chris joined Scott also decided to leave the band to go back to school. So Chris, unfortunately, was not in CONFESSOR for long before the breakup. At that time Chris went on to continue to play with Steve, Cary and Brian in their new band FLY MACHINE. We are all very happy to have Chris in the band and look forward to recording the next album with him."
"Despite some rumours, our label, Season of Mist is very supportive and anxious for a new record. We are pleased to report that the writing process for the new album is coming along quite well and we look to do some pre-production recording in the next few months."

Unsigned metal band Live to Die has finally settled with a new singer - Brian Neal (Benemortasia/ Ex- A False hope) from Brunswick, MD. "He is a great match in our eyes and ears and we're very happy to welcome him in as part of the band," the band commented. "We've been working very hard to help him with learning the material and becoming more familiar with the music we play. Neal's first live performance with Live to Die will be August 4th at a local park building in Brunswick. A new recording is also in the works and we're hoping to get the vocals done sometime before August 4th. Overall, we're very happy to have him in the band and we're ready to get back to rockin' the fuck out!"
Here are Live to Die's current upcoming shows:
August 4th- Brunswick City Park, Brunswick, MD

Rock legends Led Zeppelin will reportedly reunite for a one-off memorial concert in honor of their late record boss.
If true, it would mark the third time that the '70s legends have played since disbanding. The band has only performed a handful of concerts, including Live Aid in 1985, since their split in 1980 following the death of drummer John Bonham. But singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones will re-group alongside Bonham's son Jason for a special concert in memory of Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun in London.
A source says, "Page, Plant and Jones spoke and agreed to do the memorial concert. They are waiting for a definite date."
"And no one can quite believe it, but during discussions about the concert they all gave the green light to a tour if it all does well and they don't all fall out."
"It has been hoped for and denied for years. But this is the closest they have ever come to a reunion tour. The feeling is that this is going to happen next year."
Ertegun died in December after seven weeks in a coma following a fall at a Rolling Stones concert. The likes of Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Stevie Nicks, and Crosby, Stills & Nash all played his New York memorial in April of this year.
Seether has been in the studio recording their follow up to "Karma and Effect" and third studio album which is tentatively due out in August. The album is being produced by Howard Benson (Flyleaf, Adema). Here's what frontman Shaun Morgan had to say about the recording progress:
"Things are going really well in studio, and the tracks are sounding badass, musically anyway. We have completed 7 songs, without vocals, and have 8 to go. We have been blown away by the support we've been getting, and the positive responses to "Like Suicide" have been amazing. This album is going to be slightly different than it's predecessors, and whilst we have retained the heaviness, there are the usual suspects for fans of the old stuff. Don't worry, it's not in any way a "I've been to rehab, found Jesus, and now I'm happy" kind of album at all. While there is nothing wrong with any of those things, they don't apply here."
"We will continue to post videos, and answer questions as much as possible, and do whatever we can to whet your collective appetites!"
American Head Charge released the 70 minute film "Can't Stop The Machine" this year to overwhelming response from fans. Nitrus Records and the AHC Death Squad (fan group) have just posted the first quarter of the film on Youtube, with more to come across the next three weeks.
Cutting edge electronic and metal label Nitrus Records have authorized the release of the clips. The film is enthralling, taking a Behind The Music approach to the legendary band, artfully edited with ten full length performances.
Can't Stop The Machine also includes all of the band's music videos. "All Wrapped Up" in particular is long-sought-after. MTV banned the video for being "too graphic". The video features Michael Rooker, star of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, the all-time favorite movie of Head Charge frontman Martin Cock.
The DVD also includes a full length CD of rarities, unreleased material, live tracks, and re-mastered songs from the band's impossible-to-find first album "Trepanation".
"Can't Stop The Machine" is in stores now in the USA and UK, and available worldwide by mail order on the band's MySpace page.

New York progressive death metallers, Grey Skies Fallen, have posted the following update on their myspace page regarding their decision to go on hiatus:
"This is a trying time for the band. The four of us have pretty much agreed to put Grey Skies Fallen on the back burner. It's been an up and down eleven years; mostly down."
"People in bands know the sacrifice that goes into it..the effort, and the emotional strain. I think all of that has caught up to us. We need to step back and take a breather."
"We have tried very hard to make good music for you guys to enjoy; we've even resorted to giving it away for free online. The reaction from that has been great. I am thrilled that our music has gotten out to many people that otherwise would have never heard us. However, real life takes precedence. We can't continue to spend money on the band like we did when we were 20, and with no outside support, (record labels, distro's) it's hard to continue." More...
As has been rumored, Coalesce will indeed be touring in August. Additionally, the group has also announced plans to release a new 7", titled "Salt and Passage," on September 11th. The current line-up of the band is: Jes Steineger, Nathan Richardson, Nathan Ellis, and Sean Ingram.
Regarding, their intentions, etc., the group comments: "Instead of looking at Coalesce as a second career or some ego-stroking project to prove something within modern music, it is being held closely and personally by the members as their time to put aside familial duties, work, school, or whatnot, and simply 'do it.' In short, we just want to hang out together again and play our shows out of a peculiar love for doing so (in all it's ugly purity)... Please let us make it very clear that this is not a 'reunion' tour in any way shape or form. Since it's simply the nature of coalesce to come and go as it pleases, terms like 'reunion' make no sense when applied to it."
The upcoming tour will feature support from Daughters, See You Next Tuesday (on the East Coast), and This Is My Condition (in the Midwest). Here are the tour dates:
8/15 Worcester, MA @ The Palladium
8/16 Philadelphia, PA @ First Unitarian Church
8/17 New York, NY @ Knitting Factory
8/18 Baltimore, MD @ Ottobar
8/19 Richmond, VA @ Alley Katz
8/20 Pittsburgh, PA @ Lawrenceville Moose
8/21 Detroit, MI @ Magic Stick
8/22 Chicago, IL @ TBA
8/23 Iowa City, IA @ Picador
8/24 Omaha, NE @ Sokol Underground

Arise and Ruin has cancelled their U.S. dates with August Burns Red as the Canadian band was denied entry into the United States. Here's a message from the group:
"We couldn't be more bummed to miss out on this tour, everyone go out and pick up August Burns Red's new disc "'Messengers' on Tuesday and to anyone attending the shows, give everyone in ABR a big hug from us Canadians. We apologize and promise to make it down to PA as soon as humanly possible!"
As previously reported, Arise And Ruin recently inked a deal with Victory Records, though their album plans have yet to be revealed.
"The guys from SONATA ARCTICA have Sopranos fever, and nothing makes them happier than visiting New York City," writes Brian Stillman of Revolver magazine. And so starts the story of how two of Finland's favorite sons stopped in on the Revolver offices, stumbled over a portable recording unit, and recorded "Da Best Song Ever." To read the rest of the adventure, pick up the August 2007 issue and turn to Page 42.
You can check out some exclusive, behind-the-scenes shots of the SONATA ARCTICA recording session while at Revolver online. You can also listen to "Da Best Song Ever" at Revolver's site.

Recorded and mixed at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, SONATA ARCTICA's latest album, Unia, which has been available in North America since May 22nd, landed on the following international album charts: Finland - #1; Japan - #7; Sweden - #27; Germany - #35; Switzerland - #40; Austria - #62. The "Paid In Full" single (video available for viewing here) also secured the #1 Single slot in their native land.

As you've probably heard, MAYHEM drummer Hellhammer recently had his arm injured and won't be able to play for a few weeks. Consequently, the band has to cancel their appearances at this year's Hellfest - set to take place June 23-25 in Clisson, France, and With Full Force - set to take place June 29-July 1st in Löbnitz, Germany.
The scheduled US tour, due to happen in July, is postponed and will be rescheduled. We will let you know the new dates as soon as they are booked and confirmed.
Maroon has posted a second studio update on their MySpace page:
"We are still working on our new recordings. We entered the Rape of Harmonies Studios two weeks ago for recording the guitars, bass and vocals. We finished all the guitar stuff this week and now André has to suffer. We're working with Alex from Heaven Shall Burn and Patrick W. Engel, both are great producers. And prepare, this shit is heavier than everything we have done before!"
You can check out a few photos on the blog post as well.
