The Seattle, Washington music scene may be still a barren ghost town compared to the way it used to produce one big Rock band after the next, but what I find most satisfying is knowing that from the ashes of Cobain and Staley, now rises a downright sickening hardcore/thrash metal band like Burnt Shadows. This band sounds very Slayer-esque at times, yet somehow still manage to carve out their own brutal musical identity. They are quickly making a name for themselves in their local area and that momentum doesn't seem to be slowing down at all. I was able to get some questions in recently with one of their two guitarists, Craig Saner. More...
Vancouver-based metallers 3 INCHES OF BLOOD have now finished writing their new album and plan to head into the studio in November to record the followup to 2004's Advance And Vanquish. Roadrunner will release the album in early 2007. As previously reported, 3 Inches Of Blood will join the Vancouver stop of the Sounds Of The Underground tour on August 10th at The PNE Forum. Complete Sounds Of The Underground details can be found here. In other tour news, Roadrunner UK say that the band may tour overseas soon as well.

Glendale, California's progressive black metal band, Orcus has been making its mark on the local Los Angeles music scene with their dark and mysterious brand of heavy music. They are getting ready to release their debut album 'Birth' on June 26th and have recently opened for the likes of Obituary and My Ruin. I took some time recently to get some questions answered by their bassist, Karo Torosyan. More...

Evansville, Indiana may be home to the legendary retired New York Yankee great, Don Mattingly, but I believe it is going to become just as well known for a little metal band that is slowly but surely inching its way out of unknown status called Deliver Us From Evil. This is a band that came together in 2003 initially under the moniker Mutiny Rise. After changing that, it seems they have fully found their identity and true calling, now steadily offering up very technical, aggressive, and the truest metal music they can possibly create. They have also been playing by all accounts, some of the most dynamic live shows in their local music scene and are working hard right now to begin their climb for the national spotlight and worldwide stardom. I am happy to have gotten some conversation in with their lead guitarist, John Matheis. More...
