Los Angeles hardcore metal outfit Deserters has released a lyric video for "Optimism's Victim," the lead track off upcoming album "The Slow Rhythms Of A Dead-Beat," which will be released September 11th, 2012 by Mediaskare Records. Check out the video clip below. The following press release was also issued:
"'The Slow Rhythms Of A Dead-Beat' picks up where 2011's 'Fail Yourself' EP left off, introducing twelve new chapters examining the harsher side of life, intimate confessions that reveal 'the punishment that dreams induce, the contemplation of suicide, the sociopath's inability to feel, the victim's left in their wake, and God's inability to be.'
"Deserters, who exemplify their own saying, 'scream the things you could never say,' chose to release opening track 'Optimism's Victim' as a dedication to 'people in the past who have held on when there was nothing real to hold.'" More...
Not long ago, I was nearly convinced that today's young thrash metal movement had spun off its axis into repetitive farce, and was ready to throw in the towel. Aping the sounds, sights, and vibes of the '80s "Golden Agers" is admirable in theory, and once (briefly) rang with the charm of novelty. But now, what's the point when most of the big boys are still in fine form, cranking out career-topping masterworks and touring like they're twenty? You can have the real thing, or something that pretends to be the real thing. It doesn't take long for nature to weed out that redundancy.
4ARM, hailing from Melbourne, Australia, doesn't pretend to be the "real thing." They simply write towering, powerful, memorable metal songs, and for that reason, they ARE the real thing. This band has salvaged my hopes for the new generation of thrash, and if given the chance, may wind up leading a bold charge of authenticity that reclaims the genre as a current, vital force - and utterly does away with the fast-dying "retro" mentality.
4ARM will soon be hitting American shores for the first time. The so-named "Zombie Apocalypse" tour will span the bulk of July, wrapping up with a performance at the vaunted Bay Area Metal Festival. Just prior to the band's departure for the States, I was delighted to get in touch with guitarist/vocalist Danny Tomb and drummer Michael "Mick" Vafiotis. What follows is our extensive email correspondence. More...
Today another new track previewing the forthcoming self-titled LP from São Paulo grindsmiths Desalmado is available in the form a brand new conceptual/performance visual depiction of the grating anthem for the album’s second track, “Canibal Social.” Check out the video through Metal Injection or in the player below.
We also had the pleasure of recently premiering a song off the album, titled "Juizo Dos Fracos," which can be heard here. The following press release was issued about the band:
"Following international praise of last year’s Hereditas 10? MLP, followed by a massive European tour in addition to generous amounts of shows throughout their native Brazil over the past year, Desalmado’s self-titled LP will see worldwide release via Greyhaze Records on July 31st.
"Produced by Jean Dolabella of Sepultura and mastered at West West Side, Desalmado captures the energetic, socio-politically aimed outfit’s most devastating material to date in a wholly organic fashion, with fifteen tracks in only thirty-one minutes.
"Having spread their live attack on stages throughout South America and Europe, Desalmado now have their sights set on North American audiences. Stay tuned for more live updates and more over the coming months." More...
Belphegor is currently working with Erik Rutan on a new album and follow-up to "Blood Magick Necromance" (reviewed here). As work on the album progresses, vocalist Helmuth recently conducted an interview with Metal Sucks to discuss his recent health issues. Excerpts from the interview follow.
Metal Sucks: How are you feeling?
Helmuth: Way better than a few months ago. I am recovering, slowly. It’s getting better each month.
Metal Sucks: I know you had to cancel some tour dates due to a lung infection back in the fall but what was the extent of your illness? What were you struggling with?
Helmuth: I had to cancel all shows and tours for the last nine months. It wasn’t a winning situation. Seriously, I never expected anything like this. Who does? It’s like a punch in the face. I got a typhus infection in Brazil. I guess it was from drinking water from the sink. What are you going to do when you wake up in the morning after hard drinking and have a raging hangover? Yes, I know, not very smart in the end. I was not vaccinated against typhus. The virus killed my lungs. As we toured Brazil, I didn’t know what was going on. I thought day by day it would get better. On the contrary, it got worse. Breathing was difficult. The last shows were tough, full of pain, vomiting and fever. But we played the last two shows with Morbid Angel. Hey, you can’t say “no, we’re cancelling.”More...

Riverside California's own Arkaik is set to release sophomore album "Metamorphignition" on October 9th, 2012 via Unique Leader Records. The 10 song, 53 minute album was recorded in Oakland, CA at Castle Ultimate Studios with Zack Ohren (Decrepit Birth, All Shall Perish, Severed Savior). The following press release was also issued:
"'Metamorphignition' represents Arkaik's most inspired and integral compositions to date. The album weaves together ten tracks with an expansive musical journey told from the perspective of the central character 'Cyrix,' who travels beyond the physical realms of his 'normal' consciousness by means of self-immolation. His travels take him through an intense observation of the conditions influencing the human experience, as he once knew it. Moving fluidly through different moods and arrangements, from harmonic to dissonant, brutal to beautiful, blistering to groovy, and from a position that pushes the progressive death metal genre to the edge of its skin, and beyond. A series of elaborate illustrations representing the concept for each song have been created by visionary artist Tony Koehl and fused into an unfolding booklet. Metamorphignition will take you on an atmospheric exploration of life, limitations, illumination and a wide spectrum of musical and visual reflections of a journey into the mind of man."
The album's track listing is as follows:
01. Skin Graft Hieroglyphics
(Sirens in Electric Veils)
03. Part 1
04. Part 2

The single is from the band's upcoming concept album "Life Apocalypse," set for release on Friday, July 13th and is the follow up to last year's debut "The Divine Equal."
Vocalist / guitarist Brian Gamblin comments on the track, "'Destined to Die' is the track we feel really introduces our album's theme of a personal apocalypse on a broad scale. It's about a person's everyday struggle with life challenges and how in the end we die no matter how hard we fight to live. Death is the storm we can't see, but our wanting to triumph over challenges despite the inevitable end is what makes us real." More...

Days after the premiere of the new video for "Dead Man," Ohio's Wolves At The Gate is pushing forward with yet another new track - "Safeguards" - from the band's debut full-length, "Captors," out July 3rd on Solid State Records. Check out the song through the Wolves At The Gate Facebook profile here.
The following press release was also issued about the new album:
"The follow-up to their touted 2011 EP We Are the Ones, Captors finds the band not only living up to but surpassing the huge potential recognized by critics and fans alike. No longer constrained by the limits of an EP, the members of Wolves At The Gate were able to showcase the explosive growth of their songwriting, from luscious, melodic rock tracks to lip-splitting hardcore stomps.
"Produced by Andreas Magnussen (OH, SLEEPER, HASTE THE DAY, etc), Captors is a blisteringly heavy full-length debut with the potential to appeal to every variety of rocker – from fans of metalcore to traditional metal to mainstream hard rock. It's an album that – like those of some of the band's influences (AS CITIES BURN, THRICE, FOO FIGHTERS, UNDER0ATH) – avoids pigeonholes and easy labels. With the November 2011 release of We Are The Ones, the band wedged their way into a crowded heavy music scene. Now, with Captors, the band is kicking down the door and taking no prisoners."

"The WaystationTour could not have gone better," comments guitarist Keeno. "The response was absolutely amazing and it has opened doors to many exciting opportunities. Vocalist/bassist Ralf Winzer Garcia of Swiss act Requiem has issued the following announcement about parting ways with the band:
"After 8 Years, 4 international album releases and hundreds of live shows in Europe I decided to leave Requiem. I'm very grateful for everything I learned during that time and for every experience I had together with my fellow friends Phil and Reto. I felt that it is the right time to pursue a new path both musically and personally. My last live show with Requiem will be at this year's Queens Of Metal Open Air Festival in Steinbach/Langenbach (GER)."
The band also commented, "We deeply thank Ralf for everything and the incomparable shared experience of the last 8 years. Only the best wishes to him and his future. Although he won't be an active musician in Requiem anymore soon he'll always be a part of this band and a friend to us.
"The band will continue to move on of course. With Giuseppe Cirotti the band already found a substitute on the bass. He already participated on 2005's European tour with Vital Remains (US). The new man on vocal duties will be Marc Reichen (Ex-Minsk Security)."

Frontman J. Costa spoke about the new song: "The song, 'You, The Apathy Divine' occurs in what is the proverbial middle of the EP and is a pivotal point of the recording with its own musical and lyrical intermezzo. For me, its timbre exudes the anguish and despair of someone dealing with infidelity after having just lost multiple relatives. That's what happened in my life and I needed to express it."

Front man Dani Filth from Cradle of Filth has issued the following update about recording new material for an upcoming release:
"Greetings fellow travellers on the B1088 trunk road to darkness! Plenty of news to pass onto you this time, just like that horrid rash the pills were for. I know I promised you an update to arrive almost a month earlier than it has, but please rest assured that my absence has been totally necessary and hopefully you will feel justly rewarded by the news that the album has now progressed into the mixing stage, with nothing more than the choirs and female vocals to be scraped into the smelting pot.
"All the music and my vocals have been committed (as have their protagonists!) to the greater picture and it all sounds truly amazing, rest assured worrisome warts, with the final two songs, 'Succumb To This' and 'Nightmares Of An Ether Drinker' titulary being added to the final roster.
"The album has been split over two working studios; I have been based at Cradle's resident studio Springvale under the helmsmanship of Mark Harwood for the last month or so, whilst the music has been captured not ten miles up the road at Scott Atkin's Grindstone studio, enabling us to work parallel to one another and thus aid not only the creative itch, but the speed of the recording process too. Though typically that very first day I started and for the first time in over fifty years, the local farmer decides to dig up two hundred-odd tonnes of earth from the plot outside the studio, and bury it behind a subsiding barn on the hill, using as many clanking leviathans of machinery possible. The utter cad! More...

"Minneapolis blastmerchants Ambassador Gun checked in from amidst their ongoing tour this week, while doing some bodywork on their van outside of a Wal-Mart. It turns out that their allies in Blue Ox had to bail from the tour at the last minute as one of the members nearly disengaged his entire leg in a brutal chainsaw accident! But automotive setbacks and chainsaw'd tourmates aside, Ambassador Gun will forge on for the remaining seven dates of the trek, with a vicious showdown in Reno confirmed for tomorrow evening. 'Fuckin way of the road, one cluster fuck after another,' they stated. 'At least the shows have been good!'
"Their first full-length since their 2009-released When In Hell album, Golden Eagle shows Ambassador Gun as always bridging all gaps subdividing extreme punk/metal genres into a crushing, crusty punk-as-fuck grind-infused amalgamation of revulsion. Here the trio cranks out 11 new songs 30 minutes, the album prevailing as a new DIY standard for the band, fully produced, recorded, and released by the members themselves. Golden Eagle is out now on cassette and digital download via the band’s self-operated label Pangea Media now. Also jam the album's second track 'Christbastard' in your ears via the Ambassador Gun Bandcamp page." More...
