I wouldn't bill this as a "new design" per se, but I've been cleaning up a lot of old code (remember, this site is over seven years old, and a lot of the code running it shows its age, unfortunately) in the past few weeks and am currently pushing these changes to the live site. Please pardon any issues you experience in the next couple of days. I should have them ironed out fairly quickly, as a lot of the issues I am already seeing just do not show up on my staged testing server.
The good news is that these updates should make adding some new features easier, as the old code base was really hindering progress in some ways. I'll have more frequent site updates over the next couple of weeks as things progress.
Thanks again for your patience while we clean up around here.
Having toured Australia together in August 2007, Richmond, VA’s Down To Nothing and Byron Bay’s 50 Lions formed a strong friendship resulting in joining forces once again for this split release. Featuring six brand new songs (three from each band) exclusive to this release, the split showcases some of both bands best work to date. The split will be available on both CD and vinyl formats and available on June 7 through Resist Records in Australia and 6131 in the USA / Europe. A track from both bands is up on their Myspace pages, Down To Nothing and 50 Lions. 50 Lions are currently touring throughout Europe with Meltdown and Bitter End (check their MySpace for dates) before returning home to join Blacklisted on their Australian Tour.
Lead guitarist/vocalist James Malone offers this band update:
“Although we had a great run over the past year and a half with drummer Darren Cesca [whose work is featured on the band’s latest album, 'We Are The Nightmare'], we have decided to stop working with him in ARSIS. The reasoning behind this decision is simply differences in personalities and an overall difference in direction. Darren is an amazing musician and we harbor no ill feelings towards him. We wish him all the best. We are most excited to announce that Alex Tomlin, a long time friend of ours and an outstanding drummer, will be replacing Darren. His first shows with us will be on the ‘In Thrash We Trust’ tour starting this Wednesday. Come out and support ARSIS and the new addition to our line-up!”
In related band news, the animated version of the ARSIS video for “We Are The Nightmare” will soon debut on MTV2’s Headbangers Ball. Stay tuned for the air dates.
LEAVES' EYES has announced a new show in Holland. Furthermore, the band will headline this year's Wacken Open Air Party Stage with their special "Viking Ship" show, with the whole stage being transferred into a giant Viking ship. Finally, the band also embarks on a full US tour this fall.
Meanwhile, the band is busy to put final touches on the upcoming "En Saga I Belgia" double live DVD, which captures their headlining gig at Metal Female Voices V Festival.

Irish thrashers Gama Bomb have posted the following blog via Myspace:
"We've returned. From our first European tour, from the wilds of central Europe, from the dead: Pick one. If you haven't paying attention, we'll try to sum it up for you. Two weeks, 11 shows, a bunch of interviews, a staggering amount of booze, over 5,000 kilometres travelled, God knows how much salted meat choked down, and some of the best, greatest, weirdest times of our 'career' (inverted commas are our own). We could prattle on about the amazing gigs (for amazing they were, boys and girls) and all the cool places we saw, but it's more interesting to write a big weird list of crap instead, isn't it?
Places we slept:
The world's smallest house (but a very nice one)
A post-apocalyptic warehouse in the former Eastern Bloc
A theatre company's commune
A clip-together motel
A kitchen floor
A kid's bed
A Berlin hideout
An old woman's basement
A narrow Amsterdam hotel (cheers E) More...

Dark New Day's new guitarist Bradley "BC" Kochmit has posted the following statement:
"First and foremost, I just want to let everyone know how honored I am to be the new guitar player for DARK NEW DAY. I have so much respect for every member of this band (past and present) that it's very difficult to describe, but if I had to sum it all up in one word ... that word would be 'family.'
"All you DARK NEW DAY fans out there that don't know me can rest assured that I will do my damnedest to make this band every bit as amazing and ass-kicking as it was before I came into the picture. Those of you that DO know me and know what I'm all about are gonna be like a little kid on Christmas morning, for damn sure!"
Burn It All, the new band featuring Fear Factory members Christian Olde Wolbers and Raymond Herrera along with ex-Halford guitarist/ Damageplan vocalist Pat Lachman, have posted samples from their new demo online at their Myspace page. BELIEVER guitarist/vocalist Kurt Bachman has posted this latest studio report on the band's MySpace page:
"Hello again. As promised, I am trying to update you on our progress more often. We just had a very productive weekend in the studio and have tracked more vox. We have to add vox on one more track and then onto more instrumental nonsense, editing and finally mixing. Thanks for hanging in there so patiently. Many of you have been wondering what the new stuff will sound like. Will it sound like 'Extraction from Mortality', 'Sanity Obscure', 'Dimensions'? Well, we think you'll hear a splash of each, but we didn't set out to just rehash the old. That would be boring and offer nothing new for you to hear. With that said (and I will remind you again once the release date draws closer), if you don't expect a total rewrite of the past then we think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Thanks again to everyone who is helping to build the underground buzz. We can't thank you enough.
Take care and stay safe."

Last week, something big happened at DeepRockDrive. As part of the Pepsi Free Concert Series, Deep Rock Drive hosted their first multi-platinum artist, DISTURBED. During this first of it’s kind event, some very interesting and exciting events came to pass.
DISTURBED fans were treated to a full concert performance in High Definition, full interactivity and no one standing in front of them, blocking their view. Every fan in attendance had a front row seat and a back stage pass.
Over 10,000 people showed up online to participate in the show. The technical team at Deep Rock Drive had expected that, too, since the initial batch of virtual tickets sold out quickly they had to add servers to their datacenter to handle extra capacity for more online fans.
“What blew us away completely what the unimaginable frenzy of interactivity that emerged during the show. It probably shouldn’t come as a surprise, because we’ve built a a live experience that is truly fun. When you give passionate fans the tools to interact directly with an artist like DISTURBED, of course they’re going to use them. But in just over 60 minutes, they used them at a rate that astounded us in the best of ways…” – Jeff Henshaw- Deep Rock Drive
* Over 1,300,000 interactive events took place during the show.
* Fans shouted out their thoughts, in freeform text, over 350,000 times.
* Fans threw “Emotapplause” animations onto the display screen wrapping DISTURBED’s stage over 915,000 times. There were peaks of over 1,100 Emotapplause per second!
* When it came time to vote for an encore, over 5,000 people cast a vote in less than 10 seconds.
* It must be OK to be fashionably late, because over 2,000 people grabbed tickets and rushed the virtual doors halfway through the show!
* DeepRockDrive’s virtual venue filled with fans from 71 countries around the world. That’s over a third of all the countries that exist (this has happened at two shows now).
DISTURBED fans from around the world got an entirely new perspective on what a live concert can be like when fans get to interact with artists.
Fresh from the Paganfest USA tour, Turisas themselves have confirmed the supporting slot for Dragonforce's upcoming UK and Ireland tour, starting in September 2008.
Warlord Nygård comments: "After our own European Tour and Paganfest USA this spring, we're happy to announce this one: we're joining up with Dragonforce on their UK tour and this something we're already hugely looking forward to. We are also extra excited about the shows in Ireland, which will be our first ones on the island that we've been unfortunate enough to miss out on previous tours. As you can imagine, Olli is sharpening his bow already as his one-man mission is about to reach its climax ... All in all, it's going to be a great package no-one should miss out on.
"See you at the summer festivals and latest in the autumn!"
The tour starts on September 26th in Manchester, and runs until October 13th where it wraps in Cork.
Also, the same combo will play a special warm-up show in Oxford.
