U.K. death thrashers Arceye have posted the final installment of their studio blog series that takes the viewer behind the scenes of "At First Light," the band's upcoming new album. Check it out below, or watch the previous clip in the series at this location.
States the band: “This is the final video which shows us setting up our own mobile Pro Tools setup to record guitars, bass and vocals. We recorded everything at a few locations including our practice room. Doing it this way meant that we could take our time and get the performances we wanted without the pressure of daily studio costs. When we had finished we sent it all off to Scott Atkins (Sylosis, Cradle Of Filth, Amon Amarth, Gama Bomb) at Grindstone Studios to re-amp, mix and master it.”
The video also shows the artwork process that was undertaken by the bands drummer Craig Mackay. “Craig painted the front cover and all of the portraits. These were then scanned into the computer and Craig finished off the final artwork layouts and text. Even though this was a fairly long process we always wanted to put together a great album package, which included the artwork as well as the music within. We believe we have achieved this and are very proud of the finished product. We hope everyone else agrees.” More...

We Butter The Bread With Butter will release new album "Goldkinder" on August 13th, 2013. Guitarist Marcel Neumann comments, “We had about 80 songs recorded during this time, but we kept throwing away recordings and starting over again until we felt we created something totally new.”
"Goldkinder" was recorded by the band itself and mixed by Stefan Glaumann (Rammstein, Apocalyptica). Incorporating the technical harmonics of metal and the hooks of electro-pop into heavy rock, songs range from in-your-face pit-starters like “Alles Was Ich Will” to tunes with colossal melodies like “Mayday Mayday.”
While Neumann admits that the band may shock some fans who loved the pure aggression of 2010’s full-length, "Der Tag an dem die Welt unterging," he says “We didn’t want to be carbon-copy band # One Million and one with the same elements, the same sound and same structures as everyone else. It makes us sad to see every band trying to copy themselves or others.” More...

Driven by chemical despondency and the liberation of low-end audio scum, Nashville-based gruesome twosome Black Tar Prophet has confirmed that a pending second LP will see release via Domestic Genocide. The following press release was issued about the band:
"Bearing a noxious brew of fuzz and misery-powered fuckcrush akin to Bongzilla, Buzzov*en, Weedeater, Noothgrush and the like, yet void of any vocal contributions, it’s pretty obvious from opening note to crushing closing of every track what the instrumental act is focused on; playing purely pummeling auditory filth with corrosive drugs coursing through it all.
"Since their 2011 convergence the duo Black Tar Prophet has soiled the lands with a rash of demo releases, and in 2012 released both a one-song/forty-two minute album called Note To Nod, and a split with Atlanta act Crawl, with a lineup shift happening the same year amidst the plethora of recordings coming into existence.
"They’ve endured tours of the Southern US states, and have tore up local venues with countless regional acts including Order Of The Owl, Backwoods Payback, Before The Eyewall, Crawl, Gorgantherron, Ponykiller, Motherplant and many more. The band will focus on intoxicating more audiences in the live setting over the rest of 2013 as they conjure and capture the material for their new full-length which will see release in early 2014 via Domestic Genocide. Manowar will release highlights of the band's Lord Of Steel World Tour 2012/2013 on a live EP, featuring performances from the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Italy, Russia and Sweden.
"From the first show in Zaragoza/Spain to the last show in Yekaterinburg/Russia, The Lord Of Steel World Tour was a terrific experience," said Joey DeMaio. "Performing new songs for the first time in front of your audience is the ultimate test of the power of the songs to connect to the only people that matter. Our fans were totally brutalized and went wild as you will hear on this new EP," he continued. "'The Lord Of Steel Live' is a thank you to our amazing fans; it will forever immortalize this tour and those who attended it."
The album will be mixed and mastered at Manowar's own studios Hell and Haus Wahnfried by Joey DeMaio personally with long time Manowar engineer Dirk Kloiber.

Al Jourgensen will release his band Ministry's new studio album, "From Beer To Eternity," on September 6th via 13th Planet Records. This album will follow previous release "Relapse" (reviewed here) and pre-order info will be posted soon on Ministry's Facebook.
As fans of the band know, after last year there wasn't going to be another Ministry album, but as Jourgensen put it recently, "I had no choice."
Sessions for what would become "From Beer to Eternity" began last December at Jourgensen's 13th Planet compound in El Paso, TX with Jourgensen (who produced the album, composed the music and wrote the lyrics for all 11 songs), guitarists Mike Scaccia and Sin Quirin, drummer Aaron Rossi and bassist Tony Campos.
Rough tracks for 18 songs were finished on December 19th, and three days later, the 47-year old Scaccia died from a heart attack he suffered onstage while playing a live show with his band Rigor Mortis in Dallas, TX. Jourgensen, Quirin, Rossi and Campos were absolutely devastated.
"We have never, in the history of Ministry, ever had a tracking session like that before," states Jourgensen, "everything went so smoothly, it was surreal. And Mikey was so on fire and inspired, and really a driving force for this record." After returning from Scaccia's funeral in Dallas, and shouldering the weight of grief as well as the desire to honor his fallen comrade, Jourgensen locked himself in his studio with his engineer and co-producer Sammy D'Ambruoso for three excruciating months. Katatonia recently launched a crowd funding campaign to release a re-imagined version of latest album "Dead End Kings" (check out our review of the original version right here). The new album is to be titled "Dethroned & Uncrowned."
The campaign has already reached its goal, but fans can still contribute funds and get perks at this location. Katatonia comments on the campaign and coming release:
"First off, we wanna say that we’re completely happy with the outcome and success of ‘Dead End Kings’, but truth to be told, we saw a potential in going in a different and unexplored direction with the same material. Our instincts told us that this would be both intriguing and captivating to revoke the loud and aggressive sound picture dominant on the album and instead give way to the atmosphere and tranquillity lurking beneath. This eventually became an urge, so a few months later down the road we decided it was time to re-visit this project, but indulge in new creative experimentation.
"So, it’s our wish to release the entire album in a stripped down, semi-acoustic way and turn things around completely and we are asking you, the fans, to help us do this by Pledging the various album formats and other exclusive items we have made available. By doing so you can check back regularly to find out about our campaign and the album’s progress.
"The synopsis is simple and album title won’t lie; the drums will be dethroned and the distorted rhythm guitars will be uncrowned! Instead, we’ll place the emphasis on the many layers of ambience, with the melodies staying central and the vocal harmonies representing the heart of the album. Also by pledging you are helping the bands ability to be able to tour further afield. Although the songs are the same and the track listing doesn’t change, we hope the end result is something entirely different!
"Think of the album like a person’s face in the hands of a surgeon, whose appearance is gonna change, but it’s still the same person behind that face and we guess an important factor, in this case, would be that the surgeon itself is obviously Katatonia, not a stranger! If there’s one album in our repertoire that’s suited for a thing like this, it’s ‘Dead End Kings’. More...

Blackened folk metal duo Moss Of Moonlight has released a lyric video for "Eole," taken from the band's upcoming album "Winterwheel," which is scheduled for release June 21st, 2013. Singer, drummer and percussionist Jenn Grunigen comments on the song:
“Eole is a song about Hretha, a little-known Anglo Saxon goddess. Because not much is known about her, we took some liberties in creating a mythic cycle of her own--a depiction that is, in all likelihood, utterly wrong. But this album is not just about adhering to ancient ways--it's about creating new ones (and one common interpretation of Hretha is that she's associated with rebirth). Humans are not what they once were, for better and worse. So, this song tells of humanity's power to give life--even to goddesses; it's the story of an elk and her feral, wandering goddess-companion whose life force thrives in human blood.”
The track listing is as follows:

Ripple Music is proud to announce the latest in their ongoing series of rare test pressing auctions for charity, this time benefiting the medical needs of Doommantia founder Ed Barnard. The long-running site, Doommantia is one of the leading forces bringing CD Reviews, Interviews, Authorized free downloads and Promotion for bands in the Doom, Stoner, Psychedelic, Drone, Sludge Metal genres. The site also has an active forum for heavy rock maniacs to share ideas and views, creating a solid doom rock community.
For those unaware, Ed had been forced into homeless by a medical condition but still manages to keep the Doommantia site viable online when he can get near a wifi signal. Ed suffered a series of heart attacks that forced Ed to become unemployed. Those events, plus the exorbitant cost of cardiac medications made paying the rent an impossibility and he was evicted from his place in Aberdeen, Washington. Now homeless, the doom and metal community has been rallying around his cause with benefit concerts and a compilation of 39 heavy bands that all donated their music to help Ed's cause. Ed just turned 50, and recently had to live in a storage locker for one month, which is inhumane for a man with a heart condition, or anyone for that matter. The compilation, Doommantia Vol. 1, is available here.
Now Ripple Music offers their assistance to help a musical brother in need. After establishing an ongoing company policy of giving back to the community, Ripple Music has auctioned off some of their rarest test pressings to help the BP Spill Gulf Clean Up, Wounded Warriors, Sloan-Kettering Cancer Research, and Joplin Missouri Tornado Relief, amongst others. The auction of the extremely rare test press for Devil To Pay's "Fate is Your Muse" will continue that tradition, offering heavy rock/doom fans a chance to get one of only two test-pressings ever to be released to the public.
"Fate is Your Muse" was unleashed upon an eagerly-waiting audience, April 9th, 2013 and immediately garnered critical rave reviews, leading Shakefire.com to boast, "If you love Rock music, you have to check out Fate is your Muse and Devil to Pay. If these guys aren't rock legends already, they will be for sure soon." The "Fate is Your Muse" Rare Test Press Auction is live on eBay at this location. 100% of proceeds from the auction will be used to help help Mr. Barnard regain his self-sufficiency. Don't miss this chance to own a unique Doom Collectible LP and support the heavy rock community. More...
