Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler has issued an update on Facebook, discussing the band and his own plans for the future:
"Things are moving along very well these days in my world. A few big surprises are in the works and the expected is as expected. We have been busting our butts full time for months writing the new record, it's fantastic so far to say the very least. Now switched into prep mode for Montreal show Friday, our only show in 2011. It will mark the middle of the year that we are taking to write new record and reconnect with our families. Its come up fast but the hard work is now behind us. Surprises are more specific to me and will come about later this year. Will say they have to do with Epic (not our record label) cameras, large drumfest overseas and a recording opportunity with a different band that will push me to every limit! All good stuff but first and foremost - my top priority is my daughters 3rd birthday this weekend. Its gonna be a rager! We did Sesame St. LIVE last weekend and we are PUMPED! LOL."

I'll always remember Anal Cunt for being one of the four bands who broke me into the extreme metal underground back in 2006. Anal Cunt, alongside Unearth, Cannibal Corpse and Lamb of God were my four gateway drugs into the harder, edgier side of metal. It was a time when nu metal was no longer played on the radio and KoRn's Take a Look in the Mirror album was such a huge disappointment that left me only listening to Tool but looking for something that was metal that I hadn't heard before. With our new label Lifeforce Records we found the matching partner and we’re really looking forward to our future cooperation. Richmond, Virginia crossover band MUNICIPAL WASTE has announced a new worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast Records.
On their way to devastate the Mainstage 02 at Hellfest Open Air in France this Saturday, June 18th, the band members check in about their big announcement:
“It took a real long time to decide what we were going to do for our next record,” states Municipal Waste frontman Tony Foresta. “We wanted to work with a label that were not only fans of the band and our music, but were willing to get behind any ridiculous idea that we could think of. Once we realized this, Nuclear Blast was the obvious choice. The Blast has been friends with the band long before doing a record was even a possibility. I feel like we’re starting off with a clean slate and decade of experience to start back up on the right track. Expect some great things in the near future from the WASTE. This is only the beginning!”
"Nuclear Blast has shown their love for the WASTE for years,” drummer Dave Witte continues. “And when it came time for a new deal, it was a no brainer in my eyes. NB all the way. We are thrilled to be included among a roster of great bands and hard working people that love them. I can't wait to get into that studio!"
Gerardo Martínez, long-time MUNICIPAL WASTE fan and Label Manager of Nuclear Blast USA, comments on the newest members of the Nuclear Blast Family:
“We’ve known the WASTE guys for some time and when the moment was right to bring them on board, we did not hesitate one second. They are the best and most relevant band at what they do, and a pleasure to be around… not to mention they are some of the funniest and down-to-earth people we’ve met. The excitement level for a new MUNICIPAL WASTE record is at its highest and we are ready to deliver this to the masses!”
Municipal Waste will be entering the studio this summer to record their fifth full-length album and Nuclear Blast debut in their hell-bent quests for infectious riffs and never-ending headbanging sessions. A 2012 release is expected.

Adrift In The Ocean
Eternal Tears of Sorrow has checked in with the following announcement about recording six new songs for an upcoming release:
"As we already told on our Facebook page, we have finished our first recording session at Tico-Tico Studios. We are recording this album in two main sessions + some extra sessions throughout this year. This way has proven to be the best for us and our timetables and we've been using the same 'take it slowly, make it good' method ever since our comeback in 2005.
"What we did during the past weeks was recording the basic tracks for six songs. Now, it's time for a short summer holiday after which we're going to do the vocals and the keyboard tracks, and, of course, to write more new songs for the second main recording session, which is going to take place at the end of this year.
"Trying to verbally describe the new songs is like trying to draw how they sound like. And even if we somehow managed to describe how the new songs sound like, they only represent one half of the forthcoming album.
"Anyway, it has been announced that we're going to play our second (and last) gig in 2011 at Jyrkka Festival in Pudasjärvi. Which is nice, as this band was formed in the very same town and as a matter of fact, we played our very first gig on the same stage fourteen years ago. And now, after eleven years, we're coming back to our original home town. Nice."
You can also find photos from the studio at the Eternal Tears of Sorrow Facebook page here.
In a recent interview with Ovmetal.com, Napalm Death bassist Shane Embury revealed that the band has finished recording their fourteenth studio album, which is expected to be released this October through Century Media Records. An excerpt from the interview reads as follows:
OV: Have you completed the recording of the next NAPALM DEATH record?
Well, it’s pretty much finished, Russ [Russel, the producer] will go into the studio in July again, just to master it and fine-tune little pieces here and there. We tend to listen to it for a few weeks and see if there’s anything to change. It’s better to just reflect on the album for a couple of weeks before you decide finally what the right mix is, but it’s pretty much done.
OV: Is there anything you can tell me about the new album or how it will be different from your last one, “Time Waits for No Slave”?
It’s hard to say. We recorded 19 songs and an instrumental in some respects, so 20 tracks altogether. It is different, in what way? I don’t know. I think it’s pretty hard to tell people if it’s like this or like that – it got many elements of what NAPALM DEATH is all about. I hope nobody will get disappointed. It has lot of fast stuff on it; lots of classic typical killer riffs, and there are a couple of songs where Mitch [guitar] and Barney [vocals] split the vocals between each other. That’s little different, because Mitch’s vocals are not as deep, so Barney and him kind of complimented each other. I’m a little too close to it now but I’m very happy with the album, it has lot of different pieces, and intricacies. There are guitar pieces which are kind of experimentally strange and different for us, but if you’re a fan of the band for a long time, it got everything you need [Laughs]…

Metallica has posted the following update online regarding talk of a new album:
"A few months ago our own Kirk Hammett hinted at a new Metallica project that’s 'not really 100 percent a Metallica record.' While Kirk may have jumped the gun a little (and has since been properly punished with a series of push-ups!), we are more than proud to announce that we have just completed recording a full length album that is a collaboration with none other than the legendary Lou Reed.
"Ever since we had the pleasure of performing with Lou at the 25th Anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at Madison Square Garden in October of 2009, we have been kicking around the idea of making a record together. Some of you astute Bay Area residents may have picked up news of recent Lou Reed sightings in the greater San Francisco area and we have indeed been working at our home studio at HQ on and off over the last few months. In what would be lightning speed for a Metallica related project, we recorded ten songs during this time and while at this moment we’re not exactly sure when you’ll hear it, we’re beyond excited to share with you that the recording sessions wrapped up last week.
"A true innovator and easily one of the most influential songwriters, musicians, and performers in rock music history, Lou‘s work with the Velvet Underground and as a solo artist has such an enduring quality that he has long been revered and respected by us and many of our peers. We can’t wait for you to listen to the finished record, so as we like to hear ourselves say around here, keep watching this spot for updates...we’ll be back with more details as they come together."
