ULVER has posted a cover version of PRINCE's "Thieves in the Temple" on their official MySpace page."Thieves in the Temple" was originally released on Prince's 1990 "Graffiti Bridge" album, with the song hitting 6 on the US charts.
For the cover, ULVER collaborated with female soul singer and WYCLEF JEAN protégée, SIRI STRANGER. The boys downplay their own participation, and relation to Prince, with the following statement: "Prince is not our familiar, but we appreciate his spirituality and sensibility, manifest in this song. We are thieves in his temple."
Their song is part of a massive 81-track, 5-CD tribute titled, "Shockadelica: 50th Anniversary Tribute To The Artist Known As Prince" (C+C Records)
Info on the label website about the release reads: "An overwhelming compilation by the finest Norwegian artists doing their all-time favourite Prince songs. Shockadelica is a genre-breaking compilation where all musical categories are represented. We have gathered Norway's finest jazz musicians, heavy metalists, pop, electro, rock, country, blues, gospel choirs, Norway's most famous boy choir, avantgarde, soul, funk, jazz-rock, noise, humourists, singer/songwriters, hiphop-producers, Prince cover bands and dance artists. Even the national symphony orchestra KORK is represented. This is more than just a Prince tribute album. This is actually EVERYTHING the Norwegian musical scene has to offer 2008. All is made with love to the world's greatest artist ever, Prince. The 5 CD-compilation is one time offer, 5000 copies limited edition only."

UK-based melodic power metal act Power Quest has announced that former Cellador and current Coldera guitarist Bill Hudson has been recruited into the Power Quest ranks.
PQ Mainman Steve Williams comments: "I'm absolutely ecstatic with this news! I've been good friends with Bill for a couple of years now and we have often talked about working together in some shape or form and now we have the perfect opportunity to do just that. As well as being a fantastic guitarist, Bill is also a great songwriter too which means this is going to benefit the band on a number of levels. Welcome aboard brother!"
Bill adds: "We've always talked about doing something together at some point, but the closest we've got to it was my guest solo (in the song The Vigil) on the new record. When I left Cellador, I had no idea I would end up being in Power Quest. So I'm really excited about it, as it's a great band, my style will fit right in and they have one of the best guitarists in current metal, Andrea Martongelli. It'll be a pleasure to be the other 50% of this killer guitar duo! I look forward to meeting the fans during the Master of Illusion tour!"
Power Quest is currently booking a UK tour for later this year to promote their latest release, "Master of Illusion," which has successfully been launched worldwide via Napalm Records / Avalon Marquee (Japan). The album has already been nominated in numerous magazines and webzines for album of the year and shot right to number 8 in the Japanese HMV charts in the 2nd week after the release.

Death Angel's Mark Osegueda and Rob Cavestany sat down with The Voice Connection to discuss singing, song-writing and their brand new CD "Killing Season." Here's an excerpt:
Valerie: First of all, thank you for accepting to do this interview. I’m going to dive right into the singing related questions because I know you don’t have a lot of time. How would you define your singing styles? Obviously Mark is the lead singer but you both sing well and you both have very contrasting styles…
Mark: Absolutely! Mine is power rock based. The ultimate goal is to sound somewhat between Bon Scott meets Bruce Dickinson and Dio! It's a powerful base thing. A lot of times I just let my power take me where it wants to go. I can hold notes long and attack with a very resilient voice. I can't necessarily say that's where it's started but I'm fortunate enough that it has gone more powerful over the years where for a lot of people it’s gone the opposite.
Rob: It's a pretty good description! That's how I picture him when he's singing. That's why he's the lead singer and I'm the coming relief! We do have contrasting styles so we just have to reconcile in that way. I find it really difficult to sing the style Mark is singing, which I love but my voice just doesn't sing that way. My singing is more melodic. We speak alike because we grew up together but when we're singing we have two different colours of sound in our music to use.

Orlando, Florida's HAND TO HAND is returning with a digital-only EP (to be released as limited tour EP in in the U.S.), entitled "Breaking The Surface." Blending elements of contemporary hardcore, rock and roll, and old school metal, HAND TO HAND lets go of the boundaries and limitations their previous efforts had placed on them. This digital EP follows on the heels of their highly successful Lifeforce debut release, "A Perfect Way To Say Goodbye," which got the attention of Alternative Press (among many others) to nominate them as one of the "Bands To Watch."
"Breaking The Surface" is set for release on July 21, 2008. Their new full-length is planned for release in October 2008.

Frontman Matt Heafy says of the new album: "For the first time, we can't look at our songs and say who the riffs sound like. We're really making our own stuff and our own kind of music and art form, and that's exciting."
Trivium will also be a part of the Unholy Alliance tour this year with Slayer and Mastodon.
Polish death metal legends VADER have posted the following update:
“After five years of working with Vader, our bassist Novy (true name Marcin Nowak) decided to part ways with the band! He made his decision right after recently finished European tour. We would like to thank him for all those years of successful cooperation and just a great work he did for the band within the time. The band’s members wish him all the best for the future! Unfortunately, Marcin’s decision of leaving the band was made not only after the finished tour in Europe, but also just before the upcoming (and very important) US tour Summer Slaughter Tour 2008 (when we appear alongside THE BLACK DALHIA MURDER, KATAKLYSM, CRYPTOPSY, and other bands). This is a very hard situation for the band but don’t worry - we have already found a replacement - the session bassist for this tour will be Martin (ex-DECAPITATED). We are convinced that together with him Vader will be a killer! The session bass player for the shows planned for the rest of 2008 will be announced after the US tour.
"On August 3rd, Vader will appear on Polish Woodstock Festival. On August 30th the band will play a special anniversary show in Warsaw. In October, panzer-division under command of Peter will hit the road again, playing a tour through across Scandinavia and the Baltic States.
"The band needs a new bass player. If you are interested, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are looking only for a serious and experienced musician.”
