Antagonist has announced "World In Decline" as the title of thier long awaited new album. The band recorded at Buzzbomb Studios in Orange, CA with producer Paul Miner (Terror, Thrice, Throwdown). Antagonist released "Exist", their Prosthetic Records debut in 2008.
Singer/guitarist Carlos Garcia commented on the forthcoming album:
“We’ve just wrapped up the making of our new album with Paul Miner. We’re super stoked on the finished product, and we hope everyone will feel the same! Paul was amazing to work with, he was very encouraging and super patient with us, and we’re eternally grateful for that. And of course, he knows his way around the console. This is honestly the first album we’ve done that is an accurate representation of Antagonist’s live sound, and it definitely showcases a more refined, aggressive sound. We’re taking it back to the old school!”
“‘Exist’ had a hopeful message of working together as humans towards a better future. The new album is about the realization that things will always be fucked up, people will always be selfish, and this world is going to end at any minute, and we have nobody to blame but ourselves. People grow older and figure out that life doesn’t get any easier and that our own selfishness, carelessness, and ignorance are at the core of our demise. So right now, that’s where our heads are at, which will in turn no doubt lead to a much more aggressive and angry album. “
The band will be announcing a late summer tour in the coming days.
GORY BLISTER have started work on writing the successor to "Graveyard of Angels." "The new stuff is coming out perfect Gory Blister style, that is a mix of brutality, melody 'when possible' and technique," states the band. More news about the album to come.

Swiss death metallers Omophagia have checked in with the following recording update:
"It's high time for another update and finally I managed to give you a short statement to what’s going on at the Omophagia-camp. Normally we try to keep you informed as regularly as we can but at the moment we are very busy with the recordings and everything that comes with it. As I told you earlier our recording work got delayed due to several reasons and in the meantime the delay grew even more. We have spent and still spend every single free minute into that album and sometimes the work doesn't seem to have no end.
"But as you all know 'haste makes waste' and the good thing is that we are all really satisfied with the output. And in the end this is what really matters! We would have never imagined that this would have been possible after only 3 years of Omophagia's existence. More...

Megadeth's production assistant Rikki has checked in with the following report from the road:
"Hey everybody! Checking in from a big top tent in Cork, Ireland. We're kicking off their "Live at the Marquee" summer concert series here tonight. We apologize for having to make the show time a little earlier than normal, but it's a situation that if we don't play earlier, we won't be able to get our gear to Warsaw in time for the Sonisphere. Can't have that! So a little earlier it has to be.
"What a crazy weekend this has turned out to be. Kicked it off in Copenhagen with the Deftones (one of MY favorite bands ever) for Copenhell, then headed to Download. We finished that show, packing gear and whatnot, shortly after 1 am, had to repack ourselves to fly, then headed to the airport at 4 am. The lucky ones got about 2 hours of sleep before we had to get on the plane and fly to Download. It was a long drive for our gear to get there and it arrived very very shortly before we arrived on stage. To say that we were sweating it would be an understatement! But we got it, we made it happen, on little to no sleep. The show was amazing! I can't even describe what it felt like to look out at that massive crowd and see all the support. The photo taken of the band during the bow sums it up fairly well. It was so great to see so many friends and work with a great festival staff. More...

Furthermore, we are now able to finish the writing process of the new songs A Life Less Ordinary, Colourblind and Chains of the Collective. We'll add them to our live set as soon as they're done."
Nathalia also commented: "After Thronar broke up, I've been busy giving piano lessons. But my my, did I miss the stage and a good band around me! Then Alerion came on my path: great musicians, great people. I'm glad to have the honour to be part of the band. Let's make some music!"

Finland's Battlelore has checked in with the following update about recording a new album:
"On last Monday it started - the recording of the new album that is. Drum recording was finished on Thursday and the guitars/bass started earlier today. We will be recording 12 or so songs. The working title of the album is currently 'Doombound.'
"Here's what Jyri had to say about the album: 'We will begin the recordings of our next album in early June at Sound Supreme Studios (Hämeenlinna, Finland) with Janne Saksa, who will engineer and produce the album. The legendary Dan Swanö will do the mixing and mastering and hopefully, we'll get the whole battle package out in early fall of 2010. Stylistically, we have turned back to the old school style of songs with grinding drums and fast guitars! This will also be our first concept album and the songs will relate the story of Tolkien's tragic hero Túrin Turambar.'
"We will update you about the proceedings. There will be cooperation with Sounds2move.de with the studio diary as well as some youtube video clips, stay tuned for updates!! Cheers!"
Sludge metal legends CROWBAR have signed a worldwide deal with E1 Music. The band will be releasing a new full-length album later this fall. "CROWBAR is very excited to have landed this deal with E1 Music! We have always been very proud of what we do and the new record will not disappoint and of our die hard fans." says front man and guitar player Kirk Windstein.
The forthcoming album will be the follow up to the band’s last album, "Lifesblood for the Downtrodden," which was released out in 2005. Windstein continues. "Big thanks to Jamey Jasta, Steve Ross and the legal team at E1 Music. Get ready, with a real label behind us we will crush!"
E1 Music Vice President of Metal Scott Givens adds, "CROWBAR have influenced a generation of great bands and E1 is fully committed to making this the band’s biggest selling record of its long and storied career."
Kirk Windstein formed CROWBAR in 1991. Since that time, the band's sound has profoundly influenced a new generation of metal acts the world over. Weinstein is also a key member of KINGDOM OF SORROW (with HATEBREED front man Jamey Jasta) and DOWN.
Derelict has issued the following update about the band's five year anniversary and announcement about parting ways with two members:
"Hello friends and fans. Eric here. June 2010 marks the five-year anniversary of when Daryl and I started playing together, the birth of what soon became Derelict. In five years, we have released three albums, embarked on three national tours, completed countless mini treks and one-offs, and experienced a lot of amazing things. I personally could not be prouder of what we have achieved.
"Our recently completed Northern Shores Tour confirmed the existence of a Derelict fan base all over the country, and for many of us was the confirmation that what we have been doing is being very well received. Unfortunately, many victories are shadowed by losses. We are sad to announce that Daryl and Joey will be leaving Derelict as of September. The road can be brutal, and life presents many opportunities outside of death metal that are just as fulfilling. We wish them well! More...
Norway's Kraanium has issued the following statement about the band's appearance at the Death Fest Open Air:
"So, we are back home in cold Norway after 3 days of great brutality and fun! It was amazing to finally play at this great festival, even though the damn weather gods did not want us to play at the big stage obviously, both Kraanium, and the dfoa crew managed to make the best out of it in the party tent, and what a slamming party it was to play in there.
"And to all of the people who thought our singer was shouting 'fuck the weed,' he actually said 'fuck the WIND' since it ruined our chance to slam it out on the big stage, buhu!:( Met alot of great friends, both old and new, had a great time there for sure!
"Thanks alot to all the people we meet and all the people who checked us out, bought our merch, took pictures/ videos and came talk to us! It means alot to us to see that people appreciate what we do, and support us! Also thanks to all the great bands who played there and made this a great festival yet again. Last but not least: To everyone who bought our merch, took pix or videos of us, get in contact so we can put this up on our page!"

See you all soon."

Germany's Lifeless released the album "Beyond the Threshold of Death" through Ibex Moon Records on June 8th, 2010. Lifeless guitarist Marc recently conducted an interview with Highwire Daze, in which he discussed the new album and the best kinds of German beer. An excerpt from the interview follows.
Highwire: What German beer could you recommend to our readers and do you like American beer at all?
Marc: Oh, hard to say. The most popular German beer abroad is “Becks” if I got it right. But this is not the best German beer at least. There are so many different kinds of beer in Germany that it is really hard to decide which one is the best. My favorite one is “Kronen Pils” from our hometown Dortmund. And “Diebels Alt” is also great. Unfortunately I don’t know American beer yet. But if we ever do a tour in the States I will try as much of it as possible. Promised…More...

Ladies and gentlemen, we'd like to present 'Reborn!'
"A word to all worriers: there's no need to be anxious, the album is really varied and contains different tracks ranging from mellow to pretty extreme. There are lots of melodic, folky songs, but also some death-metallish tracks. Ok, there are no blast beats, but we haven't given up growling or double bass drumming. God bless!"
