Long Island's SOLDIERS are feverishly writing for their follow up album to 2008's "End Of Days." Singer and songwriter Rick Jiminez checked in with Trustkill to say, "We've had some time this spring and summer between the activity of all of our other bands and started writing some new shit. It's been a while since we had written and released 'End Of Days' so we approached this from a totally refreshed perspective. The stuff is still as pissed and frustrated as ever."
Speaking more specifically on some new songs, Rick said, "The past year and a half have built up quite a bit of cynicism and rage in me and the music also reflects that. 'Black Scar' is a new song that switches the perspective of how I usually approach a song. Instead of focusing my attention towards how I observe others and their actions, I've used the song to express what I've become because of the filth I see and am sometimes forced to be surrounded by."

German heavy rock/metal band ZERO MENTALITY has signed with LET IT BURN RECORDS. October 9, 2009 will see the release of "Black Rock."
Zero Mentality commented on the signing with Let it Burn and their future plans: "After protracted and intense negotiations with labels like Warner, Sony and Ariola we finally decided to make it happen with the Independent Label Let It Burn from Munich. Chris made us an offer we just could not refuse. On September 11th 2009, Black Rock will hit the heart of the planet of the apes with a release-show in the Ruhrpott-area. It will tear down the pillars of bad taste. The obligatory Black Rock Tour in september/october/november will bring unexpected terror and therefore be a historical caesura in the music of the apes.”
"Black Rock" has been recorded with friend and producer Jacob Bredhal and is Zero Mentality’s very own, unconventional, anti-trend interpretation of metal, rock and hardcore-punk.

Egyptian female fronted hardcore metal band MASCARA has been confirmed to play on the third day of Sweden rock festival alongside internationally recognized metal names. The festival will take place on June 3 -6, 2009.
Quoting the organizers of Sweden Rock Fest:
"This may be one of the most exotic bands that will ever enter a stage during Sweden Rock Festival. Mascara is the first female hard rock band ever to come from Egypt, and they will now make their first appearance in Europe. Their music is a fusion of the West's heavy metal and the East's lovely melodies, where distorted guitars meets beautiful violins. The band won three prices during the 2006 International Music Competition."
Sweden Rock Festival started 1992 in a small town in Sweden called Olofström, and has since then grown bigger and bigger. The festival had 29,000 people in attendance in the year of 2007. Nowadays, the festival is located in Norje (Sölvesborg), in the southern parts of Sweden and is now one of the most important festivals in Europe and the biggest one in Sweden.
Auckland, NZ metal outfit 8 Foot Sativa has posted the following update on their Myspace page:
"We have been really quiet as of late, so we thought we’d just post a quick update. Writing for the new album is progressing really well, we have 3 songs complete and over half a dozen well on the way. This material is seriously fuckin killer, and totally blows away anything we have done in the past.
"We are booked in to record the new album in October, and you can be sure we’ll tour the shit out of it, including our long overdue return to Australia.
"Also, we have 2 shows coming up next month that we are the final stages of booking. As you all know, Gary has had severe wrist problems for quite some time, and after numerous specialists and being on the waiting list for surgey for years, it looks we will have to go private. This is going to be really expensive, so we are doing a couple of shows to try and help him out. We need him in top shape for when we unleash album #5?"
Grunge/metal band 2 Sides 2 Die is hard at work on their new album and the band describes the new material as "A Hell of alot more heavy, and dark."
"It's going to have a Gothic Feel to it," says lead singer/songwriter Zack Burkett. "All the songs have a very dark feel to em..an almost HIM like vibe..but at the same time its the most heaviest thing we've ever done," Explained Burkett.
Tom King, the band's drummer, was quoted as saying "The Records going to be crazy...It's going to make 'Doom and Gloom' look like a childs lullaby"
Kevan Mann of the York based band "Siren" has become very good friends with Zack Burkett, has recently joined forces with the group, and is reported to be very excited to record the 3rd 2s2d Ep.
As far as lyrics go, Zack was quoted as saying "Im saying exactly what I want to this time, no let up on this record. There are a certain people that won't be so fond of us once they hear what im saying, but hey...the truth hurts"
The band is auditioning guitarists and bassists at the moment.
Pathology has issued the following explanation regarding the cancellation of their upcoming US tour with Master:
"We are forced to drop off our upcoming US tour with Master. One of the reasons. We can not afford it. The tour slowly became smaller and smaller, Our guaranty was basically cut in half at the last minute, and we never receiver our contract for the tour that we were promised. I guaranty Master has a contract. Which means if a show is not a success they get paid first before any one else."
"Members of Pathology have toured several times and completely understand that you do not make much money doing this. When you have to spend possibly hundreds, maybe thousands out of your own pocket to come play some show. That still are not completely booked... That's just not worth it." More...

"Hydra Lernaia" will be available everywhere on June 23rd.
As per its mythological definition - the mythical nine-headed serpent, slain by Hercules, that grew two heads in place of each one that was cut off, unless the wound was cauterized - Hydra Lernaia explores nine human feelings as many-sided problems that present new difficulties each time one aspect of them seems to be solved or overcome. Each song is a feeling; each feeling is an incurable disease that tortures the heart of man.
The "Hydra Lernaia" track listing is as follows:
1. When time elapses
2. Blistering hate
3. Existence asleep
4. The decline and the fall
5. Lam Tsol Oua
6. Through dark skies
7. Opposites from within
8. Echoes of distress

Cattle Decapitation has recently wrapped up 2+ months of touring which included tours with GWAR and Priestess and the more recent tour with Mayhem, Cephalic Carnage and Withered on Blackened Fest. The band issues their personal thanks to those who helped out while they were on the road:
“We'd like to thank everyone that came out to the shows during the past 2 and a half months. Canada was AMAZING. Thank you to all the promoters who helped out up there in a land which we knew very little about. THANK YOU. Rose Funeral, Woe of Tyrants, Psyopus - you are all great guys, thanks for coming out with us! We'd like to also thank Oderus Urungus for personally inviting us to do the Gwar tour! It was a blast and we actually felt accepted by the crowd much more this time around! Also, thanks to merchie, Ms. Shannon Rodriguez, for jumping on the tour with us and helping us out.
It's been a HUGE run and was actually a success for us, even the Blackenedfest turned out to be kick ass for us, it's unfortunate how it ended up.
Lastly, we'd like to thank the touring bass player we had with us, Rahsaan Davis. He is our international touring bass player and picked up on this run when our bass player Troy Oftedal came down with an intestinal ailment that left him out of the whole tour. Thanks man, you really came through on this.”
