Tapping The Vein will be mixing their upcoming release, for Nuclear Blast, with Neil Kernon, at RaxTrax in Chicago, IL starting July 14th 2007. "We're very excited to be working with Neil on this. Time and time again, on tour, we were told we sound much better live. I'd have to agree the band is heavier and more powerful live. I think we were able to capture that this time around with Neil,” says drummer Eric Fisher. “TTV took a new approach to the writing of this album and I am really pleased with the result. I think we've managed to streamline and ‘pump it up,’ so to speak, without sacrificing any of the emotional impact that we insist on," added vocalist Heather Thompson.
Look for a 4th quarter 2007 release worldwide. The band and management are currently looking for touring and packaging ideas for late in the year and early 2008. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any ideas.

Austin, TX outfit Bitter Tongues has changed their name, among other things, to Career Criminal. Here's a statement from the band:
"Bitter Tongues has been pretty inactive over the past year and a half due to a multitude of reasons. We finally added a new guitarist (Ribs Mason of Pride Kills, 10 Crowns, Iron Age fame) and we couldn't possibly be happier with our little Ribsy-poo. However, during our year and a half hiatus, we began writing/recording some songs that were worlds apart from our previous material. We planned to release it as Bitter Tongues, but it soon became apparent that this project is a completely seperate entity. So, folks, consider this your formal introduction to Career Criminal, a stripped-down oi/punk/hardcore influenced in no small part by Sham 69, The Four Skins, Cro-Mags and Slapshot."
The group will enter the studio with Stan Wright (Death Threat) later this month to complete a new EP. Meanwhile, the band has lined up the following shows:
6/26 Austin, TX @ Emo's w/ Fucked Up
7/21 Austin, TX @ Red Seven w/ Down to Nothing, Saint Street Brawlers
8/17 Austin, TX @ Red Seven w/ Reagan Youth, Doomsday Hour
Saturday, May 19 marked my first venture out to the new local metal spot in Frederick, Maryland - Krug's Place. They've been booking local metal bands there for nearly a year, but my last local show was at the Braddock Inn in December 2005, which had since stopped booking bands after several changes of ownership. Krug's is a decent sized place located on East Street - and much better suited for live performances than the Braddock Inn - with a total capacity nearing 300. The bar and billiards areas are separate from the room with the stage, however, so it would probably accomodate 150 people at most for the show. That would be pretty packed since there are tables in that room and the floor area directly in front of the stage ("the pit") is fairly small. More...

Whether it’s a cheap cry for publicity, or the fact that Drowning Pool think that the government will listen to the opinions of men with long hair and piercings, the band have come back from their USO tour with sincere concerns surrounding the return of the soldiers upon their return home from the middle-east.
“Once home in the United States, we connected with Iraq/Afghanistan war veterans who have returned home,” said Stevie Benton, Bassist and Founding Member of Drowning Pool. “Though back on safe shores, these individuals are facing a steep uphill battle to reclaim their health after facing the trauma of war.”
Recently, the office of the public liaison at The White House received a letter written by Drowning Pool addressing the issues of healthcare and concerns for the troops on their return home, which was placed in the President’s personal reading file. Several interior cabinets of The White House have been opened to the team of Drowning Pool. One of which contacted Congress directly and are now awaiting a Congressional hearing date, where Drowning Pool will testify to the majority and minority parties of the U.S. Congress, addressing the facts of treatment of the American soldiers upon their return home from the Middle East. The band hopes to accomplish a shift of political and national attention toward the problems at hand concerning the well-being of those who fight and give their lives for the United States. Drowning Pool is preparing for their meeting with Congress by asking their fans, friends, and families to sign their online petition regarding the issue.
The White House is not the only government outlet that has given attention to the letter written by the band. Several of the 2008 Presidential Candidates have accepted the letter and issue with open arms from Drowning Pool.
“We are seeking an opportunity to testify before Congress on behalf of these troops and veterans who need mental, emotional and medical support services,” said Benton. That goal will be accomplished with the return of Congress from over the weekend as the calendars and agendas in Washington are being marked to welcome Drowning Pool during the course of the next 6 months.
Drowning Pool are currently touring and preparing for the release of their new record, "Full Circle", which features the single “Soldiers” that they wrote for the troops after being inspired by them on the USO tour. If you would like to support Drowning Pool's efforts for the American troops over seas, regardless of your political denomination, please follow the link and sign their petition http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/DrowningPool2007/.
