The fate of the recently crowd-funded Austrian Death Machine album was up in the air after Tim Lambesis was arrested for allegedly trying to hire an undercover officer to murder his wife.
Apparently the album is still on track however, as the Austrian Death Machine Facebook page has now been updated with this statement:
"Tim finished all of his parts back before he went on tour in Asia. He was just waiting for me to do my parts and put together the finishing touches on the mix of the album. I'm working on that this starting this week now that I have the files. The CD should be done soon and then we'll start planning to manufacture.

Today the rabble-rousers at The Obelisk hurl forth a hump day surprise in the form of a full stream of "Deteriorate" from Italian sludge dealers Grime. Check it out at this location.
Self-described by Grime as the sound of “a decaying swamp filled with trash,” the "Deteriorate" release was recorded at Igloo Audiofactory in Italy by Enrico Baraldi and mixed and mastered by sound wizard Billy Anderson.
"Deteriorate" will see official release on LP via Forcefield Records on a new date of July 9th, 2013. It will be available in two different color variants on 180 gram vinyl encased with black dust sleeves and full color jackets with a poster and download card. U.K. death thrashers Arceye have posted part 1 of a 2 part studio blog which takes the viewer behind the scenes for "At First Light," the band's upcoming new album. Check it out below.
Part 1 of the blog shows footage of drums being tracked at Foel Studios in Wales with producer Chris Fielding (Napalm Death, Cerebral Bore, Darkest Era). "We had previously mixed the first album 'The Divide Between Chaos & Order' there and enjoyed working with the engineer Chris Fielding so it was a good option to use this time round," states drummer Craig Mackay. "We also know a lot of bands (Xerath, Envy Of The State, etc.) who have used the same studio and have gotten some great results."
"At First Light" is the second full-length from Arceye and will be released worldwide on August 7th via Hostile Media. Commenting on the album the band said: “This album we feel we have really trimmed the fat on our songwriting and made it the best it could be! If we didn’t think that it kicked ass it didn’t make the cut! We also stepped up the production value and worked with Scott Atkins (Sylosis, Cradle Of Filth, Amon Amarth, Gama Bomb) on the mix and master. The meaning of ‘At First Light’ is a representation of where we felt we were as a band when we were writing the album. Since our last release we have gained two new members, both with a writing influence and we’ve developed more of a vision of the music we wanted to play.”
Last week the band posted "Since The Divide," a clip revealing behind the scenes footage of the writing process and some pre-production work on the album. That clip can be seen at this location. More...
Massachusetts 5-piece A Wanted Awakening has announced the addition of guitarist Mat Woodard of Charlton, Massachusetts to the band.
Mat was formerly a member of Still Silent and Our Name is Legion. He is a longtime friend of the band and AWA looks forward to writing new music with him. Mat also comments:
“It is an absolute honor to be a part of this band, I've been a fan and friend of these guys for a very long time and the transition into the lineup felt natural and familiar. I'm excited to be able to shred next to some of my best friends and help achieve the goals A Wanted Awakening desires. Everyone has been awesome at welcoming me into the AWA family and I know I'll do the fans proud by filling some very big shoes that Derek left behind.”
Hells Headbangers has announced July 23rd as the international release date for Nunslaughter's "The Devils Congeries Vol. 1." The following press release was issued about the collection:
"At long last, Hells Headbangers opens the vaults and collects a whopping thirteen Nunslaughter 7" EPs to answer the black prayers of the band's rabid, diehard fanbase! Entitled The Devils Congeries Vol. 1, this 2-CD set is the first of many exhaustive collections that will compile every single short-length Nunslaughter vinyl release - a band whose discography is bested number-wise only by Japan's Sabbat and Belgium’s Agathocles.
"Nunslaughter's best work is considered by many to be their 7" EPs, and The Devils Congeries Vol. 1 displays the band's trademark Devil Metal in all its diabolical 'n' dirty glory, collecting EPs and splits from the late '90s and early 2000s, and capped off by their classic Killed By The Cross 7" debut. Short, sharp shocks are the order of the day here, with 29 studio tracks across disc 1 and the majority of the Hell On... live series on disc 2, thereby making this the definitive studio vs. live Nunslaughter statement. Topped off by an elaborate booklet archiving each EP’s cover artwork and record pressing information, The Devils Congeries Vol. 1 is mandatory metal worship!" More...
Finnish act Damnation Plan has covered two Arnold Schwarzenegger movie themes, "Judgement Day" (Terminator theme) and "The Butcher Of Bakersfield" (The Running Man theme).
You can download MP3 files of the tracks over at the band's Facebook profile here. Drummer/song writer Jarkko Lunnas comments:
"The Terminator theme idea came up when roughly 5 years ago during Finnish Labour's Day celebration we ended up jamming the theme at our rehearsal room and recorded it. After that our friend Jaakko Jernberg suggested we should record it properly and release it! Well, during 'The Wakening' sessions we did.
"After the Terminator version, we figured maybe we should do also a more profound tribute song for another Arnold movie, 'The Running Man.' It's one of those classic movies you grew up with and of which you remember all the actors' one-liners! The movie's great theme music by Harold Faltermayer along the visual and sci-fi side of it have always been inspirational. Considering that the original story (by Stephen King) and the movie were made in the 80s, its topic is actually quite current today, about the uprising reality-TV culture and the increasingly controlled and monitored society." Swedish act The Gardnerz has made new single "Exiting Reality" available for free download at
Bandcamp here. You can also stream it below. The "Exiting Reality" single features two all new tracks and was recorded at Funky Cat studios, Armageddon Studio and Natas Senip Studio.
The band had this to say about the single: "With this release we want to affirm our standing as the most interesting and versatile doom/death band around these days. When most bands play it safe, we try to go our own way and incorporate all kinds of twists and turns into our music. I think this is our best sounding release and our most interesting work to date. This being our second release with this line up, I feel that we have really hit our stride and everyone knows what to do to make the sweet music we call deadly doom.
"Lyrically both songs are linked and therefore being Part one and two, Part one deals with an awakening. To see things for what they are, what impact your actions has on your surroundings and the ones around you. Part two is about the liberation from all that. A closure if you like. We feel certain that these two songs will leave you longing for more of our epic doom/death metal." More...

Lifeforce Records is proud to announce the signing of German post-metal band Thranenkind. The label issued the following press release:
"Thränenkind's music is a mixture of crustcore, post rock, post black metal and hardcore punk. The earlier recordings had more black metal and shoegaze influences, while the 'The Elk' album contains a lot more crust and hardcore punk and offers also five completely instrumental post rock songs. The focus lies on creating atmosphere and melancholy.
"Thränenkind was founded in 2007 by Nathanael and Pesten. 2008 the first demo-cd was recorded, which got mainly positive reviews. 2009 the first live show was played. In 2010 the demo CD was re-released as an EP and shortly afterwards the split-CD with post black metal/post rock band Heretoir followed. In 2012 the first full-length album 'The Elk' was recorded, which will be released in August 2013 via Lifeforce Records.
"Most of the band members are vegan and/or straight edge and they share interests in the ideas of green anarchism, civilization critical thoughts and left-wing politics. The lyrics focus on issues like interpersonal relations, human society, anarchism or the relationship between humanity and nature.
"The band name could be translated to something like 'child of tears.' It was chosen as a contrast to all the grim and cliché black metal band names. It hints at Thränenkind's emotional side. The band members are fascinated of the name's ambiguity and they also like the fact, that the name leaves room for a lot of different interpretations." More...

Australia's Cursing Stone posted a new music video for the new single "Stars." The single was released as a digital download via iTunes.
The band describes its style as follows: "Harnessing a broad cross-section of ‘rock’ styles, the band defies classification or alignment to any genre or sub genre. This is due in part to a multitude of influences ranging from Rock, Metal, Jazz, Pop to Classical and Opera.
The Cursing Stone use this eclectic musical palette to illustrate the deep motifs found in the lyrics, and is not afraid to explore different avenues, composing songs with soaring cinematic textures or dry punk-style aggression. A hauntingly beautiful female vocal blended with an explosive rhythm section all make this a highly unique outfit."
Cursing Stone is:
Natalie Whitton - Vocals
Corey Wyer - Guitars/Backing vocals
Dave Thomas - Drums
Pablo Steiner - Bass
