Billboard.com reports: Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones turned an already high-profile Foo Fighters show into a once-in-a-lifetime event Saturday night (June 7) at London's Wembley Stadium, joining the Foos for covers of Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll" and "Ramble On."
Drummer Taylor Hawkins took the microphone for the former, while frontman Dave Grohl sang the latter. Grohl, a lifelong Zeppelin fanatic who was on hand for the group's one-off reunion last December in London, told the crowd Satruday's experience constituted "the greatest day of my entire life."

In over fifteen years of playing in KATAKLYSM's birthplace, Montreal, that had to be (on Saturday) the most intense crowd response ever to the point that club owners have now established mandatory barricades for every metal concert (sorry, guys). Brenda Glover, mother of Deep Purple bassist Roger Glover, passed away yesterday. Roger issued the following statement on his website:
"My sad news; my mother, Brenda Glover, passed away on the 10th June, 2008. She was 86 and spent two and a half years fighting cancer. My life has been put on hold for the last three months as my sister Christine and I have been caring for her in her home in the UK. I am deeply indebted to my band-mates for allowing me this time off. My daughter Gillian and the rest of the family have been unswerving in their love and support. Everyone’s mother is special but Brenda had a way of being a special mother to everyone. I am a fortunate son indeed."
Only months before Cleveland metal band Chimaira celebrates their 10 year anniversary, the band will release a Digital Deluxe version of 2007’s, "Resurrection" (Ferret Music), via iTunes. The iTunes exclusive version of the album, which releases June 10th, will include two bonus tracks, "Kingdom Of Heartache" and "Paralyzed," as well as well as a video guitar lesson from the band’s renowned guitarist, Rob Arnold. IcedEarth.com has posted the cover art for the band's forthcoming full-length studio album, "The Crucible of Man (Something Wicked Part II)," which continues where their 2007 release, "Framing Armageddon (Something Wicked Part I)," left off. "The Crucible of Man" features the return of frontman Matt Barlow who was Schaffer's original voice of choice to introduce the "Something Wicked" saga back in 1998 as a trio of songs which concluded their album, "Something Wicked This Way Comes."
While the 1998 album provided a general overview of the story Schaffer has been conceptualizing for well over a decade, the saga is being fully brought to life with the release of the back-to-back conceptual albums "Framing Armageddon" and "The Crucible of Man." While both albums provide answers to mysteries the previous releases would create, the timeliness of the story in today's world is guaranteed to keep people thinking and guessing. Schaffer's ability to convey the central themes and events of the story without always revealing exactly "why" characters' decisions are made and "how" events come to pass, will keep fans of the saga coming back as future mediums for the "Something Wicked" storyline are revealed.
A finalized tracklisting for "The Crucible of Man" and audio interview with Jon Schaffer covering the new material will be featured at IcedEarth.com later this month. The band will begin rehearsals next week for a run of dates in June as direct support for Judas Priest in Europe, as well as the Hellfest, Bang Your Head, Graspop, and Gods of Metal European festivals. Reunited Christian metallers Living Sacrifice have posted two new songs online at their official Myspace. The songs are entitled "Death Machine" and "The Battle" and are the bands first new songs in six years.

"The song writing process is done and we're 90% done with the lyrics. Once again we will enter DUB Studio in our hometown Kristiansand and have booked it for two months starting July 1st. All recordings will be done in DUB studio and for the mixing we have different options that will be consulted as the process goes on.
Now, we just hope to get together and practice a little in the time that's left before the recording starts. We aim at a playing time of 55 minutes, but most likely it will be over 60 minutes this time as well. More info on song titles, music, etc to come."
As we all know, thousands of AC/DC fans are angered by the bands decision to sell their new album exclusively through Wal-Mart. Now other journalists have chimed in with their two cents over the deal.
Mark Caro of the Chicago Tribune’s blog Pop Machine says: “This is unbelievable! The classic headbangers’ new album won’t be available at any sort of rock music store, but you can pick it up along with a box of Huggies?” Maybe this has more to do with the “death of the record store” than it does AC/DC, but still, it’s hard not to think that the band “has sold its twisted soul.”
The blog TheLefsetzLetter was also critical stating: "AC/DC are the biggest band still alive in the minds of teenagers. The closest Wal-Mart to me is almost twenty miles away! And the fact that AC/DC is one of the few bands that still “doesn’t offer its catalog on iTunes” makes the whole situation that much more frustrating. " More...

From December 5th through 7th, Butlins Holiday Resort in Minehead will play host to the event. You can already expect sets from "America’s Funnyman" Neil Hamburger, post-metal titans Isis, Big Business, and The Locust.
