The Associated Press Reports that Axl Rose made a surprise radio appearance to proclaim that Guns N' Roses' 10-years-in-the-making album, "Chinese Democracy," album will finally hit stores this fall.
The comments Saturday on Eddie Trunk's syndicated radio show marked one of the first interviews Rose has given since his failed 2002 comeback tour, which was abruptly scrapped midway amid riots and canceled shows.
Rose's impromptu appearance came when former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach, who was co-hosting the show, called Rose's cell phone and patched the call through the studio.
Quizzed on when the near-mythical album would come out, Rose said, "Sometime this fall or late fall." His band could be heard rehearsing in the background. "It will be out this year."

THE ACACIA STRAIN, has tacked on a three-week run with Soilent Green and Demiricous to the band's itinerary to support the June 13 release of The Dead Walk. Prior to that, the band will provide support for The Red Chord on a handful of dates in select markets. Upon completion of those shows, THE ACACIA STRAIN will meet up with director Dave Brodsky (All That Remains, Bury Your Dead) May 19 in the band's hometown of Springfield, Mass. to shoot footage for the video to "Angry Mob Justice," from The Dead Walk.
“There are so many people today who are afraid to take their own stance. So many people just float through life with no meaning," vocalist Vincent Bennett said about the new album. "They have no opinions of their own, nothing is theirs. Yet at the same time, there are so many people who are so self-righteous, it’s sickening. The Dead Walk focuses on that.”
Again produced by Adam Dutkiewicz (Killswitch Engage), who was also responsible for THE ACACIA STRAIN's 2004 album 3750, The Dead Walk features extensive design and artwork from Paul Romano (Mastodon, The Red Chord) alongside the band's bowel-shakingly heavy trademark sound. In the time since the band's last album, The Acacia Strain has dropped its provisional third guitar player, and in turn rotated in Seth Coleman and Kevin Boutot on bass and drums respectively, resulting in a sleeker, albeit more efficient band. “Seth and Kevin are two of the best things that happened to this band,” Bennett says. “I honestly wouldn’t want anyone else playing in this band. This is the most solid lineup we have ever had and I don’t plan on it ever changing.”
The Dead Walk will be released through Prosthetic Records on June 13, 2006 in North America and a day earlier in European territories. Exclusive pre-order packages are now available on ProstheticRecords.com for a limited time, while two new tracks, "Angry Mob Justice" and "Whoa! Shut It Down" are available on THE ACACIA STRAIN's MySpace page.

I'll try to make this statement as short as possible... I'd like to thank Charles and Tony for bringing me in back in -98 and I owe them both a great deal of gratitude for giving me the chance to experience so much, I can't ever repay You guys for that, nor can I thank You enough, thanx for all the fun times though!!!More...

The Associated Press reports: Watching her severely burned daughter go through 35 operations over two months before doctors took the young woman off life support was "a journey of hell," Ann Gruttadauria told a Providence, R.I., court today (May 8) as a sentencing hearing began for a man she holds responsible.
Her 33-year-old daughter had gone to the Station nightclub in West Warwick, R.I., for a Great White concert on Feb. 20, 2003. The band had just started its first set when tour manager Daniel Biechele set off a pyrotechnics display that sparked the state's deadliest fire. Pamela Gruttadauria was its 100th victim.
About 30 people planned to read statements in court today and tomorrow, and a representative from the attorney general's office planned to read prepared remarks from others.
Biechele, 29, pleaded guilty in February to 100 counts of involuntary manslaughter and faces up to 10 years in prison. Before the judge sentences him, though, Biechele is hearing from the victims' relatives. Biechele now lives in Florida and works at a flooring company while taking accounting classes at night, his lawyers said in a recent court filing. He has written personal letters of apology to the victims' families. The attorney general's office is seeking the maximum sentence under Biechele's plea deal, saying he acted callously and recklessly. Biechele's lawyers are asking for community service rather than jail time, saying he never intended to harm anyone and could not have known about the foam on the club's walls.
Criminal charges are still pending against the club's owners, brothers Jeffrey and Michael Derderian. Both have pleaded not guilty.

For the last two weeks, Polish death metallers VADER have been working at Hertz Studio in Bialystok, Poland, recording their new album, tentatively titled "Impressions In Blood". The bandmamebers have issued the following comments regarding the process thus far:
Piotr Wiwczarek (guitar, vocals): "14 day of recordings at Hertz Studio in Bialystok. We've prepared 11 tracks and a bonus track which will be featured on the Asian version of the album. All the drum parts have been already completed and...what can I say? You should expect about 45 minutes of total carnage! The fastest VADER's stuff ever, even a little bit faster than 'Litany' album!!! Currently we are working on guitar sound and kicking off a pretty arduous, but probably the most interesting part of the process, I mean arranging our new songs and album as a whole. Impressions are going to be very bloody!!!"
Daray (drums) summed up his work: "The band entered the studio on 24th of [April]. First two days we spent on preparing everything, soundcheck and so on. Then I started recording my drum tracks which all in all took me 10 days... It's going to be the fastest album I've ever recorded, you will hear there a lot of blastbeats and fast double pedal drumming. This time for the recording I used OSCA 5B drumsticks, TAMA Starclassic drumkit with Ludwig 'Black Beauty' snare drum, Alchemy Professional cymbals, Aquarian Response II pads on toms and Hi-Energy on snare, Roland RT-7K triggers, D-DRUM module and finally, my current favourite thing — AXIS X-Longboards pedals which helped me to achieve a staggering level of speed."
The recording session will last until May 24, after which VADER will team up with DESTRUCTION and KATAKLYSM for a tour in America. Simuntaneously producers Slawek and Wojtek Wieslawscy will take care of mixes and mastering. The complete new album, featuring artwork/ design of Greek artist Seth (ROTTING CHRIST, PARADISE LOST) should be ready in the middle of July. "Impressions In Blood" will be released through Regain Records on September 4. On September 17, the band will kick off a huge European tour which will run through December 20.
Deathwish Inc. has announced plans to re-issue Modern Life Is War's "My Love, My Way" album. The release will feature new packaging, bonus tracks, and complete remastering. Look for the effort to surface this summer.
