Washoe Post Demo MP3s

Washoe, the Swedish collaboration featuring Entombed guitarist Uffe Cederlud plus the former Misery Loves Company trio of Patrik Wiren (vocals), Patrick Thorngren (bass) and Olle Dahlstedt (drums) have posted five demos for download on their official website. The band intend to record a full album later in the year.

Ephel Duath Do Video, Concept Album

Ephel Duath is presently filming a promo video for the track "Embossed" in Venice. Respected director Massimiliano Valli is at the helm, and we've been told to expect something weird, dark and diverse. Ephel Duath is also hard at work on the material for their next album, entitled "The Painter's Palette", a conceptual album based on colour. Each track will symbolize it's own colour, and the album as a whole will be the full "painting".

Elitist Signs Umbral Presence

Elitist has signed the Russian avant-garde band Umbral Presence. The band is essentially a project of Rakoth's Rustam Shakirzyanov, and gives him a chance to flex his creative muscles in a different way that with Rakoth. The as-yet untitled album will be recorded in September for an early 2003 release.

Staley Died From Mix of Heroin, Cocaine

TotalRock has posted an update on new information about Layne Staley's death. A coroner’s report has officially established that Alice In Chains frontman Layne Staley died from a mix of heroin and cocaine. Staley actually passed away on April 5, although his body wasn't found until the 19th.
