Chilean metal legends Vastator have released a third official video from their album "Machine Hell." The video is for the track "Puñado de Almas," which was directed by Carlos Toro at Abysmo Producciones. "Puñado de Almas" loosely translates into "Fistful of Souls" in English. Vocalist Senor Diaz had this to say: "This video marks the end of an era; a new beginning where hell will burn even hotter than ever." Vastator is currently working on new material as well, but is streaming all eleven tracks of its album "Machine Hell" over at Digmetalworld.
Phobia has put the fear into grindcore since the early 80s. Phobia gained a reputation for having no problem discussing their views on politics and economics through their music; often having a controversial opinion. And although there is just one original member left, the band is still going strong and just about to release their latest album; almost a retrospective of the band's history. I caught up with founding member Shane Mclachlan to talk about why this album is so important to Phobia, the writing process, and why he just doesn't like gutterpunks. More...

The band has decided to continue on with the remainder of the trek with tour manager and close friend Dan Valente filling in on bass and vocal duties.
Jon Macak stated, "I am very sad to say that I will not be able to be a part of the last six Killfest dates. I will be flying home to Chicago Sunday morning to be with my mother who is very ill and needs my support. There is a chance that she does not have much time left so I want to be by her side as much as possible. The rest of the band will finish the tour without me and I want to thank everyone for their support and understanding."
Diamond Plate also added, "We all wish Jon and his family strength through this incredibly hard time. Words can't describe how much Jon's presence will be missed on stage as a frontman, but most importantly our best friend. After these shows without him, we will come back stronger than ever and with a new understanding of what it means to be a band. Threat Signal has posted a new music video online for "Uncensored," which can be viewed below. “The video for ‘Uncensored’ captures my lyrical inspiration for the song almost exactly,” said vocalist Jon Howard.
“People walk around every single day with their eyes closed; they are censored from reality. Most people truly believe, or have just convinced themselves, that the world is a great place, but in all honestly, most of it is not. Hate, greed, corruption, disease, war, lies, pollution, slavery, violence, crime, famine and many other issues plague our race. People need to wake up, look at real facts, and gather their own conclusions instead of believing hearsay or the media at face value. Most news is filtered and watered down.
"The director, Tommy Jones, saw my vision and ran with the ideas; he couldn’t have done a better job! Also you’ll see I ran into a major inspiration of mine in the street while filming. Enjoy." More...

Not to Mention we'll have The Gates of Slumber with as well to keep the smooth trail rolling...it's going to be a good time for sure. Hopefully Texas won't be too fucking hot, and melt the Japanese.”

Death metal has had a progressive sub-genre for decades. Back in the early ‘90s, bands like Cynic and Atheist were getting verbally abused for being something other than tough-guy, Satanic-loving filth. Nowadays, this sub-genre is much more accepted, and one of the best rising bands from this area of death metal is NYC’s Hung. With a technical spin, and a prominent violin acting almost as a second guitar, Hung’s self-titled debut is not what one would call a predictable affair. I had the chance to speak to bassist Sam Roon about the band’s first album, their long history together, and the effect of having a female violinist on their public image. More...

The title "Surreal" unites all the components that are being used on the construction of the tracks.
Vocalist Odommok commented, "This work talks about the destruction of a terrible zeitgeist based on religion and violence. Question the infallible divine power armed with reason and free thinking. Tell the history and genesis of the structural religion's organization. A symphonic storm over the infallible Gods."

Italy's Stormlord has issued the following update about the band's upcoming new album:
"Legions of the Storm,
"First of all, we want to show you our deepest gratitude for having so much patience. It's been a while since our last update and now we're ready to unveil some details about our next album.
"In the last years we left behind our live activity in order to focus more on the songwriting and to develop the synergy of the new line-up: now we're pleased to announce that all the material has been written while the preproduction process and the lyrics writing are on their way.
"We're very proud of how the new stuff sounds and we firmly believe that these will be the best songs of our career, so far: those who enjoyed the epic and Mediterranean feeling of 'Mare Nostrum' (2008) and the dynamic flavour of 'Supreme Art Of War' (1999) will not be disappointed, that's a promise! Drummer Phil Dubois-Coyne from Revocation has checked in with Metalunderground.com for another exclusive look at the band's headlining tour with Cannabis Corpse and Ramming Speed. The previous road report can be read here. Phil had this to say:
"Hey douchebags! Phil here, back again with the final blog of our headlining tour. I know your all getting sick of them at this point, but don’t worry this is the last one until June, so just shut up and read it.
"Well, as I left off last time, we had just gang banged our stomachs with delicious burgers from Kuma’s Korner in Chicago. Unfortunately, right as I was riding the high from that amazing meat orgy, I had a shocking encounter which completely soiled my opinion of the windy city. Now to all you RevoManiacs in Chicago, I mean no offense. I have many a fond memory eating your unnecessarily huge pizzas, and drunkenly wandering the streets of your unnecessarily huge city. BUT, I was never made aware that Chicago houses some of the most insidious, subliminal planting of racist ideologies into young, defenseless minds that I have ever seen. I mean honestly, this is completely unacceptable!

Offering up 12 tracks of sonic brutality, the record was produced by Mark Lewis (Deicide, Devildriver) and mixed by Jason Suecof (Whitechapel, Job For A Cowboy), at Audio Hammer Studios in Sanford, Florida.
Commented vocalist Chris Barnes: “Creating an album is a lot of work and a lot of focus, but we didn’t really have too many hiccups in the recording. It went really smooth, and it was pretty much the most effortless album we’ve ever tracked. I had a great, great time working on this album; it was so much fun because everything seemed so new again.” More...
Florida death metal act Obituary has issued the following recap of recent live shows and announcement about working on the follow-up to the "Darkest Day" album (reviewed here):
"We really had a good time on that run through South America. There were some really good shows, a few cancelled shows too...but, all in all a really good time. We wound up taking 19 flights in 20 days and that was not fun, but the shows we did were awesome! Thanks to Lee Harrison for doing the shows with us. Lee was playing guitar with us and he sounded great! Thank you brother!
"We are home now working some more on the new album. We are in no hurry and it will get done when it gets done! We have a show in Miami coming up and then we head to Europe for about 5 weeks! I hope you can make it out to one of the many shows we have scheduled!

A year later, the band released their first 12' EP "Ephemeral Cerebral Butchery". Several demos, EPs and split CDs followed, leading to the release of their debut album "Zero" in the summer of 1999 through Noise Variations.
Within the following years, MASTIC SCUM released their albums "Scar" (Cudgel Agency, 2002), "Mind" (Cudgel Agency, 2005) and the latest album "Dust" (Twilight Rec., 2009), which was nominated for an Amadeus Austrian Music Award in 2010.

Just across the causeway from Singapore sits the Malaysian “small town” of Johor Bahru, though its population of nearly 1.5 million shows us just how the Western definition of “small town” differs from that of deepest, densest Asia. Thanks to its proximity to the Lion City, just about an hour’s drive away including the time it takes to cross the border on a good day, JB presents a great opportunity for bands touring in Asia to cross another country off their list of places played without traveling too far, and to get an excellent introduction to the Malaysian scene. Here are three hardworking bands currently plying their trade in the southern gateway to the Malay Peninsula. More...
