Michigan based metal band, Besieged, have recently gone through some line up changes. Josh from Besieged comments, “We've gone through a bunch of lineup changes over the past few months, so it's been tricky getting shows lined up. We're no longer accepting myspace auditions, as we'll be turning to our close friends and former band mates for fill-in spots at shows for the time being.”
Josh continues the update with the following statements about cancellations of shows, “We currently have about 3 CDs worth of new material, but we're waiting for a solid lineup before we commit to any one song. Needless to say, shows this summer will most likely be few and far between. We apologize to everyone who was looking forward to seeing us at some of the shows we've had to cancel.” More...

Cynic, the famed technical/prog metal band, recently signed to record label Season Of Mist. Here's what Season Of Mist had to say on the catch:
"Season of Mist is really proud to announce that a new cult band just joined the roster. Let's welcome legendary American progressive jazzy death metal band Cynic! Most of the label's team have been a fan of the band's milestone and so far only album, "Focus", so needless to say we at Season of Mist are all extremely excited about this new collaboration.
Cynic frontman Paul Masvidal made the following comment on signing over to the new label:
"We're pleased to be back in business with Season of Mist as our record company. They have tremendous enthusiasm and passion for our work. Our bottom line was a company that understood what Cynic does and believes in it 100%. We found that with SOM. We're deep in the pre-production album process now and will be headed into the studio in a couple weeks to dive even deeper and start the recordings with our talented friend Warren Riker at the engineering / mixing helm. The journey of writing this record has taken Reinert and I to new heights of exploration, straight into the heart of Cynic's soul. We're thrilled to be able to share this new work with the best fans in the world. Stay tuned."
Cynic's debut album for their new label should see a release sometime next Autumn. In the meantime, you can check out a sample of the demo to the new track "Integral Birth" on their official MySpace page. The band is set to enter the studio this Summer with Grammy Award winning producer Warren Riker (Down, Santana) to begin work on their long-awaited follow-up to 1993's "Focus". The album will reportedly comprise eight tracks, and the band is again working with artist Venosa, who created the unmistakeable cover and visuals for "Focus." Live performances, including a special appearance at Wacken Open Air, Germany, on next August 1st, will precede the upcoming album.
Luke Kenny, vocalist and frontman for Australia's The Berzerker, has posted the following blog on the band's MySpace page:
"Firstly we'd like to say a big thanks to all the guys in New Zealand on showing us a great time. Secondly I'm very excited to tell you that we will be launching our brand new record label, "Berzerker Industries," within the next few months. The first release will be our new studio album. (I can't fucking wait!). The only way you'll be able to get hold of this album is by direct mail order via Myspace and our Website. This will not be in stores. Also we will be holding a re-mix competition with the winner getting their re-mixed Berzerker version on our new cd. There will also be re-mixes from some of the biggest names in the gabba/speedcore scene. ROOAAGGGGHH!! I will be posting more info about all of this very soon, so stay tuned.
"Please Enjoy this sneek peak track set to some New Zealand madness. Once again thanks for your support over all these years.

So far it's been a blast. The first two shows were with Testament, and they were excellent. We are sharing a bus with Death Angel and they are really some of the nicest guys I have ever met. There is a lot of positive energy and enthusiasm that they carry with them. Man, do they destroy live! I wasn't too familiar with them before the tour, but I can see why they are considered legends. Prosthetic Records has announce the release of the vinyl edition of LAMB OF GOD’s debut album, "New American Gospel," featuring all 10 songs remastered along with “Nippon,” a bonus track previously only available on Japanese pressings of the record, and three early demo tracks across a double LP gatefold with altered artwork and exclusive poster. The LP edition is limited to 1,000 copies worldwide and is now available online.
Since the 2000 release of "New American Gospel," LAMB OF GOD has gone on to release "As The Palaces Burn" and the "Terror And Hubris" before signing with Epic Records for the band’s next three albums, "Ashes Of The Wake," "Killadelphia," and "Sacrament," as well as the forthcoming DVD release "Walk With Me In Hell," as well as several appearances on Ozzfest and hugely successful headlining tours both Stateside and in Europe.
Originally recorded in 1997 and released on Honey Bear Records,"Nervous Circuits" unveiled the kind of punked-up robotic noise and feverish melodies that anticipated the vast and varied keyboard-enhanced punk/rock stylings of These Arms Are Snakes, The Faint and Death From Above 1979. Featuring former Angel Hair members Sonny Kay (vocals) and Joshua Hughes (guitar) alongside bassist/keyboardist Andrew Rothbard and drummer Dave Clifford, The VSS filtered Black Flag’s nihilism through a litany of crooks, hooks, edges and angularities (and their own light show, as seen on the bonus live DVD) to create “an environment of total saturation of sound, light and motion.”
The VSS began in Boulder, Colorado in January 1995 and ended unceremoniously in July 1997. In that time the band relocated to San Francisco, toured the U.S. twice and Europe/UK once, released a series of 7-inch EPs and issued "Nervous Circuits," its only full-length album.
To this day, The VSS is commonly known for two things, 1) its inventive use of horror-film keyboards, angular guitar, unusual rhythmic shifts and vocal effects in creating a dark, jarring sound that merged punk, goth, psychedelia and experimental rock, and 2) its "crazy" light show, an unprecedented notion for the underground basement show set. These two components are said to be influential on the aesthetics of myriad bands to follow in the decade since the band's demise. Of course, the synthesizer was nothing new in punk rock. However, by the mid-90s, the synthesizer was such anathema to musicians still reveling in the faux-grit of grunge, that to the members of The VSS, adding keyboards to underground noise-punk seemed the perfect prescription for what had become a staggeringly dull scene.
The live footage included on the enclosed bonus DVD has been assembled from VHS tapes traded and distributed by fans over the years. Considering that many of the copies were fifth or perhaps even tenth generation and shot on consumer VHS camcorders at all ages venues, the video content is far from professional. However, the video clips capture the essence of The VSS aesthetic -- to create an environment of total saturation of sound, light and motion within a realm far distanced from the tedious trappings of arena rock posturing and production values. The footage represents a good deal of the disorienting, unnerving and cathartic live experience of The VSS... perhaps an essential component to placing "Nervous" Circuits in context today.
* The VSS members currently play in: Year Future (Kay), Red Sparowes (Clifford), Rabbits (Hughes) and Andrew Douglas Rothbard (solo).

Season of Mist recently announced the signing of ARKAN, led by ex-THE OLD DEAD TREE drummer Foued Moukid. Here is the man's comment on the band's signing to the label:
"Season of Mist is a label well known for the variety and the prestige of its catalogue. ARKAN's first album "Hilal" is a mix of tones and moods, a journey between the magic of the south and the power of the north. It was obvious for us to sign with such a record company. What's more, working with such enthusiastic people about music is more than sharing a professional relationship, it is a human adventure. For all these reasons, we are very proud to work with Season of Mist."
The band's first album is entitled "Hilal" and will hit the stores on June 16th.
One of Stand and Deliver Records' newest additions, Flatline, has just finished recording their debut album "Pave the Way." Flatline guitarist Paulo Guerra states, "Working with Logan[Mader] for this record has allowed our initial vision to explode beyond what any of us could have imagined."

Manager Jim Guerinot tells Billboard.com that the timing for the free digitial download felt right because "we just put a record out [and] we're going on-sale with tickets."
He adds that Reznor's "been in a prolific phase and we didn't want 'business' to get in the way of getting the art in the hands of the fans. We've looked at the climate and the many advantages of being able to do whatever we want without bureaucracy."
Guerinot also reports to Billboard.com that Reznor "worked again with his team of Alan Moulder and Atticus Ross out of his garage" on "The Slip" and says word of the album came late.
"[Trent] let me know there was some new music coming and the next thing I knew there was a full-length record done. . . . It's very exciting to be finishing mixing on Thursday, mastering Friday, finishing artwork on Saturday and having the world hear it [Monday morning]!"
As previously reported, you can fill out a form to download Nine Inch Nails' "The Slip" for free at theslip.nin.com.
