Nuclear Blast Records has resigned Peter Tägtgren and his industrial metal band PAIN. After more than ten years since the release of the self-titled PAIN debut on Nuclear Blast, the Swedish mastermind and HYPOCRISY-mainman is already busy working on his comeback album that is scheduled for a release in October 2008.
PAIN has also just returned from an immensely successful European tour as a support act for NIGHTWISH, which lead them through 18 countries and was witnessed by approximately 150,000 people.
New York’s KRALLICE, the black metal outfit masterminded by guitar genius Mick Barr (OCRILIM, ORTHRELM etc.) and technical music wizard Colin Marston (BEHOLD… THE ARCTOPUS, DYSRHYTHMIA, BYLA, etc.), has completed work on their debut album.
The labels states in a press release: "In what will become one of the most cursed releases in the realm of black metal this year, the vision conjured up by Barr and Marston is an overwhelming amalgam of epic time-stretching visceral black metal that recalls the spirit brought forth with such acts as Burzum (first three albums), Weakling, Gorgoroth (particularly the “Antichrist” album), Ulver (particularly “Nattens Madrigal”) with of course the musical wizardry that Barr and Marston are known to portray with their prolific repertoire as its known, throughout the many circles within progressive and experimental music in which said musicians dwell within."
"Although Krallice does present a new voice for Barr and Marston (especially seeing that they pretty much dabble within instrumental music), Krallice not only adds to their prolific repertoire, but also strengthens it. With its layered, tremolo weaving, hypnotic and twisted guitar (dis)harmonics, vicious use of melody, elongated time-structures and Barr’s unique cavermous harsh wails, the debut Krallice album is a massive and surging work of demented unforgiving black metal art."
The tracklisting for the debut Krallice album is as follows:
1. Wretched Wisdom
3. Molec Codicies
5. Energy Chasms
6. Forgiveness In Rot
Look for the Krallice album to officially be released late July and an MP3 to be posted online very soon.

The CD will be limited and numbered at 666 copies, and will be released through Dave’s own label SixSixSix Records, which he set up in 2005. The album will only be available initially online.

Metal Church have posted the following update:
"Kurdt (Vanderhoof, guitars) is putting the final touches on our new release. We can't wait for you guys to hear it. This Present Wasteland rocks and we are all very proud of this work.
"Our new guitar player Rick Van Zandt came in and did a bang up job on his leads (they're killer) and we even have a couple guest guitar solos from some well known shredders! You are all in for a treat.
"We will fill you in on all the details at a later date.
"So stay tuned everybody for an actual release date and tour info. Make sure you check out a few pics from the last days of recording.
Keep metal alive. "
All That Remains frontman Phil Labonte has posted the following update:
"We're in Florida workin on a new RECORD!!!" Labonte says. "The guys got here on Wednesday and we started pre-production. It didn't take long for the stuff to come together. Jason is a great producer and he has had some really great ideas that we tried out and all most every time they worked out wonderfully.
"It's lookin' like it's gonna be 11 new songs. We have a cover in the works but I'm not gonna let the cat out of the bag yet. Don't worry, it's a pretty sweet song and it's not some song from the 80's like every other band does. It's a great song that never really got the attention it deserved.
"So yeah, 11 new ATR originals. Lots of em are kinda short. Which I like cause I have ADD so bad it's crazy. Some stuff is very different from anything we've done before. That makes me pretty happy. We don't wanna be the band that puts out the same disc two or three times in a row. There's some pretty rockin stuff, some heavy stuff, LOTS of solos, and LOTS and LOTS of double bass. We like to keep Jason [Costa, drums] feeling like he's more of a marathon runner than playing the drums. So yeah, the long and the short of it: the disc is coming together. Late August or early September it should be in stores and on iTunes.
Get into it!"

Madison, Wisconsin-based metal band The Ottoman Empire is slated to release a new EP. Titled "The Answer: Does Not Exist," this is their first release since 2006's full length, "Way of the Blade." The EP will be available at the CD release show Saturday, May 17th at The Orpheum Theater in Madison, WI. The event is being recorded and video taped by Madison Media Institute and is an all-ages, free show.
"The Answer: Does Not Exist" EP will be comprised of 6 songs recorded in 2007 at Track Six Studios in Cleveland, OH. The EP was produced by Don DeBiase (Beneath The Sky, Forever in Terror), and features 4 new recordings as well as re-worked versions of the songs "Wrathshot" and "Anemic World" from the album "Way of the Blade."
Vocalist Mary Zimmer talks about the release of the new EP: "We've had a few unmastered versions of these 6 songs up on MySpace for quite a while now so that our fans could hear the new material right away. We originally recorded the 6 songs with no particular fate in mind. We weren't sure if we'd do more and put out a whole album, or if we would do an EP. Rather than wait to finish a whole album, we decide to put out an EP and include the re-worked versions of "Wrathshot" and "Anemic World." We shot a video for the 2007 version of "Anemic World" and it's been up on YouTube since last fall. It's gotten a great response so far and we think the EP will also be well received. Producer Don DeBiase was an absolute blast to work with and the new songs are definitely a step up from our 2006 release, 'Way of the Blade.'"
"The Answer: Does Not Exist" EP will be available digitally worldwide via iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody and more. Physical distribution will only be through the band's merchandise page found on MySpace.

1. Prolog auf Erden (Instr.) 3:38?
2. Wurzelbert 4:58?
3. Blut im Auge 4:44?
4. Unbesiegt 6:19?
5. Verrat 6:04?
6. Snüffel 5:44?
7. Heimwärts 2:32?
8. Heiderauche (Instr.) 2:31?
9. Die Weide und der Fluß 7:21?
10. Des Sängers Fluch 8:03?
11. Ruf in den Wind 4:52?
12. Dämmerung 5:54?
13. Mana (Instr.) 16:21
“Sagas” features a guest appearance from Ulrich Herkenhoff, a pinpipe player who can be heard on the soundtrack of “The Lord of the Rings - Return of the King,” as well as a violin solo by Agnes Malich, deputy concertmaster of the Augsburg Philharmonic Orchestra.
Although it’s a decent, smaller venue, something was clearly wrong with the sound quality at the Théatre Plaza on April 28, when Kalmah, Talamyus and WarCall came on Kalmah’s first-ever tour for this continent.
I’m not a sound technician, yet this is a problem I’m not as willing to attribute to the bands, as to the location, the equipment, the set-up, or something of that nature. The middle of Kalmah’s show offers an example of this issue, as the bass started producing an annoying, droning feedback – quite noticeable as I was stationed in front of Timo Lehtinen. Pekka Kokko had to stop the show and call for assistance, leading the audience into a shout of his new favorite curse word, “tabarnak!”
WarCall, a local band (from Montreal), opened the night and they were definitely sub-par, at least compared with the headliner. Their music was of a progressive nature that caused the mind to wander, and I ended up getting sucked into the saga of a large, drunk man harassing the bartender who waved water in his face, in vain.
Another Montreal act, Talamyus, picked up the crowd and got everyone thrashing about and ready for Kalmah. Even from closer to the back of the venue, where the sound is typically of a better grade, something was a little off in the performance of Talamyus, who did not manage to achieve their studio-quality sound. I don’t really enjoy admitting that, as I find this to be a talented and innovative group. They tackle Viking themes from a more brutal perspective than fans commonly see, tossing in old-school death metal growls more suggestive of earlier Amon Amarth work than melodic, folk-driven music.
The most recent release, “In These Days of Violence,” got a good deal of attention, and “God Of War” and “Conviction” were my favorite songs from their setlist.
Metallica has added another event to their list of things to do before hopping across the pond for their European tour.
According to the band’s website, they’ll be performing at the Irvine Meadows Amphitheater in Irvine, CA on May 17. Irvine's local radio station KROQ is hosting their annual Weenie Roast and Metallica joins a musical roster that already includes Rise Against, Atreyu and Seether, amongst others.
Tickets for the show go on sale just two days beforehand on Thursday, May 15.

Rumours are beginning to circulate that Sounds Of The Underground tour 2008 will not be happening this year due to, among other things, a lack of suitable headliners and a declne in the economy.
Last years tour was infamous for featuring "death rapper" Necro and his subsequent departure mid way through it.
Former CELTIC FROST mainman Tom Gabriel Fischer has posted this message on his official blog:
"For the fourth time this year, I will return to Norway tomorrow to contribute my share to the mixing of the Black Metal album production commenced this past January. I will thus be online infrequently for a few days, but I will tend to the numerous pending e-mails in my inbox upon my return to Switzerland in early May. This will include the substantial backlog of mail caused by my departure from CELTIC FROST."
