Prior to Sepultura's headlining show at Higher Ground in South Burlington, Vermont, I was honored to sit down backstage with guitarist and songwriter Andreas Kisser for a discussion of the band's past, present, and future. A Sepultura mainstay since 1987, the classically trained Andreas has contributed vastly to the band's signature sound and handled lead songwriting duties since the 1996 departure of founding frontman Max Cavalera. Among the topics addressed was the persistent controversy over Max's replacement by current frontman Derrick Green, and what Andreas considers a stubborn unwillingness to move on from the past and accept Sepultura as it exists and thrives today. A number of rock and metal musicians have posted tributes online to Beastie Boys rapper, bassist and co-founder, Adam Yauch, aka "MCA." Yauch passed away earlier today at the age of 47. The cause of death is presently unknown, though it suspected to be linked to his run in with cancer in 2009, for which he underwent surgery. Yauch was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame along with his other Beastie Boys bandmates and other acts including Guns N Roses and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, who dedicated their performance to absent Yauch.
Some of the hard rock tributes read as follows:
Slash: "Sad day. MCA was fucking awesome. RIP man. We'll miss you very much."
Anthrax: "RIP MCA. Cancer, you're an asshole.
Megadeth frontman, Dave Mustaine: "Rest In Peace Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch of the Beastie Boys. My condolences to his family and friends." More...

To Speak Of Wolves has premiered another new song online from new album "Find Your Worth, Come Home." Check out the album's lead off track, "Hivemind," streaming now exclusively via Revolver Magazine.
"'Hivemind' was the last song we wrote for the record," explains drummer Phil Chamberlain. "In fact, we actually wrote it in the studio after we were done arranging the rest of the songs on the album. We wanted a song that was fast and a little chaotic, but also short and sweet to open the record, and that became 'Hivemind.' Lyrically, the song is about coming from a broken home and wanting to make everything better, but you can't."
To Speak of Wolves also has the following upcoming tour dates: More...

Standby Records is pleased to announce the premiere of Davey Suicide’s video for "Generation Fuck Star" through BlankTV. The video was directed by renowned photographer and filmmaker Chad Michael Ward, who’s prior work has included Marilyn Manson, Fear Factory, and Combichrist.
Frontman and the namesake for Davey Suicide, states “I feel like visually, this video is what the soundtrack of this generation should feel like. The video for ‘Generation Fuck Star’ combines alternative individuality and how we all must band together as one; no matter if you are drug addicts, street punks or getting fucked with. The video presents the sense of social isolation felt by many teens; rather than wallowing in self-pity. It empowers people. I'm breaking free from all of the baggage that has plagued me for years and have become comfortable in my own skin."
In discussing the release of the video, Davey said, “Generation Fuck Star is about breaking the mold, doing what you want, how you want, and not because you are told to be a certain way. Fans can see through the cookie cutter bands, and that's why their love for those bands is fleeting. Give them music that means something, and they'll stand by your side, forever." More...
In 2011, Rorcal released a first split CD with Solar Flare, today, the second of the four parts of the Rorcal Split Series is available through Cal of Ror Records (Lilium Sova). The following press release was issued about the split:
"This time, we have 3 bands, 3 tracks, 3 approaches. In the aim of creating something special (or uncreating for others), this collaborative work has been a very long process to visualize something more than just a gathering of songs with single identities. But rather to shape a story through 45 minutes of darkness, atmospheric, violent and hysterical waves of sound and screams. Opening with Profond Barathre, followed by Rorcal and finalized by Malvoisie.
"3 chapters to be discovered in one straight listening. The release is presented in a very limited handmade digifile CDr (only 200 copies) in the same format as the collaborative CD released with Solarflare."

Bolt Thrower's birthday bash, Boltfest, has succeeded in raising a considerable sum for Teenage Cancer Trust. The show, held at the HMV Forum in London on April 7th, included a line-up handpicked by Bolt Thrower: Autopsy, Discharge, Benediction, and Vallenfyre - all who, according to the band, helped contribute to great memories throughout Bolt Thrower's 26 year career. All 2050 tickets sold out in just over 2 weeks, with the band hoping to achieve the target of £10,000 for TCT.
The band announced today: "The next piece of news, and the one which we're most proud of, is to let you all know the amount we've raised for Teenage Cancer Trust: £12,411.80 (approx 15,000 Euros / $20,000)! The money has already been handed over to TCT, so on behalf of them we'd like to thank everyone who donated by participating in Boltfest."
Bolt Thrower previously commented about the decision to stage Boltfest: "Anniversaries are kind of easy to achieve. For a band, just don't split up and you'll reach one, whether it's 10, 20 or 35 years. And this year we've reached '25 years of not splitting up!' We managed to stop others from making a big fuss about it, and didn't give in to the numerous offers and suggestions on how we should cash in on it! But it has made us appreciate the opportunities we've been given since 1986, and that we've been able to do everything we wanted to do without compromising in any way.
"Obviously you can't charge people to come to your own birthday party, so as soon as we came up with the idea for Boltfest, we decided we should pay all the costs for the event ourselves. We also wanted to use Boltfest as an opportunity to do some good, and turn it into something more than just another show.
"So we've decided to ask everyone to donate £5.99 to charity if they want to come to the party. This way, with your help, we hope Boltfest will raise £10,000 for a good cause!"
Only three months after the release of the band's last video for the song "Soul Apart," the piano project In Legend is back with some new food for your eyes. This time the group shot a video for the the ballad "Universe," which can be viewed below.
"In the past, we rather focused on making videos for several 'bullets' of our Ballads 'n' Bullets album, but with our ballad 'Universe' we are now breaking this tradition," explains front man Bastian Emig. "Filmed at the German island Rügen, this video impressively conveys the spirit of the song and takes the viewer to extraordinary spots. We almost canceled the release, by the way, as the video consists only of a solo performance of me, without my band mates. However, we thought that the images are just way too beautiful to withhold them from the world. Future videos will also feature the other legends again - of course!
"Particularly responsible for the video is once again our great team, consisting of Daniel Wild, Yannick Bonica, Benjamin Kiesewetter, and last but not least Robert Naumann, as well as other wonderful helpers without whom this video couldn't have been realized. That is also why we released the 'Yue' video in advance - as an acknowledgement of our gratitude." More...

Liv Kristine (Leaves' Eyes) has issued the following update about "Libertine," her upcoming new solo album:
"Dear Fans & Friends,
"Summer greetings from Mastersound Studio! The mixdown and mastering of my fourth solo album which is called 'Libertine' was completed yesterday and will be given a release date soon. 'Libertine' is truly a milestone in my career; it sums up my most important artistic experiences in my creative journey through life. The more rock and metal-based songs like 'Vanilla Skin Delight' (incl. superb male vocals from Tobias Regner), 'Paris Paris,' 'Solve Me,' and title track 'Libertine' certainly expose some of those magic moments which fans of Theatre of Tragedy enjoyed and treasured on 'Aegis' and 'Musique.'
"The ballads 'Silence,' 'Love Crime,' and 'Meet Me in the Red Sky' will go straight into you hearts, each of them being absolute individual in their emotional expressions and musical compositions. Alex gave each track a perfect sound in the mix by emphasizing on each song's characteristic accent and atmosphere.
"I can't wait to let you hear this album; it is exceptional to me both personally and in my artistic career, and I can't wait to play these songs for you live! The cover and booklet artwork is completed as well. It took a while for me, personally, to find the artistic expression I wished to expose in my pictures, however, Heile (Heilemania) and Alex guided me into the right direction, for which I am so happy and grateful. The cover of 'Libertine' will be revealed soon, so stay tuned!"

Stick To Your Guns has posted a new music video online for the song "Against Them All," which can be viewed below, or you can check out the previously posted "We Still Believe" clip at this location. The following press release was also issued about the band:
"Stick To Your Guns is more than a band, they have evolved into a movement that focuses on individual self expression, the desire to create a better life for yourself and an emphasis on the importance of family and treating others with respect. The highly acclaimed new effort, Diamond, blends melody, heaviness, and sincerity into one solid sound that will cater to fans of Comeback Kid, Ignite and Rise Against."
Jesse Barnett (vocals) states: “We are extremely happy with how this video turned out. A big thanks to director Carlo Opperman for that. 'Against Them All' is meant to encourage those that have been made to feel as if their way of life is incorrect simply because it does not fit within the box that has been created by those around them. So much time is spent on analyzing one another. People try to pin point just why others do what they do, or say what they say. The only language that we can all speak and understand is love. Along with that comes understanding.” More...

Steven Adler (ex-Guns N’ Roses) is back with his new band named Adler and a new single titled “The One You Hated.” The band insists that the band is about a man/woman relationship and not what we all assume: heroin. Of course, I guess it could be about Axl Rose as well, or maybe the song is about Steven from the mindset of Celebrity Rehab’s Dr. Drew. Either way you look at it, Steven has an impressive memory catalog to pull inspiration from… More...
