Nachtmystium Announces New Live Shows

The bastard sons of black metal in Nachtmystium have announced a string of random live attacks for the coming months, while they also devise the execution of their sixth full-length release. The latest plague of concerts begins with a hometown headlining gig, with support from Lord Mantis (containing two members of Nachtmystium), this Friday, May 6th in Chicago. The band's upcoming dates are as follows:

5/06/2011 Cobra Lounge - Chicago, IL w/ Lord Mantis, Defcon [info]
6/11/2011 Alehorn Of Power Festival - Chicago, IL [info]
7/23/2011 Central Illinois Metalfest - Urbana, IL [info]
8/12/2011 Flugplatz Obermehler - Schlotheim, Germany @ Party San Festival [info]

Since returning from a North American tour as direct support for Cradle of Filth in March, Nachmystium has been devising the band's next studio effort. As of now, little more about the album is being released, but according to vocalist Blake Judd this week: "The new record will have a very strong industrial influence in the vein of later-era Ministry, Revolting Cocks and Nine Inch Nails, but also a strong, depressive, old-school black metal influence." More details will be announced shortly.

In the meantime, Judd and Nachtmystium have confirmed several collaborations with infamous USBM horde Von. Two separate projects are currently underway which involve members of both bands. First up, Judd has been confirmed as one of a dozen notable artists set to collaborate with Von bassist Venien, on a project entitled Von Venien. The unit will release a 12" single entitled "Empire" via Von's own label Von Music Group. Following that, VMG will also unleash a split between Von and Nachtmystium via 12" MLP and CD, which will include both a new track as well as some Von homage from Nachtmystium. Full details on releases will be unveiled shortly.

The band's song "Nightfall" also recently made its way onto the Rock Band Network.

Art Of Dying Talks New Album And Band History

Guitarist Greg Bradley of Canadian act Art of Dying has conducted an interview with Hailsandhorns.com about the history of the band, signing to Intoxication Records, and the band's new album. Excerpts from the interview follow.

How was ART OF DYING formed?

Greg Bradley: ART OF DYING was formed by me and Jonny in 2004. We started writing songs then and recorded our independent album in 2005. We met Jeff Brown in 2007 when we needed a new drummer and Jeffy recommended Cale Gontier on bass and Tavis Stanley on guitar before we started touring with DISTURBED in early 2008. When we toured with Disturbed for the first time we knew we had the magical line-up to take AOD to the next level.

You have a new album called, Vices and Virtues, out now. Tell fans what they can expect from the album.

Greg Bradley: You can expect everything from Alice in Chains-style heavy guitar riffs to a U2-style ballad…big guitar and vocal melodies and a lot of vocal harmonies!

You are the first band signed to Disturbed’s label imprint, Intoxication Records. How did signing to that label come about?

Greg Bradley: Dan Donegan called us one day after picking up our indie CD from a radio promoter in Boston. He offered us a tour with Disturbed and watched us every night for 13 shows. David Draiman and Dan then flew us to Chicago a few months later and offered us a deal with Intoxication Records…an unbelievable opportunity!

So far I'm quite pleased with the results of work. I really like the initial sounding of instruments and I know that it's only the beginning. Wieslawcy Bros are doing a marvellous job. They can also be very motivating and suggesting interesting solutions sometimes. We're about to finish the rest of the material soon. Italian metal act Elvenking has posted the following statement online, announcing the departure of drummer Zender.

"We had a wonderful journey with Zender in these long 12 years. Thinking about where we started together back in the time and what we have achieved along the path, it really looks incredible. We were a bunch of kids when we started together with nothing but a dream, and now we are here.

"We cannot feel anything but proud and we are sure Zender feels exactly the same.

"Being in a band like Elvenking it is not the easiest thing in the world, since you are not that big to live out of your passion, but you're big enough to have a lot of stress, busy days, lots of things to do and manage, long travels, flights, etc. etc.

"The split has been in total friendship and with no bad blood at all. Zender came to visit the band in the rehearsal room also the other day to share some words and drinks together. All Elvenking members, crew and friends wish Zender all the best possible for his future and we’re sure our roads will cross again sooner or later."
