Each week in "Unearthing the Metal Underground," we spotlight a few quality unsigned bands in an attempt to spread the word and expose acts that make the underground great. This week we’re returning again to the realm of solo extreme metal to uncover three more one-man bands.
Unlike our last foray into the world of solo musicians, these three groups aren’t restricted entirely to the black metal style. Instead we’ll be covering a wide range of musical projects that showcase how creativity and professional musicianship can flourish in the unlimited freedom of a solo band. More...

"Psalm is looking for a new guitarist to complete their line-up. Regarding the musical style, it is best to listen to our tracks available on our Myspace page. Though we’re open to any proposition, we’re mostly looking for someone with the following characteristics: musically open-minded; good musician, rhythmically tight, the ability to play leads is a huge bonus; the will to participate to the writing of new tracks; own (and good) guitar equipment; free to rehearse once or twice a week in Brussels.
"We’re currently writing our second full length records, so this is an ideal time to join us. More than a hyper brilliant player, we’re looking for a motivated musician who keeps his feet on the ground. Thanks for your attention. CONTACT: email@example.com."

In a recent interview with CityBeat's Amy Harris, Helmet frontman Page Hamilton revealed that the band's new studio album, "Seeing Eye Dog" has been delayed until August. An excerpt from the chat reads as follows:
Q: The new album, Seeing Eye Dog, is set for release June 22nd. Can you tell me about the inspiration behind the name?
A: "The album release has actually been pushed back to August 24th as we try to finish artwork and finalize the tracks. I usually shy away from political statements, but there is some social commentary on the album. A seeing eye dog is one that leads the blind around. I also read a poem by Ezra Pound, one of my favorite poets, called “The Seeing Eye” and the image just stuck in my head."

Israeli heavy metal group Orphaned Land has posted a message online, discussing their recent supporting slot for Metallica in Israel. Their message reads as follows:
“It was 17 years ago, in 1993 when I saw Metallica for the first time. There were barely any metal concerts of foreign bands in Israel that time. I still remember that day, I was 17 years old only, the moment where they played 'Fade To Black' is for sure the highlight moment of my youth. Time went by and here we are, finding ourselves sharing the stage with the fathers of metal. Orphaned Land exist for 18 years now, we accomplished some success ourselves and toured the world. Still, I cannot remember when I was exited like that, the fact that we even had a small chat with the Metallica members is a moment to remember, I know that they are just humans, but they are our childhood heroes! This was such a night to remember and a great closure to this youth moment I had with Metallica.
"Unfortunately, we saw only six songs from the amazing Metallica concert and then we had to run to the airport to catch a flight to play at the equally fantastic Rock Hard festival in Germany. We arrived on Sunday at an amazing venue, a sunny day and a rare atmosphere, some kind of a big metallic family gathering. The fans were great, we also met many friends who came, everyone was red like a tomato (from the sun) and the show was one hell of a party.
"Thank you Metallica!!! Thank you Rock Hard fest!!"
American power metal outfit Jag Panzer has announced that they have signed a new record deal with SPV/Sony Records. The label will be releasing the bands new studio album, "Scourge Of The Light" in early 2011, with the band scheduled to record the album in August. Stay tuned for further details.
Greek thrash act Suicidal Angels has issued the following statement regarding a recent show with Bolt Thrower and announcement about working on a new album:
"At last, the 30th of May came (and went so fast...) We were anticipating that gig with Bolt Thrower for so long and for so many reasons. Our long absence from the Athenian stages being one of them. We want to send out a great hail, to our brothers in arms, Inveracity, who opened for the concert. We have been influenced greatly by that much respected band, more work-wise, less musically. They deserve all the best and we hope to see them rise as much as they deserve some day.
"As for Bolt Thrower, no words can describe the individuals that form this machine, nor the machine itself. Old friends of ours, open-hearted and simple, while other 'big bands' play divas, Bolt Thrower just have a good time playing the music they (and we) love. Many many thanks, for letting us use their own backline! That's very important and helpful for the support bands of a concert. Again, thank you very much!
"We'd also like to thank Harry Katinakis for inviting us, our sound engineer and crew and all our old and new friends, the crazy ones who drove from every corner of Greece just to be in that concert. We'll see you soon again, we know it and you know it. On further news regarding the band, we will be leaving tomorrow for Germany. On June 2nd, we start recording the successor of 'Sancitfy the Darkness.' We will be working once again with R.D. Lia in Music Factory & Prophecy studios and we can already assure you, that it's gonna be a thrash mayhem, nothing more or less. More...

Warbringer has issued an update on their Asian tour as well as some videos and a full diary. Here's the update from the band:
"Some of the best and most excited crowds we have played for. For anyone of you reading, it was our pleasure! After the first 3 gigs in Japan with MUNICIPAL WASTE and TOXIC HOLOCAUST we had no idea what to expect. We couldn't believe how many fans old and young came out to headbang and thrash when we were on our own thousands of miles away from home!
"This was easily the most exhausting tour we have ever done. All the travel and hot humid weather took its toll on us.
"After we finish the next album, coming back to these countries is something we definitely look forward to, although I understand it's rare enough for an American Thrash band to play overseas in the first place.
"This has also been the best documented Warbringer tour. Considering we played in Thailand in the middle of a huge riot with military involvement and civilian casaulities, it has also been one of the most interseting tours we have ever done. For starters I personally edited together 3 Interviews from different legs of the tour with various video clips and
photos for youtube."
