Huddersfield sludge band Wort is streaming its debut four-song EP "Wort's 'N' All!" over on Bandcamp. Today Decibel Magazine unveils the sadistic sounds of “3rd Space Guerrilla Generator,” from Maryland powerviolence miscreants Strong Intention. The track comes off the band’s soon-to-be-unleashed "Razorblade Express" EP and features guest vocals by Eyehategod vocalist/wordsmith Mike Williams.
Comments Strong Intention’s founding frontman Zac Ohler of the tune: “The song was written as a quick blast of venom directed towards the ongoing concrete sprawl and urban development around the town I was living in. While the interior of the city and its neighborhoods fell into ruin, crime and squalor, the businessmen were riding the wave of the housing and commercial building boom at the beginning of the decade with no sense of intelligent city planning, destroying miles and miles of green space around the city I once knew.”

"Razorblade Express" will be released via PATAC Records on June 1st, 2012 with the first pressing limited to just 500 copies. In addition, "Razorblade Express" features bass work by Cattle Decapitation’s Derek Engemann.

Russian act Shturm has posted a new official music video online for the song "Eagles Above Tibet," taken from the "Karmaruna" album released in April, 2012 via Darknagar Records.
Check out the video clip in the player available below. You can also watch the band's previously posted video clip for "Solitude Beside" at this location.
The band commented on the new video:
"Greetings Brothers! Today we present to you our new video for the song 'Eagles above Tibet' from the 'Karmaruna' album. The video's full of symbols and ideas, so its sense may be not very clear for you - we'll be happy to answer your questions!
"The video's and song's ideas are different at first sight. The song itself tells us about how compassionate may be human's heart even after great ties of exile, wars and humiliation. It also tells us about how important is freedom for everyone of us all! The video consists of few scenes in which the wise Buddhist parables are shown. We suppose their sence may be quite urgent for many people today, so the video may appear interesting for you!
"We hope for it! Nice viewing!"
As previously announced, this June Neurot Recordings will issue a special three-way split CD in tribute to late American folk music hero Townes Van Zandt in North America, the homage bearing contributions from Scott Kelly (Neurosis, Shrinebuilder, Tribes of Neurot, etc.), Steve Von Till (Neurosis, Tribes of Neurot, Harvestman, etc.) and Scott “Wino” Weinrich (Saint Vitus, The Obsessed, The Hidden Hand, Shrinebuilder, etc.).
As part of their weekly “Wino Wednesday” installment series, today The Obelisk is hosting an exclusive stream of one of Weinrich’s offerings from the Van Zandt homage, in the form of the record’s seventh song, “Nothing,” right here.
Also still available is Scott Kelly’s rendition of “St. John The Gambler” downloadable at this location.
After having performed material by Van Zandt solo and through various collaborations on stage over recent years, on solo releases and more, the aptly entitled "Songs of Townes Van Zandt" brings several songs each from Steve Von Till, Scott Kelly, and Wino together in praise of his deep musical influence on them all. Through a personal contact of the artists, newly-formed label My Proud Mountain was founded specially in order to release this tribute, with Neurot Recordings handling the North American release of the album on June 12th.
The master of the Earth—that is, GWAR lead singer Oderus Urungus—has a few choice words for humans who "take animals, rip their skins off, and make marmoset banana hammocks with them."
In a brand-new video for peta2, PETA's youth division, Urungus pronounces "a bitter doom on those who fuck with our furry friends"—who he says are humans' "superiors"—and announces GWAR's new plan for an all-natural alternative to fur: the pubic hair of prison inmates.
"GWAR is titillated to be working with peta2, in this, the latest thing that GWAR is doing," says Urungus. "We'll be providing the humans with an alternative to animal fur and also helping improve the hygiene of this country's vast prison industry, in a collaboration that is sure to rip off a few heads."
As you may recall, this is GWAR's second video for peta2. The first, titled "Fight Humans, Not Dogs," pitted a GWAR "slave" against The Red Chord's Guy Kozowyk in a no-holds-barred match. More information is available through peta2 at this location. More...
Riverside, CA melodic hardcore band No Bragging Rights will shack up at One Light Media recording studios in Las Vegas, Nevada next month. The band will start tracking a brand new album with Kelly Cairns (As I Lay Dying, Austrian Death Machine, Molotov Solution, Chelsea Grin, War Of Ages, Impending Doom, Sworn Enemy) who worked on the band's last album "Illuminator," which was released January of last year.
No Bragging Rights completed many tours this past year with appearances at the New England Metal & Hardcore Festival, The Jamboree, and many other notable festivals, and could not be more thrilled to take time off and start recording a new album.
Guitarist Daniel Garrow had the following to say, "We're excited to work with Kelly again because we know this record is a priority and he's sure to capture what we're going for. My personal goals for these songs weren't necessarily based on structure or 'rules' but what feels right; trying to stay within a melodic balance throughout the duration on the song. There's something for everyone in there if you liked our last two full lengths! We're very excited to release this material and tour heavily!"
A new label announcement is on the way, so stay tuned. More...

The band entered the studio on March 18th to self-record the new album along with producer Terry Paholek at The Physics Lab in their hometown of Edmonton, Canada.
Guitarist / vocalist Vetis Monarch commented on the upcoming album: "Weapon loyalists can expect no-holds barred, satanic death metal that the band displayed on it's previous work, but further refined and sharpened to ferocious perfection. Embers And Revelations will be the apex of malice via music."
Additionally, Weapon has confirmed a three week tour with black metal legends Marduk & 1349 with additional support from Withered. The tour begins on June 2nd in Baltimore, MD and ends on June 20th in San Diego, CA. Cleveland, Ohio thrash metal act Destructor has parted ways with guitarist Pat Rabid and bassist Jamie Boulder. Rabid was a founding member in 1983 and played on the band's "Maximum Destruction" debut album, released in 1985 via Auburn Records. Boulder joined in 2002 and appeared on the "Sonic Bullet" (2003), "Forever In Leather" (2007) and "Storm Of Steel" (2007) releases.
Commented vocalist/guitarist Dave Overkill:
"Matt Flammable and I would like to take the time to announce some changes in the band line-up. Pat Rabid has left the band sighting personal issues and is unable to keep his position. Jamie Boulder has also decided to leave. Jamie fronts his own metal band, Midnight, and decided to bow out shortly after Pat's announcement. Sometimes change happens but the heart and soul of Destructor continues to beat fast and strong. Matt and I wish them both the best and are thankful for their years of service to the band. We will be replacing the bass and guitar positions and are looking forward to being ready to support the new record shortly. Live shows are being tentatively planned, along with select auditions in the weeks to follow. Rest assured Destructor is here to stay and Matt and I are positive and moving forward with conviction. Stay tuned for updates to follow and as always keep the faith!"
Destructor is finishing up the recording of a new studio album, "Decibel Casualties," at Supernatural Sound in Kirtland, Ohio. Tomasz Scull, guitarist for the band Venomin James and owner of the studio, is engineering.
"We've had some recording delays due to the personnel problems," adds Overkill. "There is just some vocals and a little guitar work to tweak before mixing will begin. I am confident this will be the best Destructor release to date. There is so much energy to the songs and the production will be what our fans have come to expect from us."

Trivium's popularity has gone from “Ember to Inferno” in five records on a quest for “Ascendancy,” all the while fighting “The Crusade” like “Shogun” warriors, to be able to have more and more fans flock “In Waves” to their shows. Though they are eternally cursed with detractors due to the unlucky fact that they hail from Florida (no Florida band gets a real break!), Trivium has made a big statement over the years by bringing a power-packed show to each venue they play. Lead guitarist/vocalist Matt Heafy is an especially charismatic force to see, as well as an expressive performer. The very last leg of their headlining shows in the US in early 2012 was in Nashville, TN at the Exit/In on May 25th, for which there was a show report written.
Before the show got rolling and was broadcast to viewers all across the world through Livestream.com, Trivium bassist Paolo Gregoletto caught up with MetalUnderground’s Frank Serafine for a video interview on the tour bus. More...
For the first time in its 17-year existence, Negura Bunget (translated as “Dark Foggy Forest) showcased its disparate mix of Romanian folk music and atmospheric black metal to an American audience. Hearing these songs on home speakers was simply not the same as witnessing the band live. One can’t fully comprehend the band’s primordial forests and grim folklore without seeing the group live. For many, this was the closest they’ll ever get to sift the earth of the Carpathian Mountains through their fingers.
Before Negura Bunget and its strictly-folk project, Din Brad took the stage in San Antonio; Metal Underground.com spoke with drummer and founder, Negru. We discussed the group’s restructuring, their first visit to the U.S., the making of recent recordings and new material on the horizon. He also explained the superstitions still practiced by some in his country and his country’s greatest celebrity, Dracula. More...

Mythological occult metal artisans Absu regretfully announce the cancellation of their set at this weekend's Chaos In Tejas festivities, where they were confirmed to headline the show at Red 7 this Saturday with support from Terrorism, Loss, Morbosidad, Ares Kingdom and Black Witchery.
Immediately following a bludgeoning performance at the opening night of this year's sweltering installment of Maryland Deathfest this past Thursday night, Absu drummer/vocalist Proscriptor had to rush back to Texas due to a knee infection.
Following two surgeries, Proscriptor will be in good health and back to 110% efficiency by the mid portion of June, but not in time to perform as scheduled on Saturday night.
This cancellation is disheartening to the band for the moment, as the act was fully planning on leveling all in earshot at the performance this weekend; however, this procedure will now ensure that the band will be fully operational for the previously mentioned forthcoming Absu live assaults throughout North and South America, which are being confirmed now to be announced in the weeks just ahead. Stay tuned to be inundated with new information on said events.

Denmark traditional/groove metal band Chainfist, featuring ex-Panzerchrist guitarist Michael Kopietz, is streaming the new track "10,000 Days." The song was recorded at Six String Studios with Søren Jensen and was mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios. it will appear on the bands forthcoming, yet untitled, sophomore LP and follow up to the 2010 debut "Black Out Sunday," which is scheduled to be recorded this fall. The band promises that the new material will be "stronger, heavier and even more melodic" than the songs on the band's debut CD.
Vocalist Jackie Petersen commented on the song: "It’s time yet another new song from Chainfist. This time we’ll give a badass heavy song called “10K”. It shows the more melodic side of Chainfist, and like “Mass Frustration” we went for a more old-school sound like the good old 90’s. This song got it all, from body bouncing, neck breaking riffs too more melodic and slow breakdowns, you will love this for sure. The song will be featured on the yet no named 2nd cd from Chainfist, due to be recorded this fall 2012. So ladies and gents, we present to you: “10K” aka “10.000 Days” – Play it loud, share it and most of all, break your neck!!”

Conspires To... has issued the following update about delays in the recording process for the band's new album due to computer issues:
"Technology when it is working can be really great, but when it isn't can be an absolute killer of creativity and productivity!
"Imagine our dismay when we got to about 90% of the vocals for our new album complete, when the PC melts down! No it is n't a complete disaster but not far off.
"All the music is safe, plus vox for 5 songs, but the other 8 lots of vocals hang in the balance. Still trying to resurrect the hard drive......so I will keep you posted.
"Apart from this trauma the album is coming on blindingly well, and we should be releasing another song on Reverbnation very soon.
"Further updates will follow shortly."
You can also check out the recently posted new song "City of Ghosts" via the band's MySpace page.

"The band is also working on a special song in order to celebrate the anniversary of the first 20 years of the band's career, an assembly of riffs, ideas, lyrics, loops, grooves sent by fans.
"Furthermore a big fanwall poster is under construction, with hundreds of photos from the fans. You'll find all the infos and restrictions on sending audio and visual material inside the fanarea section on our website."

Pain…the pain affects your lower abdomen. When you sit, you do so very gingerly and even walking is uncomfortable. The ceaselessness pain is so intense it assaults your stomach to the point where your ribs start to separate and nausea forces you to succumb to even more painful, but ironically relieving, evacuation from both ends. Imagine experiencing this in varying degrees for a period of forty plus years while also creating honest, brilliant and universally underrated music for thirty six of those years. Through fourteen albums with Riot and three albums with Westworld, this was the life of Mark Reale. The endless struggle he had with such underwhelming media/fan reaction to his brilliant music only paralleled his near lifelong struggle with Crohn’s disease. Ironically, his epitaph was the eerily prophetic “Immortal Soul.” It was his finest moment and just as he reached that pinnacle of his career it was over. Now the world is left with a largely unappreciated legacy, one which I hold to be even more relevant than the tragic loss of Dimebag Darrell. As long as I am alive, the mastery of Reale will always be remembered. More...

U.S. power metal band Iced Earth announced that it was forced to cancel the band's performance at the Bangalore Open Air Festival in India on June 16, 2012 due to visa issues. The band is continuing to tour in support of the latest release "Dystopia" (see Metal Underground's review here).
The announcement reads:
"Dear fans, friends and fellow metalheads in India.
"It is with a heavy heart and deep regret to announce that we will not be performing at the Bangalore Open Air festival on the 16th of June 2012.
"Unfortunately, we have been a victim of terminal visa issues for our American band and crew members, despite having followed every step given to us and retaining one of the top immigration firms in the world to do the job. It turns out some of the regulations have changed without this being made known to us and we are now no longer in a position to get the necessary paperwork in place. This has come as a huge disappointment since we were looking forward to performing for and meeting all of you for the very first time in your wonderful country.
"We would like to thank the team of BOA for all their help and support along the way. Unfortunately things are now beyond the control of the band and the organizers but we sincerely hope all the metalheads in India will continue to support Bangalore Open Air and all the fantastic bands scheduled to play there.
"Finally, a huge thank you to all the Indian metalheads for your kind words and wonderful support. We promise to make every effort to make it to India as soon as humanly possible and bang heads with each and every one of you.
Iced Earth Management Team"
