"A group this savage should not be allowed to make, let alone record, music and, heaven forbid, allowed to haul their disgusting, misshapen, hairy asses and pus-ridden ugly mugs anywhere near civilization to detune some poor victimized metal band's treasured instruments and violate the hungrily waiting audience with bodyparts, filth, heavy fucking death metal and loose ears in case the poor fucks happened to misplace one of their own. Stay the fuck away from the Bukowski Family or join them for the rest of your miserable days."

On June 2nd, 2011, Chilean death metallers Thornafire have the distinct honor of warming up the stage for the almighty Slayer when the titans bring the World Painted Blood Tour to South America. Guitarist Victor Mac-Namara commented on the occasion:
"We are very happy as musicians and fans to be part in the scenario of a Slayer concert, and opening for them in our city. The truth is that I don't have many words to talk about it, I can only say that we will unleash our fury and vibe on stage with our sharp axes and drums to evoke the somber cry of death. In short, we hope to leave the stage like shit, but leave at least the electrical system working for Slayer to finally crush this masochistic audience with their classic tyranny."
The announcement of the Slayer gig comes as the band is currently working on the follow-up to 2009's "Vorex Deconstrucción."
In a previously released statement regarding the forthcoming album, Mac-Namara commented, "Currently we are writing music a little different than what we have done in the past. It's a variation, but still true to our underground Death Metal underground roots. I'm drawing concepts for the album artwork. We hope to have this released by 2012."
Cirrha Niva has posted a recap of the band's recent European tour dates. An excerpt from the road report reads as follows:
"After lots of emails, phone calls and text messages Cirrha Niva's part in Crimson Glory's European Tour was a fact! And now, when it's finished there is so much to share with you all that I could spent a whole week writing a tour report and after putting it live I would still feel the urge to add more details, anecdotes and pics. Yeah, I know myself. So here's what I did. I changed it into a Photo Report and just add tiny footnotes. Probably more fun for you to look at, and more relaxing for me. So, hope you like it. CG is obviously Crimson Glory and with TS I mean the friendly people of the Norwegian band Triosphere.
"Day 01 - Dynamo, Einhoven - Who is WhoJan just before his first gig in Cirrha Niva. Legrand & Rob in the door opening of the nightliner. This day was like going to school for the first time or the first day working for a new boss. Meeting CG and TS for the first time, seeing 13 new faces including our tourmanager, our busdriver and the soundguy and lets not forget Jon Drenning's wife. Also the people from the famous venue had names and faces, hell.
"Everything was a bit strange, who does what when and how and how helps him? But before you could worry about these things everything started to roll, everyone did their piece and in the end: everybody happy! And for the first time I saw CG on stage. Damn, they are good! More...
After previously posting the song "Polaris" online, The Psyke project has also now posted the track "Forget the Forgotten," which can be heard below in the rehearsal video clip. The band commented on the song:
"This is quite heavy. When we wrote 'Dead Storm' we wanted parts on the album that would
make houses collapse and threes split in half. The long riff outro is awesome to play live and
usually kids dig it. Besides this 'Forget The Forgotten' is the only song on the album with a 'bass solo.' Can you find it?"
Souldrainer, which finished recording an album earlier this year, has issued the following announcement about signing to ViciSolum Productions for the album's release:

"We are very excited to work with ViciSolum Productions which is a Swedish label. We've had contact with them for a couple of months now and we finally got to sign the deal. We met up with Thomas from ViciSolum Productions last night at the venue we were playing and signed the contract right before we entered the stage. Thomas is a great guy with sound values and has a great vision and we believe that together we can make a great job making sure all our fans will get the opportunity to enjoy our music. We have great expectations about our upcoming album and we can't wait for you to hear it!"
Details on the new album's title, track listing, and release date will be announced as they are made available.
Miseration has issued the following announcement about working on a new album, recruiting Jani Stefanovic, and parting ways with bassist Johan Ylenstrand:
"Hi all! Sorry for being somewhat absent guys, news-wise and so on. Lately we've gone through some upheavals of rather large proportions, which is why we've deliberately chosen to let silence speak. However, as from today, you can consider this silence a thing of the past!
"So...what's new then...well...for starters, we're no longer a quintet. The last couple of months have been eventful to say the least, documenting several line-up changes, among other things. We'd like to start explaining, by saying welcome back to our good friend Jani Stefanovic. Confused? Well, here follows a statement from Jani himself:
Hello everyone! A short input from my part. As you all have noticed I am back in business again and this feels extremely good. I am so happy that the rest of the guys gave me the benefit of a doubt to come back although I decided to leave awhile ago.
To briefly explain why I left: I was simply in a place in life where I needed to focus on other things, which did not include Miseration. And rather to hold back the band I decided to leave, so that they could carry on without me holding them back from any future plans they had. I was unemployed at that time and had been that for quite some time, which just ate me up. Coming out from a really bad life situation, in every aspect, I needed to recharge my batteries. My life is just great now, being married to a wonderful girl and having a great steady day-time job. In fact, I can't remember the last time I felt this happy.More...
Nothnegal, which signed to Season of Mist back in 2010, has issued the following update about album delays and lineup changes:
"We regret to inform that the release our debut album which was originally intended to come out this Spring have been delayed. This was mostly due to some unforeseen problems and changes in the band's lineup.
"Fufu, who have been doing the backing vocals and guitarist have taken over the vocals and Avo is no longer part of Nothnegal as he decided to leave the band after our European tour with Finntroll.
"We have finished recording 8 songs our upcoming album and the album's sound does shift away from the sound we had on our previous release by having a more heavier thrashier sound. Most of the instrument tracks were laid down at our home studio, the vocals were recorded at OneManArmy Studios in Finland. The songs are currently being mixed in Canada by Greg Reely (Machine Head, Fear Factory, Devin Townsend) who would also be doing the mastering.
"The album would be released worldwide through Season of Mist later this year making it our first release through SoM and also our debut album. More details on the album, the release schedule and our touring plans to follow soon."
The current lineup of Nothnegal is as follows:
Vocals & Guitars - Fufu
Guitars - Hilarl
Keyboards/Samples - Marco Sneck
Drums - Kevin Talley

A teaser trailer for "Khaos Legions" is also available at this location, with the new album set to officially drop on June 7th, 2011 through Century Media Records.
John Petrucci and Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater recently sat down with Music Radar and gave a long and in-depth interview in which they cover lots of topics, including the new album, Mike Portnoy's departure, Mike Mangini's arrival and a host of other things.
One of the most interesting bits, excerpted below, is when Petrucci and Rudess talk about how Portnoy asked to rejoin the band, and why Dream Theater turned down his request.
This is particularly interesting when read adjacent to Portnoy's comment's on the matter, and taken together seems to be a classic case of trying to win the breakup. You can read the entire interview with Petrucci and Rudess at MusicRadar.com.
Music Radar: Well, apparently, it wasn't. He went off with Avenged, but in December, when it became clear that he wasn't staying in that band, he came to you guys and asked if he could rejoin.
Rudess: "Yeah, that was a very challenging time. It was several months later, and what basically happened was… [pauses] You know, just to give you an idea of how deep this was to lose him, how difficult it was… after we got off the phone with him, when he told us what was going to happen, that he was leaving… I literally sat on the steps of my studio and cried. This is a guy who's a friend of mine, who we all love and admire. We didn't want to see it come crashing down. The whole thing brought me to tears. More...
