CHIMAIRA is offering fans the chance to put their own spin on the band’s newest video for “Destroy and Dominate.” Fans are encouraged to download the video stem files from chimaira.com/destroythevideo and edit their own version. The new versions can be uploaded to CHIMAIRA’s YouTube, and the band will hand-pick their favorite three videos. The grand-prize winner will receive the limited edition box set version of "The Infection" plus tickets to the band’s upcoming US tour! The second- and third-prize winners will receive tickets and/or CHIMAIRA merch.
Singer Mark Hunter commented on the contest: “We’re all really proud of what friend and director Todd Bell put together for ‘Destroy and Dominate’ but we were also curious to see what other people would be able to do with the video. We wanted to give fans the chance to have access to the footage and edit their own version of the video. We are curious to see some other takes on it. Fans can submit their video to our YouTube. We’re gonna pick the best one and give them one of our limited editon box sets. We’ll pick a winner July 10th.”
“I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with. I’m sure we’ll see some amazing, some funny and some terrible versions. We’re looking forward to seeing them all. I can’t wait to do my own version too, hell I might even use the footage to make a new Chimaira video!”
CHIMAIRA recently wrapped up a support run on the Music As A Weapon tour with Disturbed, and is now looking ahead to a string of headlining dates leading up to the Decimation of the Nation tour this summer with Hatebreed. More...
Earache Records has issued the following statement about re-issuing "The Ethereal Mirror" by Cathedral as a limited edition CD with a bonus DVD:
"Ethereal Mirror was almost as drastic a departure from Cathedrals slow and meloncholic doom drenched debut, "Forest Of Equilibrium", as was Lee Dorrain fronting Cathedral after playing in Napalm Death!
"Featuring fan favourites and MTV video hits "Midnight Mountain" and "Ride" this album ushered in the Cathedral we know and recognise today with their doomy sabbathesque riffs mixed with more groove laden rock!
"With a Bonus disc capturing the end of Cathedral's proper DOOM period otherwise known as the ‘Statik Majik’ EP which despite only being 3 tracks long has a total running time of 35 mins! And a 40 minute DVD documentary that chronicals the development of the band and the subsequent success of ‘The Ethereal Mirror’ which led to a major label deal with Columbia Records as well as an interview with long time artwork collaborator Dave Patchett we are proud to deliver yet another great value package."
The track listing will be as follows: More...

Sweden's Pain has issued the following update about canceling an upcoming Helsinki show:

Canadian metallers Cradle To Grave are currently streaming two unreleased songs online. The songs "Burn It All" and "Head-Smashed-In-Buffalo-Jump" can be heard on the band's MySpace page.
Gorelord has issued the following update about the recording of their new album:
"Many have requested information regarding the release of Chapter IV - Hellbound, and all I can say is that no final releasedate has been set yet, regardless of me having previously stated that it would be out around march this year. Obviously that plan went down the shitter due to my lazy ass not getting shit done for various reasons I'm not gonna get into. Right now the album is 80% done, and I will finish the rest when my head, heart and creative forces are ready... it's as simple as that.
"I would anyhow like to thank all you gorefreaks requesting information and waiting patiently for this new Gorelord album to hit your speakers hard.... and believe me.. it will hit hard as fuck!! Elephant grooves and rabies madness!! HAHA!!!
"Meanwhile, take care and stay healthy folks! Chapter IV coming SOON!"
Bleeding Through has issued the following update about replacing their guitarist:
"Hey Everyone --
"Now that we're home and rested up from Europe we have some news to share with you. Our good friend Dave Nassie -- who many of you will recognize not only from No Use For A Name, Infectious Grooves and a brief stint with Suicidal Tendencies but from Brandan's side project, The Innocent, as well -- has joined Bleeding Through on guitar.
"Jona Weinhofen, who joined Bleeding Through two years ago, told us during our North American headliner that he would be leaving the band. As he put it, while he enjoyed his time with us, he missed Australia and of course our well documented financial struggles last year due to Trustkill Records lack of timely commitment to their contractual obligations (which continue; they are 90 days late on royalties) all led to his decision.
"We love Jona and we appreciate his contribution to Bleeding Through and his work on our new album, Declaration. He did agree to complete his touring obligations with us which concluded with the Thrash N Burn Tour in Europe. Jona filling in for Bring Me The Horizon came up later, as he explained to us, and we take Jona's word at face value on that. More...

Tiles has issued the following update about working on new material:
"We recently completed a few minor modifications to the site and added a video page with links to the variety of Tiles clips on YouTube. Also posted is an "easier to find" link to our sound check jam with Dream Theater from our European tour all those years ago.
"Paul & Chris recorded their recent 'command performance' of The Wading Pool which is now up on YouTube.
"We've officially begun working on ideas for what will hopefully materialize as our 6th recording. It's in the early stages so we're not sure what direction the music will take us. There are a lot of unusually heavy riffs (for us) but Chris also has a bunch of keyboard-based songs that might interest the other guys.
"In the meantime, we plan to continue playing around the Detroit area and branching out a bit in the Midwest if the opportunity arises."

Eluveitie is a band from Switzerland known for their unique instruments and Gaulish vocals. In April they released their first acoustic album, "Evocation I," through Nuclear Blast, and are currently on tour throughout Europe. Labeling them is a difficult task, as founder and resident death growler Chrigel Glanzmann rejects some of the commonly used descriptors like celtic or pagan. But fans of those genres will find something familiar in the pipes, whistles, mandola, and even hurdy gurdy that Eluveitie uses in their compositions. I recently spoke with Chrigel about Eluveitie’s unusual style, and his work and interest in Helvetian history and the ancient Gaulish language. More...

Joel Gausten, the author of the book "The Sabbath Interviews," has given his opinion on the upcoming lawsuit between singer Ozzy Osbourne and guitarist Tony Iommi. It reads as follows:
"So, the internet is exploding with talk of Ozzy's suit against Iommi. As a massive Black Sabbath fan who's had the honor of interviewing several past and present members over the years, I can't resist commenting on this.
For what it's worth:
"Ozzy seeking 50% ownership of a band name he had nothing to do with for 16 years is asinine. As someone who loves the post-Ozzy stuff (like The Eternal Idol) as much, if not often more, than the first eight albums, I'd have to say that the TRUE spirit of Black Sabbath will always be with Iommi.
"Also, let's not forget the stellar talent who performed in Sabbath in the post-Ozzy years - especially the great Bob Daisley, Eric Singer, Tony Martin and the late Cozy Powell. They were kicking ass and keeping the band going while Ozzy, Geezer and Bill were doing their own thing. These folks were and remain as vital to Sabbath's history than the original four. More...
MARDUK has issued the following statement regarding their US tour and issues entering the country:
"The situation with MARDUK not having performed during the first week of Blackenedfest is due to vocalist Mortuus not having received his visa yet. Note, it is not a 'denied' visa. The band filed for a P-1 non-immigrant work visa, which is required for a band to play in the states. The visa was approved by the United States Government's Homeland Security Office. Furthermore, as required, the band members each individually went to their Visa appointments at the US Embassy in Stockholm for the standard interview, at which point the persons handling the band's applications informed the band that there was no further action needed and that they should expect their passports in the mail with the P-1 visa attached. Everyone in the band received theirs except Mortuus. The day before tour, while the rest of the band were at the airport awaiting to board their flights to the US, Mortuus returned to the embassy to inquire as to the location of his passport. At this point, he was informed that he was missing one document in order to finalize the visa. No one in the band, nor the label, was made aware of this missing form. After we were made aware of this missing document, we provided the document to the Embassy in Stockholm and we are currently awaiting each day for the Passport to be returned to Mortuus with the visa stamp. The Embassy is aware of the urgency of this matter and we expect the band to join the tour in progress any day now. We are hope to announce the arrival of the band soon."
