Swedish rock/metal band Mortalicum recently released its second full-length album, "The Endtime Prophecy" on Metal On Metal Records and has posted a teaser for it. Hailing from Sundsvall, Mortalicum released its first album, "Progress of Doom," back in 2010 right when they appeared at the Keep It True festival. Stream two tracks, "Ballad of a Sorrowful Man" and "Dark Night" from the new album over on ReverbNation.
Ukranian gothic band Edenian is streaming its debut ten-song album "Winter Shades" over on Bandcamp. The six-piece band hails from the town of Kharkov and formed in 2010 by two musicians, Eternal Tom (guitar) and Samantha Sinclair (vocals). Alexander Ovchinnikov aka 'Simon Kentervil' from death-metal formation Starving Souls agreed to help with the vocals, his growls lent to five of the songs. Lack of time didn’t allow him to finish the work, so Vladimir Tsymbal from black-metal horde Symuran replaced him on the rest of the tunes. Stream all ten songs from "Winter Shades" below.
Live shows are the backbone of the local music scene, but sometimes they are also host to the drama-laden, the dangerous, and the downright bizarre. Every week we get in touch with rock and metal bands to share their most memorable stories from live shows, and this week Spider Rockets tells a tale that's less brutal than many we've had before, but covers a constant problem at gigs: spilt beer and show-goers who have had a few too many.
We were performing in Berlin, Germany and there was this guy walking on the edge of the pit with a cup of beer. Turns out he was a bit too close to the action because next thing he was on his butt and his cup flew up in the air and he was showered with whatever had been in the cup. He jumped up, all wet, and was looking to go after whoever got him, but no one was paying attention. He was so angry! Later that night, we saw the same guy peeing against the building, so he must have gotten more beer to replace his flying brew.
Spider Rockets wants to be sure that everyone is ready to get "Bitten" with its new album on June 5th. To give the fans a taste of what they can expect on its new album, Spider Rockets is offering 10,000 free downloads of the new single “Scream.” Head over to this location and download your free mp3 now. Check out the new song "Introspection" at this location.
To see what Ihsahn himself had to say about the album, check out our recent interview with him here. Set for release on June 19th via Candlelight Records, the nine-track opus was recorded and produced at Telemark’s Ivory Shoulder Studios, with additional tracking completed at Notodden’s Juke Joint Studio and Seattle’s Envisage Audio. The UK's Witchsorrow will release a new doom-filled opus, "God Curse Us," on July 3rd, 2012 in North America. The title track from the album can be heard now at this location. Metal Blade Records commented:
"Witchsorrow is a prime example of a band that plays pure, epic, and non-pretentious doom metal straight from the heart. If their self-titled 2010 debut suggested that, God Curse Us confirms it across almost an hour of unsullied doom.
"Recorded over Hallowe'en by Chris Fielding at Wales' ultra-remote Foel Studios (Electric Wizard, Primordial, Hawkwind), God Curse Us is an album that brings the dark spirit of '70s Sabbath forward to 2012. Capturing the dark essence of classic doom: heavy, mournful riffs; oppressive atmosphere, bleak, sinister vocals and full-power metal freakouts, there's no mistaking it for anything else."
"I just want to carry on what Sabbath started," states frontman Necroskull. "I want to keep that old flame alive. I think that's always been what all the great doom bands have strived to do. It's a tremendous honour to add our own colour to the great tapestry of doom metal."
"There isn't any light at all in the album," asserts Necroskull. "It's far too easy for metal to become a parody. We're not the band out high-fiving everyone and pouring shots down your throat. Everything is falling apart, you can almost taste Armageddon - we're the ones peering ahead to the end of the world."

Finland's Wintersun has finally released the following update regarding the band's long-awaited second album and follow-up to the debut self-titled album:
"Hello friends! Time for some album(s) news. Wintersun's Time is going to be two albums, titled TIME I & TIME II. We made this decision simply because of few reasons:
"All the 80min of material won't fit on a regular CD and we didn't want to cut anything out. We want you to be able to hear new material sooner and not wait any longer and we want to go on tour sooner.
"The music is very full and complex, so listening this kind of 'hard listening (not easy listening)' material straight for 80 minutes is a bit too much (even for me). Both albums will be approx. nice 40 min epic packages of fireworks.
"We like the idea of releasing two albums within one year, so the band will stay more visible longer, which is important in these 'modern times.' No more years of silence for us! We hope you'll approve our new little 'plan' and support us when the 'Time' comes! The track listing for TIME I looks like this:
1. When Time Fades Away
2. Sons of Winter and Stars
I Rain of Stars
II Surrounded by Darkness
III Journey Inside a Dream
IV Sons of Winter and Stars
3. Land of Snow and Sorrow
4. Darkness and Frost

After fulfilling the band's contract with Earache Records in 2009, Italian progressive metal act Ephel Duath disappeared for a bit. In 2011, songwriter and guitarist Davide Tiso announced that he had assembled a new Ephel Duath lineup and signed a deal with Agonia Records.

Get stoked, this new material oppressively heavy in some spots, pretty in all the right places, and punk as fuck in others."
Further details on these upcoming releases will be announced as they are made available. In the mean time, you can stream the band's "Reprisal" and "Mennonite" albums at this location.
Eclipse Eternal has issued the following announcement about missing the final Ohio date of the band's current tour:

It seems like an epoch since A Band of Orcs debuted in Orctober of 2007 with the "WarChiefs of the Apocalypse" EP (reviewed here) and the accompanying “Into the Maelstrom” video. Since that time the band also contributed a Type O Negative cover to our Peter Steele tribute album, and released a set of fantasy gaming minis.
Now, 5 years later, the monsters of DIY underground metal strike back with a self-titled full-length concept album, detailing the adventures of the Gore-Stained Axe Tribe as they war against the giants of Hirntodia. This offering is produced (executive producer Gruesom Grimp) and engineered by Juan Urteaga of Trident Studios, whose most recent engineering credits include Machine Head’s “Unto the Locust” and portions of Testament’s upcoming “The Black Roots of Earth.”
Metalunderground.com is proud to host the exclusive unveiling of the artwork for the new self-titled album, which can be viewed below.
The story relates, in the form of 12 metal tales, how the Gore-Stained Axe Tribe (i.e., A Band of Orcs and orc-kin in the home realm of Hirntodia) come to be hired and geased (if you don’t know what that means, check out this Wikipedia article) into settling some “giant troubles” for a neighboring human kingdom. The orcs don’t appreciate the coercion of the geas too much and vow to return and settle the score with the human kingdom after they fulfill the terms of their quest and vanquish the titan foes of the realm.
