It has been amazing; we're almost finished with all of the guitar parts and have just begun work on a lot of the drum and bass parts. Writing couldn't be moving along any smoother and its awesome to see the direction this album is taking us. We're really branching out our ideas, colors, and feeling for this next album. Megadeth front man Dave Mustaine has checked in with the following update about the band's current activity:
"Droogies! Today is a travel day and we are all slowly, but surely moving on to our local airports this morning to start what could very well be the equivalent of our artistic and performing climax. So far...
"We are heading off with more great things on our horizon than at any time I can ever remember, and I do remember. Still, I don’t want to miss a second of what is coming up in these next two months, which could be what I would call, 'my musical nirvana.'
"Over the last two months I have streamlined some things in the land of allthingsmega, and made some necessary improvements out on the Killing Road too. I looked at several other projects and distractions that I needed to debride, that were just taking all of my time and there were absolutely zero benefits to me, my family, or to Megadeth, so I chose my family and Megadeth.
"That is the purpose of this update. I want to say thanks to my wonderful family for the most amazing two weeks at home and I can’t wait to see you guys in Europe. Justis, congratulations on graduating from High School! You have made me so proud, and I can’t wait to see what is next in your life. We are going to have a blast with all of your dad’s European friends this summer! And there are a lot of ‘em! More...

Gwar has returned to North America to begin the final preparations for a host of promo events and concert appearances in their continuing two-year long 25th Anniversary. After a lightening-quick four-month break spent in the band's hulking south-pole fortress ("fighting penguins..." claimed Gwar front-thing Oderus Urungus, "and working on a new album..."), the band reportedly made landfall late Wednesday evening, arriving in their signature bat-shaped helicopter at an undisclosed location.
In order to publicize their pressing agenda (and display the pressing of genitals), the band announced that on Friday, May 28th, at 10:00 p.m. E.S.T. Oderus Urungus will hold a web-based press conference, which can be viewed at this location, where he is expected to mouth-off about the insignificance of humanity and make a long and complicated set of demands. Viewers will be able to ask Oderus questions through the chat room, and he might even answer some of them.
In other news, Gwar is set to hit the road for the second leg of their "Lust in Space" tour, including stops at the Skatopia and Bonnaroo festivals. Bonarroo will also have a special Gwar autograph session at the official signing location, where loyal fans can get their favorite Gwar stuff signed, or even have their names carved into their foreheads. "It's a little thing we intend to do to, I mean for, our fans..." explained Gwar guitarist Balsac, the Jaws of Death, "So when they take all those drugs at Bonnaroo they won't forget who they are."
The upcoming Gwar tour dates are as follows: More...
Amalgama has checked in with the following request for feedback from fans regarding their upcoming EP:
"We've been working our butts off for a while wrapping up this EP, making sure all the guitars are in tune, getting the perfect drum sounds, and singing our lungs out. We've kept you in the loop with all the goings-on with the recording and rehearsal process via our YouTube page and Facebook profile and even our Twitter feed. The responses we've gotten back from some of you have been fantastic: calls to have us play shows in your cities and towns across the United States & beyond.
"We really hope you've enjoyed some of the stuff that has been posted up by us on the web, but our next question is: what else do you want to see? Is there something that you would like to see on a t-shirt or a bit of insight on how we recorded the bass? There really are endless questions that we would love to answer. So feel free to message us with what you want to see or hear and we'll do our best to indulge your queries. More videos are on their way soon, as well as the title of our new EP. Don't miss the announcement!"
Finland's Amoral has issued the following statement about working on a new album:
"Hi guys, as you might've noticed, it's been real quiet here in the past few months. We've been writing, rehearsing and recording demos of the new material that will eventually become Amoral studio album number five. There's been a nice, long break from gigs, so we've been able to fully concentrate on this, which also explains the lack of updates or news online.
"So far, we have about 50% of the next album completely written and demo'd out, and we're really happy with what we're hearing. It's still gonna take a good while to complete writing the other half, figure out all the boring business side of things (new label etc) and actually record the album, so please be patient. We also have some shows to do during the summer, which slows the writing down a bit...
"We've posted a couple of videos of us recording new songs, one with Juffi's beats and another with Ari's vocals. Sorry for the lack of new music heard, but we don't wanna get the riffs out there this early in the process, we'd rather keep it fresh for when the album is actually out. More...

Uruguay based metal band Deathred has checked in with the following update about recording new material:
"Hello everyone! For beginning this blog is a report on the new from Deathred because to mid-year get started composing again with fantastic news. One of them is I found a perfect sound through of my sound card m-audio, the acid pro 6, the plug-in distortion amplitube 1, and my Marshall MG series 30 DFX, all this together and mix well is finally the revolutionism of Deathred (Swedish melodic death metal sound high gain), now the guitars will not be recorded by line, now it will be like in a professional studio with a proper microphone front to Marshall because is truly fascinating as only the AmpliTube 1 is awarded the Dismember type sounds ..and other distortions few more!
"Well...with respect to the manner of composing Deathred already has a very special characteristic that makes seem all complete and complex beauty. And with respect to me is up to the emotional ultra melodic and powerful in the depths of the metal! So that I am very inspired to have obtained an amazing sound now only remains to do a good work."
You can also check out sample Deathred tracks via the band's MySpace page.

The band comments on the new demo: "As you will hear this (if you listen to the songs) is a very different band from the 1st album. It is at times quite brutal and is the heaviest we have to offer. Due to some form of democracy some of the lighter tracks were left off this demo but you'll hear them sooner or later."

American metal veterans Atheist has announced that they will be entering LedBelly studios in Atlanta, Georgia on July 5th to record their fourth studio album, which will be the band's first studio album in seventeen years. It is expected to be released towards the end of the year with a 2011 world tour to follow. A message from the band reads as follows:
"I can't believe we are about to record this album finally" vocalist Kelly Shaefer states. "We have been working our asses off for a year, and have taken great strides to make this the record we, as fans, would want to hear from Atheist. It's ferocious, intelligent, and dead balls heavy as shit! When people hear this they're going to say, 'It's Atheist!'
"We are also honored and totally stoked to have Jason be a part of this album with us" says drummer Steve Flynn. "He went to great lengths to make this happen for us, and we are grateful. We anticipate collectively taking extreme metal to new places. Jason has quickly become one of the most sought-after engineers/producers in the industry, and we're excited to be working with him. He truly understands the legacy of the Florida death metal scene, and the importance of this record. We're confident that Jason will deliver an absolutely monster production. Additionally, we DO realize that the record has taken a long time to create. However, there are so many twists and turns in the average Atheist song, and we felt like it was very important to have enough killer material written so as to make it the most interesting record we have ever created. We wanted to make sure we took the next logical step in the evolution of our music. According to the critics out there, it's a tall - almost impossible - order. However, we feel like we have done it.
"Our late and great friend and foundational element of the Atheist sound, Roger Patterson, was always with us in spirit in the process of writing" adds Shaefer. "In fact, that frantic, technical Patterson spirit has come shining through once more in the form of Jonathan Thompson, our newest guitar player. 'JT' is a young-spirited multi-talented player - he also plays bass for Flynn's band Gnostic. As long-time Atheist fans, JT and Chris Baker understand what Atheist is at its core and what the fans expect. Both have proven to be invaluable in bringing out that classic Atheist sound and have been instrumental the course of writing this long-awaited record."
