Dutch act The Devil's Blood has more in common with Blue Oyster Cult than with Emperor, yet somehow this Satanic rock and roll band has managed to grab the attention of fans of the most underground extreme metal. The group's first full-length celebration of the left hand path, "The Time Of No Time Evermore," saw its North American release this month, and The Devil's Blood is currently gearing up to bring their unholy sermons to the European festival circuit.
Discussing the recording process for the album, main song writer and guitarist SL commented, "A lot more time was available for us to explore the furthest depths of the material and to make sure there would be no detail unpronounced. It was a grueling schedule but that is exactly the type of situation you need to translate damnation into art." SL went on to discuss the truth behind every fan's interpretations of the album's lyrics and shared some thoughts on major occult figures. More...

Awake has checked in with the following update about new tour dates and an upcoming album:
"Hello there all! First things first, we have added yet another date to our calendar where you can get down the front and mosh until your heart’s content! Saturday July 3rd on the Marquee stage, at Riverside Festival, Stamford. Lots of great bands playing that day, so put it in your diaries.
"Not long until Wisbech rock fest now, Sunday 6th June. We are headlining this year and hit the stage around 7:30, the bands start at 11am, so get yourselves down there. Along with select tracks from our Illumination album, we shall be treating you to lots of new tracks from the forth coming album. It is our first album with our guitarists, Andy & Steven Coles.
"Andy has worked with ex-prodigy & well respected Gizz Butt, so expect some thunderous new riffs on this album. The tracks are really something to get your teeth into, while still holding on to the melodies & hooks that AWAKE are respected for. Save some energy for when we get on stage, as Al Barrow (Magnum bass player) once put it, 'A force to be reckoned with when the stage lights go on, playing it live and loud. The only way.' More...
Otep frontwoman, Otep Shamaya, has issued the following comments on the passing of 38 year old bassist Paul Gray of Slipknot:
“One of my earliest memories of Paul was our first tour of Ozzfest together - watching him mow down a 10 foot high fence in a 'borrowed' golf cart and that famous deviant, yet innocent grin of his as he scampered back to his bus. And then I witnessed his wonderful insanity on stage. It is painful to write about Paul in the past tense. But he was, as the inscription on Jim Morrison's headstone reads 'kata ton daimona eautou,' true to his own spirit. Part mystic, part madman, Paul was a savagely beautiful human being, an incredible writer, musician, & performer, and an amazing friend.
"For those of us he touched through friendship or by his incredible music, there is some anger and outrage at this loss, the senselessness of it, but most of all, it is the heavy drapes of sadness that devours us. Another candle fades into the night; another shadow ascends into the light. Rest in power, my friend. Shake the walls of paradise for us.”
Xtreem Music has issued the following update about inking a record deal with Spanish black metallers Dantalion:
"Xtreem Music is proud to announce the signing of one of Spain's most prominent Black Metal bands called Dantalion. After having released two albums in '06 & '08 through German label Det Germanske Folket and having gained a respectful reputation, the band has now finished the recordings for their 3rd full length entitled 'All Roads Lead to Death' which will be released in October 2010.
"This new album was recorded at Oceano Studios & BV2 Studios and then mastered in Sweden at famous Unisound Studios by Dan Swano. 'All Roads Lead to Death' has an excellent and original cover art as well as a great overall layout and means a definite improvement in the band's musical direction of aggressive yet melodic and melancholic Black Metal displaying 8 mature and varied compositions in a total of 56 minutes."
Candlelight Records today confirms three more in-store/meet-and-greets as part of Fear Factory's ongoing Fear Campaign American Tour 2010. All four members of the band will be available to meet with fans at Magnolia Thunderpussy in Columbus, Ohio on May 30, Digital Ferret Records in Philadelphia on June 6, and Vintage Vinyl Records in Fords, New Jersey on June 10.
Fear Factory, currently on tour supporting their latest album "Mechanize," had a brief scare earlier this week when their tour bus nearly went off road while in route to Boise, Idaho. Luckily no one was injured and the band made their show at Knitting Factory Concert House without much delay. Guitarist Dino Cazares says, “We were on our way to Boise for a day off when about 8:45am our bus driver fell asleep at the wheel. He swerved to the opposite side of the road. Most of us woke up when we felt the bus on the rumble strips and then the dirt. He woke up in time to swerve back onto our side of the road and pull over.” Continuing he notes, “thank god there was no on coming cars or 18-wheelers on the road. Everyone is fine just a little nervous.”
The upcoming Fear Factory tour dates are as follows: More...

Crimson Glory has released the following statement regarding the passing of legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio:
"Ronnie was a wellspring of immeasurable talent and a shining example of the persistence, hard work, dedication, passion and creativity that it takes to become a true legend in the music world. There has not been a kinder, classier, more well-spoken individual in the realm of hard rock and heavy metal, and it is fair to say that the only thing bigger than the man's voice was his heart.
"Ronnie James Dio was easily one of the most influential artists in modern music; that influence can be heard and felt in countless bands that have emerged over the last forty years, including us!
"With the recent passing of our own singer, Midnight, we deeply empathize with the shock and profound sadness that those close to Ronnie are experiencing right now. It is our hope that Ronnie's friends, band mates and family, especially his wife, Wendy, will find comfort and solace in each other's shared love, respect and fond memories of their time spent with him, as well as the knowledge that Ronnie is incredibly loved by scores of fans of all ages, all over the world."

"OI! Alright so we're finally back home here in Singapore so I thought I'd write a little something to round up the whole tour and thank a few people that we really owe a lot to for helping us out with the tour.
"First up there are all the promoters that were kind enough to invite a small little band all the way from damn Singapore to play at their shows. I wish I could remember everyone's names and all but I can't and I'm really sorry about that. But we really appreciate the support. And the constant concern about our safety, money and all round well being. Also, thank you for inviting us into your homes and letting us invade your living space for the night. It sure beats sleeping out in our van or on the streets so it is something we are very grateful for.
"OK so next we wanna thank all the bands that we played with for lending us use your drums, amp heads and other instruments. Without all your shit, we obviously would have nothing to play on so you guys were great. It was also great hanging out with you guys before/after the show. I wish we could have hung out/talked more but we don't really parlez francais so yeah. In any case, thank you also for playing these shows with us and making us feel welcome and teaching us so much about your country, music, everything. More...
